Demonslayers are fun. And with their bonuses, they can be a perfectly viable blender (dual-wielding) from early even. But ranged is easier.

This is one of my gripes with the sequel, 90% of what you're fighting will be demons, so picking any enemy-class-specific abilities that are not against demons is borderline useless (if you make an anti-undead paladin, they'll be useful in exactly 3 fights throughout the whole game).

I've played several characters now... I really enjoy the Magus Sword Saint subclass the most. The Sword Saint can cast offensive touch/ray spells and melee attack in the same turn. Trading armor for bonuses in a single melee weapon while protecting himself with magic. He/She also has a weapon enhancement ability allowing him/her to add multiple attributes to their melee weapon at once such as holy, fire, speed, so on, creating a glowing sparking super weapon that looks like something out of anime.

@@NickStrife fey, magical beasts and humanoids is already 3 times more enemy types than in WoTR. There's also a bunch of plants, an entire act dedicated to undead, random encounters and map locations have all kinds of enemies. Fighting demons and fighting ONLY demons are two different things, if you unknowingly pick something like a protector of the true world druid or take any ranger favored enemy other than demons or maybe humanoids you'd feel cheated by the game half way through the campaign. Either make those classes and abilities viable or make then unavailable in the main campaign and add an option to enable them back if you want to keep the ability for players to do weird shit and experiment.

One other thing about Phantasmal Killer and Weird: Look out for enemies that have True Seeing on them (either temporarily or permanently) as the spells are considered illusions, and True Seeing sees through all illusions, making them immune.

Magus/Duelist: I actually played in a tabletop Pathfinder party with someone who did this around 6 years back. They would deliberately trigger attacks of opportunity, riposte, and unleash their magic through spell combat. Hilarious to watch :)

The great thing about the Demonslayer (and all Rangers) is getting the two-weapon-combat feats without meeting the dexterity requirements, so you can pump strength to 20. Wear heavy armor and take some levels in Armored Hulk or Hellknight to equalize the penalties. My main character dualwields a pair of a one handed axe and a shield. Love that combat style and shield bash animations.

A few builds I keep coming back to, mainly as mercenaries to help my party: -Sanctified Slayer (Inquisitor) Archer; build him as a domain monkey (take domain zealot and a bunch of domains), and in turn-based mode pop a domain power before each attack. This is most powerful in the early game, and makes it go much easier on unfair. You kind of need a solid ranged dps early on, and if you don't want to take Lann I feel like this is one of the best choices. You'll eventually have 6d6 sneak attack, but now that loremaster works you can take a level in loremaster and pick up sense vitals as a wizard spell for another 5d6. You also have 4d6 from greater bane weapon, and up to +10 attack from madness domain, +10 from good domain (or community), +2 to everything from nobility. It takes some micro to work well but when it goes off it is a very solid ranged. -Psychokineticist with monk dip (basically a jedi): If you are bored of geniekind stacking, this is another way to have a solid frontliner. Make all your levelling decisions based on being a melee frontliner, so max out AC, take kinetic blade, max out wisdom for armor and kineticist DCs, and give yourself shatter defenses. Kinetic blade hits up to 4x per round (potentially more with the hammer of perfection or some mythic shenanigans), so has a pretty high ceiling for damage. Use an energy blade to hit touch (and your shatter defenses is letting you hit flat-footed, so it's pretty hard to miss). Note that you can cast greater magic weapon on it to increase its attack by +5. I suggest fire/ water/ fire for the elements, so you have the option of using blue flame blade for some serious burst damage, and the water shield for another +8 AC or so. Unfortunately pretty weak in the early game (like all kineticists), but very strong further on, so best to add to your party when you have a higher level and more of the appropriate gear available. Kinetic overflow with psychokineticist is a bit buggy, but it does let you add a bunch to your wisdom, which will boost your armor further; you just have to remember to look for the ability in the abilities pane. -Any legend build with dispelling attack and destructive dispel: Be a legend, take the rogue's dispelling attack feat (via a dipping loremaster [or being a rogue I guess]), and then also take the destructive dispel feat (and have some means of sneak attacking; if you're a caster you can use sense vitals, which you can pick up with a couple more levels of loremaster). As a legend, every sneak attack will hit the enemy with a L40 dispel, which is near guaranteed to dispel something, and will then immediately stun them. Even if they don't get stunned due to immunities, you're peeling away all their buffs and they can't do much about it. You can ensure sneak attacks by either having someone flank the enemy, by using shatter defenses and making them shaken, by being invisible (and mind blank is supposed to now prevent detect invisible or true seeing from revealing you to them), or using prescient strike as a magus. -Divine Hunter (hunter): This is a crazy versatile class, and I sometimes pick it up to use the pet for tanking. You are a hunter who also has access to cleric domains (with -2 to the level), but unlike an inquisitor, you also learn the domain's spells as spontaneous spells, which is actually more than even clerics get (they have to put them in their domain slots). You can game this to get some pretty handy spells like divine power. Take domain zealot and at least a couple of impossible domains. (Glory will give you access to divine power for +6 attack and damage, madness is just insane, but most domains give you some nice spells you can't otherwise normally get). If that wasn't enough, your pet also get the celestial template, giving it some resistances and the ability to smite at its own level. Unless they have changed it, the pet gets unlimited smites, one per round. It's a handy way to pull, but it adds up to +20 to the pet's damage, which you can game for some filthy mid-game dps by using acid maw, and (if I recall?) claws of a sacred beast, both of which add damage that gets the +20 added separately. The +20 also multiplies on crit, so having a skald around who can give everyone an extra crit multiplier is nice. As a domain user you can also stand near your pet and buff it with luck, touch of good, or visions of madness. Leopard pet will have the best AC (just don't use armor), and does have trip, but wolf/ dog gains more from skald song if the skald has beast totem (gains extra claw attacks, which the leopard doesn't). That said, the best move is to polymorph the pet into a dragon from the midgame on, for the stat boosts and extra armor (and extra attacks). Smiting celestial dragon pet is fun.

