P.I.S. (Problems, Issues, Solutions) -- Accu-Finish Part 2

This is Part 2 of making a tool for the Accu-Finish grinder from Glendo LLC. I am making a "30 degree reverse angle diamond wheel" using the application of installing diamond disc onto the aluminum plate. This applicaiton will make it simple to change grits when the unit is in use.

Enjoyed the video. I grew up on Sunnyvale and grandparents were in San Francisco. I remember Play Land and also remember same spinning ride at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. Like your videos keep them coming. I’m a Tool maker at a large company in Santa . Rosa, 67 and still enjoy the work. Like you I’m a tool nut multiple of machines and projects never enough . Just finished making a slow speed 4 inch diamond grinder. Scraping some worn ways on a mill at home. Video gives me some ideas.

Went to Playland on my 9th birthday. Cold and windy, but not inside. Flew off that plate a couple of times and fell down in the big barrel. Had a great time.

Thanks Chuck. Proof that Bozo still lives among us all. Seems to me that Bozo is always waiting for me to get in a hurry and then its "Gotcha" I just came in from my shop JB Welding a hole that I drilled 1/8" off so I filled the hole and moved the hole 90 degrees. Only thing i can say is that it is a lesson in patience for me. Marching is not a trade/hobby to get in a hurry. Thanks for bringing us along. Looking forward to part 3

Looks like you got it! But their is one more issue you will need to solve that will show up in a month or so. When you surface ground the plate you likely removed the nickel plating on the magnets, moisture and oxygen will turn the magnets powdery dust as they "rust". Merry Christmas Craig

@@outsidescrewball Came to the comments to say the same thing, once that silver layer is broken, just atmospheric moisture will rot the magnet. Also if you're going to use magnets, it's a good idea to have an even number and inserted so that you alternate poles as you go round the circle to give a better gripping flux through the metal placed on them. Machine a screw with a countersink like you have already, and leave a pin sticking up to center the disk. Put a hex on it to tighten the screw/pin.

I'm sorry Chuck I didn't see the first part but it looks like you aren't trying to grind on the edge of your abrasive, so the runout would actually help abrasive wear on the face. Maybe I'm missing something.

Show the work you did on the bolt . How did you hold it to do the under cut of the tapered face

Jim, thanks for viewing, the reason I did not show the modification to the bolt was it would have been a complete video as I was chasing solutions, I used an ER32 hex collet to secure it in the lathe, then tried extended parting blades to make the cut as there was very limited room for tooling, in the end I have many HHS ground lathe tooling (by others) and I found a left handed radius tool that had an extended nose that would allow me to plunge into the angle where the parting blades wanted to chase the angle....problem solving on the fly and filming is not an easy thing to do...sorry
