Austin poured his broken heart into this song after a breakup of his 5 year relationship. He struggles with singing it, but he some how, gets through it. I was lucky to find a wonderful man 43 years ago. We dated for 5 months & were engaged 5 months, when we got married. Sadly, I lost him 3 years ago. So I understand your feelings but on a different aspect. Thank you for being so real. I always enjoy your reactions, especially Home Free.

I had to watch your reaction to this again. It is a great song that so many can relate to. My favorite." We were kids, we were wild and we were never getting older." I am 68, and my love and I are coming up on our 50th anniversary. Well we got older, but we are still kids. "Thumbin' through, it's like I'm goin' back in time"

There is an old song:. "The Second Time Around". with the lyric: "Love is lovelier the second time around. Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground. It's that second time you hear your love song sung. Makes you think perhaps that love, like youth, is wasted on the young." I'm so glad you re-connected! Thanks for sharing your story and this video. By the way, I'm so old, I still call them records (and I still have vinyl & a record player).

I think Austin was extremely brave to bare his soul with this song. To see him sing it live is very emotional and puts a lump in your throat. I saw him at The Ryman and he was in tears at the end of the song. 💔

THIS. This is why we love Home Free, and why we love music. Hearing a song that digs into one's innermost thoughts, fears, or dreams is - at the very least - cathartic. All too often we think that the pain and hurt we've experienced in our lives is unique and that nobody else could understand, when suddenly a song slaps us out of our self-loathing to remind us that our thoughts and feelings are experienced by others, too. Music is the great equalizer; listening to a song that speaks to our souls is one of the most powerful forces on Earth.

Posting very late, but due to deaths in the family and other trauma I put music on the back burner. This is my favorite song. Austin is a great musician, and he put his heart and soul into You Love Me Like That, writing and singing. You can feel the emotion he invested in this song, he always gives everything he has in his music. I think this gorgeous, bittersweet song is often overlooked. I look forward to your reactions. You are so connected to the music!

This is my favorite Home Free song as well. It’s so raw...Austin poured his heart out in this. When I first heard it I had to listen to it several times to make sure I heard the words correctly. It’s true that it’s about a lost relationship but the line “My parents taught me no one I love could love me like that” is a reference to the effect his parents’ divorce had on him. He’s talked about it in interviews. It just breaks my heart. It seems that Austin’s songs really speak to you... first Lonely Girl’s World and now Love Me Like That. You will probably get to hear them both live in January. If you get the chance to talk to Austin I’m sure he would love to hear about the impact of his music. Loved your reaction.

Austin did a great job on this song and the others certainly backed him well - they all added their touch and made for an amazing song. My husband and I started dating our senior year of high school, and then through all of college. Then we broke up for reasons... We went through several years, I even got married and divorced during that time. But when I divorced my ex, I was suddenly “allowed” to keep in contact with guys again, and so I sent out a mass email to everybody and he is one of the people who responded. We got married about 18 months after that and have been married since 2002... Every year on our anniversary I tell him how glad I am that he responded to that email. I had the exact same reaction to this song as you, except I actually cried because I wasn’t worried what viewers would think! I’m so glad you share your story with us all. Great song. The harmonies are spot on, and the lyrics tell a story I'm sure a lot of us can relate to. This is my first exposure to the band (thanks for that), and I'm going to have to seek out some more of their music. I have a song suggestion for you, since you enjoy Joe Bonamassa. Check out Jimmy Barnes (an Aussie) featuring Joe Bonamassa on "Stone Cold". Jimmy has an amazing voice, and I understand his old band, Cold Chisel, is getting back together.

Have you fallen down the Home Free/Home Fry rabbit hole yet? And now, Austin, Tim, & Chance have their own stuff, too. When I discovered them a year ago, I immediately thought, wow, this is like falling down a rabbit hole you can’t find your way out of! Then I gad to laugh when I read so many other Home Fries all referred to it the same way! Lol I love all their stuff, & their videos just suck us all in. They’re fantastic singers, but they’re awesome entertainers, too, & funny on stage when they want to be. They seem to treat their fans like family, & everyone loves them so much! #HomeFryForLife

This song is true and bears Austin's heart...but his a heartbreak song. He and Olena parted ways...I hope they find their way back to each other like you and your wife.

Maybe they will as friends, but he seems like he’s pretty happy with Amberly now. You can tell a difference in his videos/songs between the time they broke up & after he started dating Amberly-he started smiling more, acting really happy again. You could tell he was pretty sad for a while. Amberly’s a very lucky woman!!

@@JaimeDornanLady I am so happy to see Austin and Amberly together ❤ You are right. She has made such a difference in his life. One door closed so another could open.

I'm so glad you played it twice, and I read the comments. Jeez, I almost missed the meaning. Powerful stuff.

I love this song! I also really like your reaction to it. I can't help but think this song could also cross genres from country to pop. Austin, man you know how to convey all the emotion this song is about. BTW, I still refer to these as records and albums.

Actually they are saying that vinyl records are probably going to out sale CD’s for the first time!! I love vinyl personally. More nostalgic to me.

I would have liked to hear you compare this song to Lonely Girl's World, also on the Dive Bar Saints album. In that song he described all the things he did wrong or didn't do right and you seemed to understand and identify with that song. Same heartbreak, but in this song he describes the pain post breakup. You also seen to identify with these feelings in this song too.
