The plaintiff says the defendant’s dog was off-leash and attacked her little Chihuahua, who died later that day. She’s suing for the dog’s value, vet bills, and costs associated with the attack. The defendants say they sympathize with the plaintiff, but they claim she’s trying to take advantage of them since they’ve already paid her.

@@bakenator7420 I agree, ppl need to research before getting a dog, especially a pittbull- type breed. Alot of areas don't even allow them but if so, they need to make sure they can keep them securely contained at all times on their own property. When walking them in public, securely leashed & muzzled to avoid any attacks. They're a dangerous breed & need to be treated as such.

@bellsonfresh
@bellsonfresh 3 жыл бұрын
I‘m not saying you’re wrong, because damages done by dogs should be dealt with. I was bitten by our neighbor’s (small) hunting dog. Still have the scares up til today. However as a dog owner, dogs should be able to run around without a leash. We have a fenced backyard but whenever we walk them outside once we’re outside our village and there are only fields and forest left we take them off leash. It’s a basic need for dogs to be able to run around. That’s their nature
@bellsonfresh
@bellsonfresh 3 жыл бұрын
@@BirdNerd52 I never once said that I „need“ to have a dog. But dogs are pretty much made by humans. We live on the countryside. Backyard is huge and fenced. Literally no one cares whether the dog is leashed. I just don’t get people who are living in the city and rather urban areas. Why do they have a dog? There’s no space whatsoever. Animals need nature. The first time we adopted a dog who would’ve been put down otherwise. He doesn’t like other dogs due to never having social interactions with other dogs (he was caged couple years before and badly mistreated by all of his previous owners). We knew about his hardship, kept him away from others. Easy as that. He slowly started to trust us (me being a small child about 4/5yo) and made some dog friends, though we always kept him on a leash while being around other dogs. As I said we live on the countryside, there’s only fields and forests here. Of course they’re going to smell some wild deer and stuff, they tried running away but as soon as we called their names they came back asap. We do training and stuff, my mom‘s a certified dog trainer, we‘re part of a dog club, doing tournaments etc. Our dogs know how to behave and it’s highly unlikely they will ever attack anyone (not impossible). If you really know dogs, you know when they don’t like other dogs and you don’t put them together and always watch out for them. Basic responsibility of owning ANY pet/animal

Sadly, many people think of dogs as disposable property that is easily replaced. So they don’t take care of the dog, get it healthcare, spend the time to train it. My neighbor has a dog in a kennel 24/7/365. They almost never even interact with the dog. I reported them to animal control who made them get a dog house for the poor thing. I feel so sorry for that dog, doomed to a lonely life in a 15x30 foot rectangle. I hear it whimpering all night. He got loose one day and I coaxed him back into their yard and closed the gate. Poor thing was terrified. If you’re just going to cage an animal up and ignore it, why even get a dog?
@JSkyGemini

It's despicable. I had a neighbour who left his 2 shaggy black German Shepards out 24/7, in the blistering heat with no food and no water. He'd go away on Friday and not come back for days while the dogs suffered in the yard. I called Animal Control and they told me they couldn't do anything because the dogs weren't on my property. So on one of these weekends, I couldn't take it anymore and went over to leave them food and water. I found a little bunny in a cage, who was also left with no food or water. I called Animal Control again and got the same song and dance. But the dogs decided they'd rather be with us and dug a hole under the fence to come over to my house. I called Animal Control and this time they came and got them. That night, the creep had them back and stood outside my door threatening and yelling at me. I just told him to get the hell off my property and if he keeps abusing his animals, I'll call on him again. Of course, it happened again. He was a dope fiend who was constantly sneaking out the back and hopping the fence to avoid bill collectors, the police and anybody else who knocked on his door. He was eventually evicted, but left all his garbage behind, including a garage full of beer bottles that when they opened that door, a swarm of fruit flies came out of there like a swarm of locusts. There were so many bottles you couldn't even see the floor. That was a year of hell.

Right? She's so the opposite of Judge Judy. She allows questions and will consider affidavits where Just won't. Judy's just a mean person, which all makes for great TV, when she's dressing down idiots, but I've always thought Marilyn Milian acted more in line with an authentic judge rather than a "TV personality". So many towns and cities have unfair pit bull policies that could have ended with their dog being put down as a result. When my daughter was 4 she got bit by my neighbors pitbull on her hand. My neighbor was so afraid that I was going to get his dog put down, because where we lived there’s a city law that if a pitbull bites anyone even once they can be put down. It was my daughter’s fault because she had stuck her hand in the fence into my neighbor’s yard and somehow the dog’s teeth grazed her hand causing a wound on her finger. I assured him that I wasn’t going to file a complaint against his dog because I felt that it was an accident not an “attack”. My neighbor paid for all my daughter’s medical bills. We never had any problems with his dog nor him, fortunately I felt that he was a very responsible dog owner. It’s never the dog’s fault it’s the owner’s fault is very true.

My parents had a golden retriever pitbull mix she was a loving dog to people but if she saw a smaller animal she would go crazy and try to kill it at all cost. She killed anything that came in her fence raccoons possums rabbits a stray cat. Once she ripped a fender off a car because she smelled a mouse in it. She got out of the fence one time and killed almost all my parents chickens. I looked out the window to see her run from one chicken to another she would grab one kill it as fast as she could drop it and chase down the next one. I personally wouldn't trust a Pitbull from what I've seen in her behavior also most of the times I see a dog attack it involves a Pitbull. Before someone says it's the owner that makes the dog my parents also had a black lab and she was loving to man and beasts big and small she was raised in the same home and conditions at the sametime and she never killed a thing.

@@meh4072 "Genetic engineering, also called genetic modification or genetic manipulation, is the direct manipulation of an organism's genes using biotechnology." Breeding is not genetic engineering. Pitbulls were bred to fight and especially to be "game" meaning they won't quit. Many dogs were bred for attacking people. I would rather be attacked by a 60 lb. Pitbulls than a 120 lb. Rottweiler. I have owned and known many pitbulls and none of them ever attacked anyone. They can be scary But no more than many large breeds. Unfortunately a lot of morons get pitbulls for the wrong reasons and treat them wrong.

The judge really wasn’t able to remove her own past experiences after watching her cat die. She ruled this case with her emotions which is unprofessional and quite honestly I do think this woman will continue to keep suing them for more and more money every time her mental health is exacerbated. She called the police to have this woman arrested….. her responses are not of a rational person. The dog should be on a dangerous dog list and they should have had the dog properly locked up. The ongoing costs that she’ll keep coming for though …. I bet they’ll regret that day for a loooooooong time to come.
