Azhar bhy was an honest stylish batsman whom Don Bradman personally visited to see his batting in a test match in Australia and commented that world created another wristy batsman after David Crompton. Unfortunately when he was on 62 heading to his 4th test century in his third test match, Sunil Gavaskar declared the inning. David Gower England team captain commented on Gavaskar's declaration that if my player was doing this golden record which in history nobody made i would have not declared the inning and let him complete the century. The second gift given to Azharuddin when he was heading to complete his dream to 100th test match he was blamed for match fixing which Court rejected after long trial.

Great shot. He flicked that six with a light-weight bat (which wasn't convenient for big hitting). The bowler was medium-pacer, which meant that there wasn't much pace to hit either. All these aspects make that six more special.

@@elanchelvan9164 Yes.We won 2 matches WV Raman scored century in 3 rd match and Praveen Amre 84 unbeaten in last match. Apart from 86 in this match Azhar scored 49 in 4th match and 41 in 6th match. In test match Azhar scored 120 runs in 6 innings 1 50+ score in 3rd test. Tendulkar and Kapil Dev scored 200+ runs in that series.

Today 25 years before February 9 1994 Azharuddin scored 152 against Sri Lanka 3 test match against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad. This pitch very tough spin bowling condition.first innings Sri Lanka scored 119 runs only.this test match Azharuddin 9 th wicket partnership with Rajesh Chauhan 67 runs very crucial because . Rajesh Chauhan not scoring runs for more than 50 balls. Azharuddin only scoring runs that time with 50 runs.but Rajesh Chauhan playing with 0 runs with 45 minutes.that is one of World record.peope have to think about Azharuddin talent with tailenders.end of this test match Azharuddin was man of the match and man of series.FEB 9 1994 is unforgettable day. today FEB 9 2019.25 years after remembering means very great full feelings .

Tough playing conditions, only azar seemed comfortable. The 40 something he scored is equal to 80+ elsewhere. And ćould have gòne score a century but gr8 fielding by sa cut it short

Great share this. In the recent past, plenty of videos from the 1992-93 tour to South Africa have been uploaded. Probably it is time to put the icing on the cake by uploading Kapil Dev's brutal 129 during the Boxing Day Test of the same series. India, reeling at 31/6, were single-handedly shepherded to 215/10 by Kapil Dev during the course of this innings.

My first cricket series that I watched on doordarshan in the evening,matches used to end at late night.Pitches were very difficult to bat on.India lost the series by 5-2. I still remember in one of the matches W.V Raman got the hundred and India had won that match. The great kapil dev was close of retirement.

ODI Cricket playing style varied each decade. 80s was slow like test cricket. 90w was explosive in the first and last 15 overs. 2000s saw aggressive batting thru out the innings. 2010 saw PP introduction so batsmen had the freedom to play their own style of cricket. Tendulkar is probably the only player to play all types of cricket.

What's wrong in failing in one or two series? Virat Kohli failed, Ponting failed, Lara failed... everyone had these sorta series in their career which is absolutely fine for a cricketer. Mind you one thing that was still a teenager at that time and yet he scored a hundred in a test match against South Africa in this same series where most other failed miserably.

@@_jinu Sachin became a league of his own when he started opening in 1994 in the odis. Then the public & the media started shouting that whenever Sachin fails India fails. When Sachin used to bat in the middle order nobody said that India's fortune depends on Sachin's success. Today public has forgotten these things. Indeed PUBLIC MEMORY IS SHORT.

Sa bowlers bowled very cleverly as spoken by the commentary team. They did not pitch the ball up to Sachin. Good length delivery. Sachin struggled badly in this series

Get your facts right. Widen ranked sangakara and kallis after bradman and Gary sobers. By the way great batsman are expected to bat well and score runs no matter whether they come 1 down or 4 down. That's the mark of a true champion. Dhoni is the best example along with Michael Bevan. So don't give excuses just for the heck of an argument. So are just making a fool out of yourself through your baseless arguments.

Were they not seeing the ball properly? All the batsmen were playing with low backlift and defending balls at the last moment. Ball was not leaving the 15 yard circle even though the field was spread out.

Ramana Venkata In the initial years of TV umpires green light was for out, later they switched it. Now the presence of giant screens in every stadium has eliminated the need for these lights.

Only one series against arch rival Pakistan manjreker played very well and got the reward for last eight years to be in the team.he was a liability in one dayers .not a great filder and not a quick runner between wickets.

3:01 - shows, why Azhar could never become a good captain, or why India could never achieve their full potential. We were too nice in a cut-throat world. The bowler clearly obstructed Manjrekar, leading him getting run-out, but no word from Azhar or from the team. Had it been Sunny, he would’ve taken his team out and would’ve created a big hullabaloo. It was biased umpiring to the hilt, but there was nobody to call that.