I like the "bitey mcbiteface" build where you stack a bunch of unarmed strikes and secondary attacks and just go out swinging every fight. 1: Pick half-orc or kitsune for their racial bite feat 2: Pick unarmed specialist as the background 3: Pick primalist bloodrager, serpentine bloodline up until level 8, replace the lv4 or lv8 bloodrage with Animal Fury and another rage power of your choosing 4: Mythic Rank 1 pick Brutality Incarnate to negate all resistances to your unarmed attacks 5: dip 1 level into scaled fist (how original) for the charisma armor and extra unarmed strikes, and the ability to pick up certain monk shirts that increase the power of your strikes 6: Stick with the Serpentine Bloodrager up until level 12 to add reach to all of your unarmed attacks while raging 7: Put the rest of your levels into Hellknight specifically for the Smite Chaos ability, which you can exploit for 20+ damage per miss with the Destructive Shockwave Mythic Feat (you should have 10+ attacks while raging at this point so that's pretty much guaranteed 200+ damage even on all misses for a full attack) Notable Equipment: 3-finned helm for an extra gore attack or Demonic Resentment for extra power on rage (helmets), Claws of a Sacred Beast or Gloves of Martial Excellence for stronger unarmed strikes (gloves), Robes of Order or Malice (2nd is evil only, both limited to monks). The other equipment is pretty flexible. More or less just for fun, the downside to this build is that the survivability is kind of bad early game, so I wouldn't try it beyond core.
@nessesaryschoolthing
@nessesaryschoolthing Жыл бұрын
Yeah, survivability is exactly why I abandoned my first biter build in Wrath. You get so many attacks, but it doesn't do any good if you can't get a group of enemies in biting distance without them KOing you. Recently, I considered the possibility of trying to get bites on a mounted character. With a mount, you can move and still make a full attack, plus it tends to draw fire away from you even while you're in melee. I'm thinking Mad Dog barb, maybe some sohei levels, maybe a dip into Nature oracle for wolfscarred face.

I love the idea of stacking a ton of natural attacks but never really tried in practise. Serpentine Bloodline is one of the more interesting ones and makes me want to try it, you can go motherless tiefling also if you want a gore/bite. I'd probably go ViVi for feral mutagen bite and wings plus usual mutagen goodies, sneakd6 for the attacks etc. Though I can't really vouch for smite classes outside of pure pally Seelah. Dragon Disciple would probably work, I feel in most cases though you'd probably just end up leaning into a shape-shift role like a Dragonkind user. Still kinda want to try it as I like the idea of a Warwick style pump me with the sauce and go stupid with juiced up claw and bite attacks, just never can really compare with good magic weapons.

