In this video, my friend Glenn and I walk from Crowden over to Wildboar Clough which is possibly the toughest scramble in the Peak District. From there we head over Bleaklow to check out a plane crash site before descending down Near Black Clough and over to check out the Middle Black Clough waterfall.
A tough but great day of walking

Good evening Anthony, Love the name of this one, certainly ticking all the epic boxes! 😎 The boulder field looked like great fun, very different from mountain scrambling!ayne something you have experienced on your recent Scotland trip!? (Loving the social media on that btw 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️) 👌 Wise move on the bailout path, always handy, and glad to see commen sense is alive and well! 🥴 Looked plenty tough, a good challenging day out! I spy with my little eye something beginning with "P"....... 👀......Path! Love the name Black Clough, sounds very piratey 🏴‍☠️ Loved the waterfall and tea stop, what a day! Glad you gotnto see it and share it with us, fab! Have a great week, thanks for the video, Ceri and Kat ☕️❤️🧭🗺👍

Hello Ceri and Kat. Thanks for watching as always. It was a different challenge to a typical mountain scramble as several sections were like rock climbing! A doddle for those skilled at climbing, but a challenge for a lightweight like me 😆. Black Clough does have a bit of a pirate sound to it doesn’t it? It is on a river so I suppose a small pirate ship would fit. Scotland is great thanks. A mixed bag of weather, but it’s not snowing yet so that’s a bonus!. Have a great week guys 🙂❤️👍

Looks like a really tough walk / scramble! Following your last video I went up to Dog Rock yesterday, incredible views! I followed the Clough all the way to the top, then cut across to Torside castle. Then cut across the moors to James’s thorn where there is a plane crash site followed by a scramble down Ashton Clough where there is another plane wreck site (bits of wreckage along the Clough). And a few days ago I went up Blackden Brook Clough. This time I made it all the way up and loved it! Possibly my favourite ever walk! Enjoy Scotland 👍

Hi Kevin. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed your hike over to Dog Rock. Definitely some of the best views in the Peaks. Sounds like you’ve been on some great adventures of late 🙂

I can see you love the outdoors as much as I do.I have never visited the peak district, my visit to the UK usually ends in London, I will do better next time. Subscribed to follow your journey.

Now that really IS a scramble Anthony! I've heard of Wildboar Clough and have seen one or two other videos of people scrambling up it. Well done for getting up there 😀 I want to do Near Black Clough myself at some point, so nice to see you and Glenn along that route. Didn't realise there was another crash site on Bleaklow, so good to see that. All in all that looked a pretty fantastic walk Anthony. Hope you enjoyed your time in Scotland 👍

Thanks for watching Patrick. It’s definitely up there with one of the toughest. Plenty of bits were too technical for me so I’m glad there was a bail out route available. Had a great time in Scotland thanks. Plenty of videos to come from my epic adventure 😊

That was some trek and for once I’m not envious at all. You guys must be fit to do that. Not many will venture that way to see the wreckage. Hope Scotland was a blast. Loved the upload. Cheers

Hi Kelly. It’s certainly a test and although I’d consider myself to be fairly fit, I’ve got zero upper body strength which is a big disadvantage when trying to pull yourself up those rocks! I ought to get to the gym more, but I’m an outdoors person so it’s not going to happen 😆

I am behind on watching KZfaq at the moment, but am so glad I watched this tonight. It’s a great route and I absolutely agree it is a tough one. You hit the nail on the head - when it is damp the rocks are lethally slippery. It’s certainly best to avoid doing it solo in anything other than dry conditions. The biggest waterfall is definitely a rope job if you want to be sure of living and bailing is definitely the wise route 👍 I quite like to do the return via Torside Clough as the views are epic. You and Glenn did really well on what is a tough one. That said, next time I am up in the Peaks I am planning to head here as it is a lot of fun 😬🤣 Thanks so much for posting this, really enjoyed it. Now… I need to catch up on your Scotland trip!

No worries Greg. It’s a great route and a good challenge that’s for sure. I can imagine it must be epic when a lot of water is flowing over the waterfall. You’ll have a great time when you walk the route. Hope you enjoy the Scotland videos. Plenty more to come when I get round to editing them!

Wow, what a great day with plenty of challenges along the way. Respect for taking the common sense approach, a wise move looking at it from the top. Definitely ropes and experience required for the part. Nice to see some less well trodden areas of the Peak District. I bet you slept well afterwards. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tony. It’s certainly a fun walk and scramble but one where you need to know your limits. I’m a bit risk averse when safety is at play so I was happy to take the bail out route on this one!

I must do Wildboar Clough before I'm too old! Good stuff. The tunnel at Woodhead now carries power cables for National Grid.

I’d highly recommend Wildboar Clough. There was no water running down when I did it, so I’d like to go back and see it when the waterfall is in full flow. Thanks for the explanation behind Woodhead tunnel. I did wonder what it was being used for. Thanks for watching 🙂

A spectacular route Anthony and one I've never done, though I have descended via MBC in the past. It looked very dry and I bet it's even more impressive after heavy rain.....although it might be impassable then?

Hi Chris. The river crossing does look challenging in bad weather. Having said that, I think you could make it over with walking poles to help keep you upright. There is a higher path also over to the waterfall if the river is in full flow. I bet it’s a fab sight when the waterfall is fast flowing

'skilled' climber 😂 The crux is doable without ropes, but as you said, you need to be pretty confident in your climbing ability. Looking back through strava it looks like myself and my friend did use the escape on the main crux when I last did it, not safe to do in the wet. So many great bits and pieces to explore up on Bleaklow, a fantastic part of the peak district.

I’ve seen your bouldering videos on Instagram and you’re rapid scaling those walls, so that makes you skilled in my eyes 😆. I did enjoy the route though and will definitely go back when there is more water flowing down as it was bone dry due to the recent weather. I think I might need your expert tuition though to get me up safely during winter!
