I loved it when Mama would make these for dinner. She would fry them up...I don't think they had air frying technologies back then. My Mama's salmon croquettes were so delicious! I miss her cooking.

My mom made these in the 60s. None of us could stand them. I like salmon now, so glad to see these. Years later, in the late 80s, I gave her some nice smoked salmon. She looked me and my older sister in the face and said "I hate salmon!" Say what? 😂😂

Your voice is equaling soothing as Paula's presence, and great counter balance to her silliness. You all are comical! Love the daily dose of Deen, thank you for the fun, and hard work y'all! I love the trips down memory lane - reminds me so much of mine with my mother & grandmother, and cooking salmon patties. They used cast iron skillets, of course. While they are both gone now, I can often feel their presence when I cook some of the wonderful, historical meals. And watching Paula, listening to the stories, makes it even more real. Keep 'em coming Paula!

Paula, I love you, you have meant so much to me over the years. My mama passed away 25 years ago I was 36 at the time and your TV shows and now your videos have saved my spirit and my love for cooking. My mother was a great cook and shared her love with everyone. When my dad started with dementia he would watch your on TV and swear it was mama. There was a striking resemblance with you and mama and he would tell us that mama was in the kitchen making whatever you were making that day. He would cry when your show would go off. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

So these are like salmon patties right ? I love salmon patties in a biscuit . When I was growing up we had a little apartment in our basement of our house . It was a big old house . The people that lived in the basement would make salmon patties and biscuits every morning . At 1st it smelt so good waking up to them cooked salmon , but after awhile I got tired of waking up to that smell . It's fine once in awhile , but not every morning . lol !! I hope someday I get to buy an air fryer . I know it's got to be healthier for you . Thank you Paula , Teresa , and Eddie for sharing another awesome video with us !! Have a great weekend !! I don’t know how it got started but when I was a kid, we would serve those up with a splash of pure cane syrup…so delicious! I grew up 2 hours from Savannah, and cane syrup was a staple in our house! Avocado oil is my choice of healthy oils - not hearing a lot good about canola and other veggie oils such as corn. Avocado oil has a higher smoke point and the flavor is completely neutral.

Miss Paula I love Salmon in any form. I am a piggy when it comes to Salmon, I could eat 3 medium to large patties on my own and just be so content. Yum yum yum. My sister makes a sauce with peas in it, I don't care for it, plain is wonderful with me. My parents were not the Brady Bunch, but together they had 17 children, and 13 of us lived. Now there are 10 of us left, Daddy pasted away when I was 10 years old, Momma raised the last 5 of us on one income from a job in an industrial laundry, Momma past away when I was 24; on Dec. 31, 2021 she would have turned 100 years old, though when she pasted away she was only 66. I don't get the opportunity to watch very often but I always enjoy you when I get the chance. Blessings for you and your family.

I use the entire can - meat, liquid, skin, and bones, just like my mom did. I add a little milk; it seems to cut the fishy taste. I add garlic powder, pepper, basil, tarragon, 2 eggs, and club cracker crumbs - just enough to form patties. I leave them fairly moist so they don’t cook out dry. I fry with shallow oil in skillet. I have a new air fryer, which I haven’t tried yet. I graduated from Lee County High and Valdosta State, and I did my student teaching at Dougherty High.

Yes, and I also read that you shouldn’t fry in olive oil especially EVO because it can’t take high heat. It breaks down or something. I see a bunch of KZfaqrs fry in olive oil and also in canola oil. I think canola breaks down into something nearly toxic under high heat. I was kinda surprised at all I read about the dangers of canola oil. I wish I could remember exactly what it said. I guess I should look it all back up.

Eddy, I'm watching from Manchester NH!! Born and raised in NH. And yes, we call it American Chop Suey in New England & it is delicious. I've never made salmon croquettes but grew up on salmon pie which is very similar. Keep up the good work all of you because you are all so entertaining and I've been trying new recipes :)

Thumbs up from Texas! Love these my mom called them salmon patties. I keep cans of salmon in my cupboard.. I like a lot more onion in mine and also I use 2 or 3 eggs and I use crackers and bread crumbs. anyway you do it.. it is very good. I will have to try the air fryer as I have always fried in skillet on stove in shallow oil. I put panko on top of many dishes/casseroles. Do you get up with the chickens to do this show... lol . mighty early nice alram clock.... I love to hear chickens crowing..( wake up wake up) lol... not that I ever get to... but I have stayed with relatives that had chickens years ago... I loved it... love and best dishes thanks for this version of salmom.xoxo

The flavor is in the liquid so I don’t drain my salmon. As my binding ingredients I use 1 egg and approximately 1 tablespoon of flour. I don’t make patties...I scoop the mixture with large serving spoon and gently place them in a skillet with hot oil. One of these days I am going try air frying my croquettes. I enjoy all of your videos.🥰
