In this video, my daughter Lily and I take a walk to Robin Hoods Stride, Hermits Cave and the nine ladies stone circle. A part of the Peak District that dates back to the bronze age so lots of history on offer.

Glad to see you out again Anthony. As the Father of a teenage daughter myself, it is quite the challenge for them to admit that their Father EVER has a good idea...quite a beautiful area !

Haha. Very true. My daughter doesn’t see walking as a good idea. She sees it as an opportunity to get a free takeaway afterwards. She’ll be back out again on Christmas Eve for our traditional Christmas Eve walk. Thanks very much for watching 👍

Very true Paul. Truth be told, I’ve lost mine a bit since I got back from the Pennine Way. Life has somehow got in the way a bit. Apologies that I’m behind with your videos too but I’ve had very little spare time of late. I’ll catch up with them, starting with your winter gear load out as I’ve been looking forward to watching that. Hope you’re well buddy 👍

Hi Anthony & Lilly!! Great video, always love it when I see one of your thumbnails pop up 😁 Love your videos cus they are always educational and full of interest. That little carving was cool 😎 amazing how the hermit did that. Robin hood must have had some insanely long legs 😆😂 I bet if you sat on that bench and started getting things out those cows would have been straight over with curiosity haha. Glad Lilly made some friends ☺ Always hard if she hasnt walked like that for a long time though. Good job for doing it 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏼 Nice little area you found, always great when you find new hidden away things. Glad you got your miles bang on too 😂 Thanks for sharing mate hope you're well 🙏🏼👍🏻 Chris

Thought I was improving more than I was at home. Went into work today for light duties but manager sent me home after a few hours said I looked too uncomfortable ☹ Think I need to rest more but cus im such an active person usually I find it very hard to not be lol. A feature packed walk Anthony, lots of interesting places and history to explore. The lengths a daughter has to go to to get a takeaway, still she did well for a 9 mile walk if she hasn’t been out for a long time. Think all hikers have a habit of not sticking to the promised mileage. I know I also have a bad reputation amongst my family for extending the walks, I’m impressed that you managed to keep to the plan. Good to see you out again.

A regular spot for me that area, especially Birchover and Stanton Moor as where I take my students for expeditions, Rowtor Rocks is believed to be carved by a Thomas Eyre in the 1700's the Eyre family are also connected to North Lees Hall, where Charlotte Bronte use to visit and used the name Eyre for her famous novel Jane Eyre - cheers

@@AnthonyJohnson1 Dressing properly and not feeling the cold is of upmost importance to enjoy the outdoors (at least for me). I always find that down jacket is not sufficient when staying outside for many hours near the frezing point unless you have some mid layer that cut wind under your down jacket. Too much discomfort may discourage Lily to stay outside for long runs; but, she's doing well and should persist hicking with you. Later she will realise the privilage she had doing this with you. Keep up the good work !
