Our 1 luxurious week in Baros resort, Maldives is drawing to a close. It's been a fantastic week filled with insane snorkeling, wonderful sunshine, pristine beaches and delicious food! I've never been the kind of person who books to stay at resorts, always opting for smaller accommodation options. I have to say Baros took all my previous thoughts about resorts and spun them on its head.
Baros is a small, independent boutique resort owned by a Maldivian family. The resort focuses on sustainability and leaving as little impact on nature as possible. The island is not massively developed (certainly not compared to most resorts in the Maldives) and is notably peaceful. Vehicles including bikes are not on the island and neither are noisy water sports (there are kayaks and sailing boats).
It was also encouraging to see that Baros didn't serve any plastic (except for water bottles). There's always more to do but it's good to see them leading the way to be environmentally-conscious.

We love seeing squid underwater! They do some cool light show color variations that are fun to watch. Early morning is a great time to see the reefs full of life- everyone just woke up from sleeping. We usually see some fish out and about that are otherwise hiding in the middle of the day. The sharks are so cool! It would be so hard to leave that place!

The squids were a great surprise. I never thought I'd see something as cool as that! Yes, I loved the sharks too. It was a bucket-list experience swimming around with them.

The diving looks magical!!! The fish, rays and even morning squids!!! Fantastic. Did anything else stunning pop up? I’m terribly jealous of both of that daybed and hammock. I can totally get used to working there with those views. I hope the drinks equaled the scenery. Cheers

Hello again Ella. 👋🏼👋🏼 Wooow fantastic video as always, and incredible aquatic choreography of those wonderful squids 🦑🦑😮. They could represent the Maldives in the next Olympics Games in Japan, in synchronized swimming. They would do a spectacular number 🔟🔟😂😂. I think I too would have been very sad thinking that I had to go home, but not only on the last day, but 2 or 3 days before 😔😢😭 Now, you can confirm with your family, friends, future children, that paradise exists and you have been in it 😉🏝🏖🍹. Inside this dark tunnel in which we are all, you can already see some light at the end, and perhaps by this next summer we can go back to visit those places that we have missed or wanted to know so much 🛫💺, during this loooong year. You know that in these lands you will be very well received (especially now, we need tourism so much). Here I wait for you to meet you in person and show you more of this fantastic island. 🥘🍷🍌🏊🏼‍♀️⛵👙🩳🤿🐬🐳🌋🏝🌅🌠 There is no choice but to be patient 🧘🏼‍♂️to be able to see another great video of yours again (logical if now you cannot travel anywhere)😔 Kisses and hugs from Tenerife.😘🤝🏼

I am so happy you re-wrote this comment because I love it! The idea of the squids running in the Olympics is hilarious! They would so win 😉 Yes, I have hope for the future. We may all be confined to our homes for now but the world won’t stay this way forever. There will be a time where we can travel again and I’m sure we will appreciate it even more as we have experienced what life is like without it. I do feel for all the places which rely on tourism for income and can’t wait to contribute once it is safe to do so. Take care! Hi Ella, This can easily be the best vlog of your channel. I thoroughly enjoyed to the core and beautifully shot. Not to forget your dancing display and it's worth mentioning..a real treat to watch, but the sad part was shot for a short time. Are you fond of dancing 💃 Ella?. I had no idea squids could blend in. Learn something new every day. Omg I wouldn’t want to fly home after being here. Your last sunset was magnificent. What a great ending. Baby shark. Did you see a lot of sharks there? Did you basically stay on the island where your bungalow was located for the entire trip?

Yes, we saw so many sharks! Every time you swim in the ocean, you are guaranteed to see sharks. They're very friendly. Yes, the COVID restrictions mean that you have to stay on your resort island for your whole trip, but we did leave for boat excursions like the dolphin cruise and cruise in the traditional fishing boat.

Incredible way to start the morning seeing these baby squids. Amazing that you see so much wildlife just under your feet there. How long was the snorkel around the wall? I'd really love to visit here. Was it an expensive trip?

The snorkel took a couple of hours. I'm not sure of the exact duration. The trip was the most expensive I've been on. We went in low season so got 58% off our booking which was very lucky!

hi Ella, i love your snorkelling video, was that just around the beach villa area or you have to be dropped off somewhere? Also, does Baros provide complimentary drinking water in your room daily and complimentary drinking water in the restaurant when you dine? Just making sure i prep my mind and my pocket of how much extra i need to fork out upon check out LOL we are planning to avail of the bed and breakfast and so the rest would be ala carte, we dont eat and drink a lot and we feel like All inclusive would be too much for us. thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Mildred! This reef was just off from the main beach at Baros - very easy to swim to! Ooh, good question about the drinking water. On arrival we received complimentary water and a drink of our choice in our room. I am pretty sure they replaced the water in our room each day free of charge. I also went for bed and breakfast and would recommend that option. I tended to eat a lot at breakfast (get my money's worth 🤣) and then not too much at lunch. Hope you have a great trip! Baros is a really magical destination.

I can see in my notifications that you left a reply but annoyingly I think KZfaq deleted it so I can't read the full thing. KZfaq gets a bit over-zealous with marking things as spam. Anyway, I also looked at TripAdvisor reviews before choosing where to stay in the Maldives and that was enough to sway me towards Baros! Since my visit various friends and family members have visited other resorts but I never think they look anywhere near as nice as Baros, haha!

Question: Do they take your passport and keep it during your whole vacation time if your Covid 19 test is negative and you have the documents? I have plans on visiting there in August 2021?

Hey! I didn’t have to hand in my passport. I presented my negative Covid test certificate at border control along with other documents I needed (proof of accommodation, return flight, filled out form etc), otherwise it was similar to normal. I would double check before your visit though as regulations are changing constantly.