My first full playthrough was a gnome phantasmal mage similar to your Nenio build. I one shotted everyone including the demon lords and the final boss with Weird. I played on Hard and did the Demon Path. It was a fairly cool experience. The funny thing was that I oneshotted Nocticula and the game bugged out for me so I had to beat her the conventional way. The strength of this build is that the Phantasmal Mage is the ONLY class in the game that can Persistent Weird + Azata Favorable Magic and/or Aspect of Socothbenoth. Grandmaster Rod for those immune to illusion...and yeah, kind of fun but also kind of boring. I am considering something similar for Azata once EE comes out but with Baleful Polymorph...turning Demon Lords into dogs and then beating them up could be fun.

Currently trying out (and really enjoying) a dedicated *BONK* build; hitting as hard as possible with a big stick, upwards of 2000 dmg per per attack: Pump strength as much as possible, and start out with a Rowdy Rogue, who get Vital Strike at Lv 1, and get the improvements to it far earlier than anyone else. You're also gonna pick up a Greataxe for the highest damage per swing. Take 11 Levels in it, which gets you all of your Vital Strike feats early and for free, and then swap over to Two-Handed Fighter for more feats, better armour, Weapon Specialization, and most importantly, Overhead Chop, which doubles your strength bonus to attacks with two-handed weapons. Mythic Path, you start off with Mythic Vital Strike and Precision Critical to multiply all your Sneak Attack dice on Crits and with Vital Strike. Then go Trickster and pick up all the absurd Critical Range boosting feats (your greataxe will eventually be critting on a 13 for x4 damage), and then after getting those, swap over to Legend when you can, letting you keep your Trickster feats, and also letting you go up to Level 20 in BOTH Rowdy and Two-Handed Fighter, getting some goofy bonuses to hit and Sneak Attack, and two capstones, which lets you pump your strength by an additional 16 points. Along the way, pick up the Cleave feat line to let you just obliterate multiple enemies around you with one swing. It's certainly a very very narrow build that's heavily reliant on being able to hit with a single attack, and you do lose most of your mythic feats, but my counterpoint; It's really funny to consistently one-shot anything in the game. I'm currently running a party of mercs almost exclusively dedicated to boosting the MC's chance to hit (Brown Fur Transmuter for Str buffs, Shaman for healing and AC hexes, Bard for Bardly things, Monk for tripping, etc).

After I'm done with Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition I will start with Pathfinder: WotR and my build for the 1sd time will be: NEUTRAL and strong and ugly (7 CHA) Half-Orc (Human Raised+Oblate->Acolyte) Spawn Slayer 19/Knife Master 1/Vivisectionist 20 and of course Legend Mythic Path but before that he will be Trickster Mythic Path and focusing on that Perception to get all that Improved critical feats for his KUKRIS before becoming a Legend. The idea is to have 7 attacks each being 11-20/x5 crit + 18d8 sneak damage combined with many skill points (maxed out perception, persuasion, athletics, mobility, trickery, stealth) and many free feats and buffing spells that are according to lore(?) just potions made by alchemists. My favorite class to play in basically every cRPG is a mage tank. I just like the idea of taking what should be a super squishy class and converting them into the exact opposite of what they were designed to be. For Pathfinder that means the ol' Monk 1/Paladin 2/Fey Sorc X builds for stupid AC and Saves. I know a lot of people find this build to be rather boring/generic and cheesy but it always tickles me to send my half naked guy rushing into battles and emerge w/o a scratch. It's also a good support buffing class so you can focus your other members into more focused damage and comes w/ a pet to boot. It is pretty versatile if you want to switch things up for specific builds like dazzling display or branch out a bit into Bloodrager or Loremaster for some obscure feats. Not sure how viable it is on Unfair but for Core works excellently.

