This looks fantastic, reminds me of the video where you increased the lift load for the forks... I was surprised you did not paint them Deere Green though! Dropping another LIKE on your video! Watching and Supporting!

Thanks Ray!! It was a toss up between JD green and black lol, I decided on black to match my lighter duty fork attachment.

Thank you, yes these work great. A future project I would like to make up a pair of fork extensions to occasionally lifting odd/long pallets. Cheers!

Nice work. Really like the bends in the upper frame. Just curious if you know what your cost beyond the folks might be?
@photocontrol3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The cost for the materials, including the skid steer adapter was in the $300 to $350 range.

Very nice project! Interested in what size tires you have on the 855. I would like to put wider tires and rims on the front of my 855
@photocontrol4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have Carlisle Trac Chief 26 X 12.00-12 on the front, I was able to put on taller front tires as I put on taller rear tires as well. If you plan to just put on a wider front tire, then make sure it's the same height tire as your existing tires so the ratio is the same, especially important when in four wheel drive, as it can cause stress on the drive train and gears in the front axle (one set of tires trying to force the other set forward or reverse) and premature tire wear. I ordered a pair of rims normally used for the rear tires of a John Deere garden tractor for the fronts. If you can engage/disengage the FWD lever in and out easily while in motion, then you have a perfect front and rear tire ratio.

@@photocontrol Thank you for the info.

Are you running 12.4x16 trac chief on the rear ?
@photocontrol4 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find the Trac Chief in the size I needed for the rears, so I had custom 17.5 rims made and have Samson 14-17.5 R4 skid steer tires which have a 36" diameter. (26" front 36" rear) That 10" difference between the front and rear seems to be the most desirable.
@andytrimble95794 жыл бұрын
@@photocontrol Thank you. I would like to see a pic of the whole tractor if possible. I bet it really looks good with 17.5's on the rear! I put new sneakers on my jd 650 a few years ago and after alot of research i found r4 tires that fit the turf rims. Galaxy hippo 31-15.50-15. The name says it all, they are wide as a hippo! Haha. I use my tractors on our family owned golf course for earth work so i wanted something other than turf tread or ags. I have them loaded with fluid so i have no problem moving full buckets of sand or soil without something hanging on the three point.

Hi There, Great pallet fork build!! I have a 1977 JD400 with a loader attached and I'm going to be building a set of forks as well. I was given a set of 38 x 5 forks that I'm building my set on. They each weigh 100lbs so I'm trying to keep the weight down if possible. What would you estimate yours weigh in at? I don't have a quick attach on my tractor so I'm thinking of adding the adapters and back plate which would be about another 100lbs. Again, great project and a great result! Well done!!
@photocontrol2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Stephen! I figure my carrier frame weighs approximately 240 lbs plus about 60 lbs each for the forks.
@kalebbugay31183 жыл бұрын
Do you have a material list for these? I need to build a set. These look better than most oem fork frames
@photocontrol3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have a list of materials that I can provide you. I made the width of the attachment at 50 inches inside the end frames. I used: 2" X 6" x 50" C-channel at the bottom for strength and a place for the bottom of the forks to attach to on the front and the bottom of the skid steer adapter to weld to on the back. 1/2" X 3-1/2" X 50" (2 pieces) flat bar for the top fork hanger with notches cut and another piece in behind it for reinforcement making a T-shape, also the top of the skid steer adapter is welded to it. 1/4" X 2" flat bar used for the top piece of the frame and load guard bars. 2-1/2" X 2-1/2" X 50" angle for load guard bar base. The ends were made out of a piece of 1/4" X about 10-1/2" wide X 44" long sheet cut on an angle to make 2 pieces of 8" wide at the bottom tapered down to 2" wide at the top where the ends of the angles are bent inwards on both pieces.
