In this video, I walk one of the scramblers favourites up Crowden Clough and onto Kinder Scout, before making my way over to Mount Famine and South Head. A 14 mile route on a glorious sunny day

Nice video Ant. Looked tough going up the scramble, more like mountaineering! Think you both deserved an ice cream. 👍

Hi Kelly. I love walking on Kinder Scout, but it makes the walk even better if there’s a nice scramble to the top. Hope you’re ok? Thanks for watching 🙂

Great walk Anthony. I love the Crowden Clough scramble; for me it is more fun than Grindsbrook and the views from Crowden Tower are epic. I tried the Sandy Hays route onto Kinder in June on a very hot day, it was very long and steep but good fun. I went off piste onto the rocks on the top section. I well remember the steep ascent onto Mount Famine, it is indeed a thigh burner! I am back up in August, cannot wait. Some cracking walks planned for sure 👍

Hi Greg. I agree that it’s a fab scramble and more interesting than Grindsbrook. Not sure if you’ve seen my latest video yet where I did the Birchen Clough scramble. That was great fun. Hope you have a great time in August and the weather is kind to you 🙂

Thank you Anthony! I watched this yesterday evening and was thinking about what you said about the long distance walk. I've took the plunge and rebooked a walk I didn't complete last year due to illness. I tried again April but picked up a knee injury. This time I'm showing up! Good luck to your friend for his Y3P! Have a great week ahead! 👍🙂🥾⛰️

Hi Nathan. Thanks for watching as always 👍. Which trail are you looking at doing? It’s the setbacks that often make us stronger and prepare even harder for the next one. Good luck with it all. I do miss not being out on those trails

@@AnthonyJohnson1 The Snowdonia Slate Trail has been at the top of my wishlist for quite some time. Its not got the distance of some of the bigger trails but it certainly has the landscape, history and culture! Thanks for the words of encouragement! ⛰️🥾👍

Hi Anthony, really enjoyed the film. I reckon that was the same morning I started the Pennine Way, (Saturday 9th July), I remember seeing the helicopter flying low above Kinder. If I'm right I was one of the crowd making his way at a snail's pace up JL. Happy to say I completed the PW on 24th...Great experience. I would love you to walk and film the C2C sometime. You did such a great job filming the PW. In many ways it is a more satisfying/interesting walk, the 3 national parks, and 2 coastlines to start and finish on. I got a greater sense of completion at the end of the C2C reaching the North Sea and throwing my pebble into the waves. ATB Maurice

Hi Maurice. Many congratulations on completing the Pennine Way. You certainly had some great weather for the trip. I bet you passed that big group of D of E students on your first day. I remember them heading down Jacobs Ladder as we passed by. I will definitely do the C2C at some point. I’m not going to get chance this year as I’m planning on going to Loch Lomond in September. I think it’s something I’ll look to do in 2023. I’m still hoping to do a 5 or 6 day trail this year.

A really fab walk Anthony and perfect weather you had. I must say Crowden Clough did look pretty tough from where I was sitting! 😅 Great views from the top of course though. Mount Famine and South Head were interesting places too and it was good to see a different route to and from Kinder than the more obvious ones. You and Glenn certainly earned those ice creams afterwards! 😁👍
@AnthonyJohnson12 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick. It’s certainly one of the tougher walks, but a very rewarding one when you get to the top. The weather was testing though. Definitely made it even more of a challenge. The ice cream at the end was a perfect finale 😁

Accidentally did Clowden Clough yesterday 6.8.22, we turned right through the woods instead of keeping on towards Jacob's ladder. What an accident to make though. Quite grueling on the calves but fantastic hike up to the top and onwards to Kinder Low. Need a return visit :)

Hi Anthony, good to see you out again. This year seems to busy for a lot of people. The hike looked great with nice views and you certainly had the weather on your side. Looks like you had a bit of a breeze which hopefully helped take the edge off the heat, especially on the climbs. I think I have descended down the clough before but from Crowden Tower, so the easy route. The scramble looked like fun and nothing too difficult, really enjoyed the video. Thank for sharing. Tony

Hi Tony. It’s a nice scramble and the difficulty is probably determined by the weather. I can imagine it being good fun in the winter when there’s a lot of water coming down the waterfall. Hope the injury has started to improve 🙂

My absolute favourite scramble in the peaks, I've done it in all weather's and it's always different. You missed the chimney exit at the very end which can be funny to watch, as your mates get wedged in and stuck🤣

It’s a great scramble isn’t it? As you saw, it was bone dry when we tackled it in the summer. I bet it’s great fun this time of year when the water is fast flowing. I’m going to go back a new tackle it again over the winter. Thanks very much for watching 🙂

Hi Anthony I’ve not been up crowden Clough, it looks like a good scramble. Mount famine and south head are good places to walk. I walked the top part of alport Dale the other day for the first time. Absolutely beautiful and not a soul in sight. Have you walked that?

Great video Anthony. Tough conditions with the heat too. Any chance you could post a link to the route for this one? We did the Yorkshire Wolds Way back in May. Definitely a walk you could do in 5 or 6 days & a national trail too. ATB Simon

Hi Simon. The Yorkshire Wolds Way looks a nice trail. As i’ve previously walked the Cleveland Way, I did consider the Wolds Way given the end point is also in Filey. The mapping I use doesn’t allow me to share a website link to the route in the way ViewRanger did. I can send you a GPX file of the route though if you’re on Twitter or Instagram. Feel free to send me a message via one of those methods and I’ll send you the GPX 👍

@@simonhopkinson1815 excellent. You’ll love the PW. One of the best experiences of my life. My tip would be to just use the time beforehand preparing the body. Get used to back to back 20 mile days. I found daily stretching helped massively too. Particularly now I’m getting old 😆