If your new to this game, it can be a lot to learn, don't get disheartened though if you have a class you really just love and want to play, play that class. This even goes for Mythic Paths, sure a wizard Lich has the highest arcane spell levels possible, but you can also play a melee lich and have a ton of fun. My favorite is by far the witch of the veil 2/ kineticist 18 (witch of the veil 8/kineticist 19/oracle 11/inquisitor 2) I found one great way to make one that can pretty much solo the whole game on unfair. I'm in the last chapters right now and it is smooth sailing at level 40. Start out as a witch of the veil 2 levels and max out stealth. Then go 18 levels into kineticist(normal), go fire-earth-water(phys). infusions get fan->extended range->any->any(recommend Eruption)->Wall->Deadly Earth-> Cloud->any Mythic go Ascendant Element -> Kinetic Overcharge the rest is up to you once you get to the last acts go for legend. level kineticist to 19. level witch of the veil to 8 (swift dimension door + stealth for free every round YES PLEASE!) Get oracle enlightened philosopher to level 11 you can pick any curse except for powerless or pranked, mystery battle warsight for uncanny dodge and rolling 3 dice every initiative! get 2 levels of inquisitor for more of that sweet initiative. My build got initiative +30 and average about 48 every combat you can probably get it even higher. Use turn based combat all the time then attack -> swift invisible every turn. Initiative is important you need to go first else you die very quickly on unfair. Try to stay out of the 30ft range. Early on you will need to use the witch cantrip to take down the toughest foes but it goes rather smooth you just have to never forget going invisible with shrouded step. Get lann on a horse early on and make foes chase him run around tables and shoot down foes that can see you in chapter 1, mephits are the real bosses but they are doable.

Mawangi Hunter Mutagen Warrior Axe Thrower is probably the best I have seen. Get weapon finesse, fighter finesse, and mythic finesse and you stack your dex for both hit and damage (and AC). With weapon focus, greater weapon focus, weapon training, and mythic weapon focus and your attack gets close to 50. And if you use that little dragon pet you get in act 5, with elemental barrage you will absolutely melt mobs, cause the dragon causes a random elemental effect, so each attack is a different element. Add in up to greater snap shot, and get close to the enemy and it can easily do 60-80% of the damage of your whole group. One of the few classes I have found that can do reliable damage to almost everything. Most classes (e.g. rogues) have a hard time getting their attack rating high enough to hit things.

I bought this game bc of you buster, it better not stink... I obviously like AD&D, am pretty darn familiar with 3E, having the main books, but am only so/so on 3.5. I am completely unfamiliar with the Pathfinder series as I've always been a Forgotten Realms and Krynn guy myself (I actually got to play a couple of sessions with Ed Greenwood at the helm and another with Weiss and Hickman doing a...umm...if Diablo 3 was a PnP campaign with a death match mode that would have pretty much been it I guess. We all died within 5 hours so it was different if nothing else. Wow, that was all the way back in 2001! Yikes I am old.) Anyway, I installed last night so hopefully I can set 4 or 5 hours aside tonight after I get back from the gym to start sinking my teeth in. I just need to pick a class concept hence why I'm watching this video! Learn me a bit _"Teach."_ Man, none of that sounded remotely cool after typing it. Did I mention I was at GC 2001...ugh. I miss my 20's now.

My top 5(not counting mods ; they are all single class builds - well, as much as they can be ; WW needs Ele Wizard for example{and Witch, but that's obvious, innit?} ; note: utmost max efficiency and Unfair isn't my goal ; thematic builds are): 1. Faith Hunter - just amazingly well rounded, adaptable and overall fun, especially if going Aeon 2. Winter Witch - yeah, I love the amount of CC, support etc on offer here ; it's amazing. 3. Ecclesitheurge - of Asmodeus(or Gorum for extra challenge). Just amazing mixture of support, CC and wicked damage - combined with Devil it turns into something else! 4. Battle Singer - yeah, it starts out underwhelming, but eventually becomes a ridiculous nonsense! 5. Witch Doctor - what an amazing support! Almost nothing that's working properly can't match it in support and healing AND it can have a pet(two for Azata and Azata gets even more support)!

try this one, minimal player involvement, maximal enjoyment, works for any mythic path, absolutely shines on legend: kindred half-elf = str/cha. all level up go to cha. all skill points go to persuasion 1. Oracle - any will do, pick nature's whispers for AC, pick the devilbound for the lawful weapon (stacks with angel's buff) 2. 2 levels of Paladin - for divine grace 3. Thug - for upgrading the fear effects 4. 16 levels of Mutation Warrior for the mutagen and fighter's progression you should focus on picking all the fear related feats like dazzling display, dreadful carnage, etc. Your Thug will upgrade the effect to terrified and your roll will be high to even make Deskari run in fear. for the legend you remove your heavy armor, add 1 level of scaled fist and progress the paladin till the end.

