Finally, game up and started to rebuild the 727 out of my Grand Wagoneer. Part 1 will be the disassembly and Part 2 will be putting it all back together. Part 2 will be better since I learned so much about taking it apart.

Figured I needed to learn somewhere. :) And if it doesn't work I will be taking it to someone way smarter then me in which I have plenty to choose from. Thanks for watching.

I just manned up and got my 727 bolted up in Wagoneer yesterday. Forgot the trans mount at home. Still gotta get torque convert bolted up. Should be able to get it moving under it's own power soon. Still need shift fork for ax15 for xj. I got the shift kit with mine. Had broken reverse piston too. Clutches were toast. Had to use press to change piston shaft out. Make sure you get right seal for rear shaft. My kit didn't have 4wd seal. Mine had the manual value body for the kick down. It was kind of a pain with the way it goes back together. I watched Precision Transmissions video 100 times. Time to get working on my jeep. I hope transmission was rebuilt right only have myself to blame if not.

it is a good feeling when they can move under their own power. :) I hope I will get that feeling. Thanks for the tip on the rear seal. that would suck if it is not in there. I will look tonight. I picked up a really good book in which I will show in the next video on the rebuild part. So far a really good book. I hope to find time soon. Thanks for the Sub and all the Comments. @@5LakesGarage I didn't realize my torque convert only lines up one way on flex plate. Had to loosen bolts and slide trans back to align torque converter. Thanks for the great video.

yes. I found that out as well. I ended up using a can of spray paint through the inspection port. Such a pain

Great Video; nice lighting, sound and explanation. The TF727 in my '88 GW was the first transmission I rebuilt. One of the easier ones to rebuild, as the specialty tools required are minimal. I compressed the clutch pack with three carefully-placed c-clamps, as there was no affordable compressor available at that time twenty years ago.

Thank Dr. This is my first one and the 727 is a good one to start with from what I seen so far. I hope to have everything cleaned up and put back together soon. Just have find time. Spring time is a busy time. I have to get this wag out on the trails again. :) Thanks for watching.
