The narrator is correct. This is 'Nii man.' In the 50s there was a need to relocate the Muslim community from Accra central and the mantse gave this land for the resettlement. Hence, 'Nii man' . Pronouncing 'Nii man' was a mouthful and it eventually shortened to 'Nima'.

Yes Nima is safe. In the 80s and 90s I used to change money ($) in Nima. The places looked scary but safe. They will sit me down in a small room serve me drink take my dollars, go out and come back in a few minutes with my cedis equivalent. Then escort me to the roadside and fine a safe taxi for me. I mean a safe taxi, someone they know. Wow Nima

Every Zongo are the only places in Ghana where the foreigners out number the native Ghanaians. I hope the word Zongo, which is of Moshie origin, if it is in the Dictionary has got that defination down. I lived in 441 in 1971 and 72 just out of Secondary, with a brother due to the cheap rents there, then the lowest in Accra. How can you talk of Nima without showing us the Huge filthy drains choking with trash. Really?