Haven't really played enough to have a favourite build yet, but I did enjoy my first playthrough as a Battle Singer where I went Legend and ended up lvl 20 Battle Singer and 20 Mutation Fighter. I love the flavour just find them a bit tedious, and a bit of a late bloomer for things to really come online. I feel with WotR, classes that rely heavily on a limited pool of resources get a little shafted with how corruption works. You can't quite burn all of your resources as much upfront for big number until your having to rest all the time before corruption can become a problem, whereas Kingmaker you could just sort of cheese it and rest between every encounter without much consequences.

Could you please make a list for recommended classes/archtypes for real time with pause(rtwp) mode and turn based mode? As an example, kinetics shines in turn based mode and arcane trickster shines in rtwp mode. I personally prefer playing on rtwp mode since it's more exciting but some classes are just too micromanage heavy in that mode. Also I find it funny that Nenio is practically useless in her quest dungeon since most enemies are immune to mind spells there.

I was using my "stay away" build. Inqusitor Monster Tactician 1-20 level. Pick aasimar or human, deity - erastil (longbow proficiency and animal domain) animal domain gives animal companion. Invest feats in better conjuration, augmented and superior summoning, and blank point shot, precise shot, and other archer feats. Just "stay away" off enemies. Animal companion (elk or wolf) distract enemies, summoned monsters will do the job. For mythic, pick full Aeon (for summoning and debuffs) or Legend (best synergy with psychokineticist). cons - relatively low damage from weapon. Not bad but not awesome.

MT is my favorite too, but I usually go summon line then followed by a mounted dazzler route for feats. MT have fantastic bonuses to intimidate too as a bonus.

Running a Battle Oracle Angel right now. Insanely strong and simple build as well. The real problem is I don't have enough slots for all my spells. Being able to destroy enemies with either melee or spells is absurd. Plus the Angel list takes most of the pain out of buffing. Spoiler... Was playing for Ascension, had the glass key from the library. But post-patch, it broke (key. Not save.) Oh well. The Angel ascends either way, really. When EE comes out, I think I want to do a Legend run, either as a Paladin of Iomedae who obeys his patron (which I have an El Cid cavalier/paladin build in mind). Or as a redemption run starting as a demon or lich and rejecting it at the last.

Coming from Kingmaker which was my first dive into Pathfinder systems, being more accustomed to 5e. I enjoyed a pretty vanilla Sorc,DD, Scaled build in KM, granted not really well optimised as I was new to the system and the early-mid game for casters being pretty underwhelming. I then went into WotR wanting to try a more martial character, I love the flavour of SS/Duelist but personally just wasn't feeling Magus' playstyle and micro, granted its more of a later game class just didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted. So far really enjoying my legend run going Slayer Deliverer/ViVi/Rogue Dex and having a lot more fun. Just love a diversity of builds you can play with (obviously while not being tunnelled in with min-max Unfair builds that I generally don't find too fun). WotR has consumed so much of my time so far and loving it.

As unoptimal as it is (and depending on how strict you are with rules, a bit cheaty), I love doing my hospitalier paladin mixed with Tranquil Whisperer bard with some Dragon disciple sprinkled in for theme. There's just something about the idea of going in with sword n board if main tank or two bladed sword using the ronin radiance mod, helping dps and being group off-healer that scratches a deep seated itch. My only complaint is that i really want to do a dragon-shape focused build but i love my radiance too much to ever give it up. If the pathfinder games allowed it (barring the call of the wild mod which i love some of those feats like the prodigious two weapon fighting for str qualifying instead of dex), i'd probably shift it over to paladin/summoner, but that's a whole other story i probably shouldn't get into.

Yeah I find Core difficulty to be the best balance. Above that and you're relying too much on rng. Having to restart 50 times to beat a boss soon get's tiring. I'd recommend new payers start on normal and work their way up. Unless you just want to play for the story, below normal is pointless as you won't be forced to learn all the spells/abilities/strategies/tactics
@SchwartzSchnee
@SchwartzSchnee Жыл бұрын
If you have built for it then you shouldn't ever need to restart even on Unfair. Just the amount of things that can get through the game on that difficulty are much smaller than the amount that can get through Hard which is smaller than can get through core. It would help if 3/4ths of the companions didn't have bad builds.
