All fingers are important for armwrestling. But training the thumb is harder compared to other fingers with conventional exercises. That's why the thumb is left out. Strong pinky and ring finger is super important for hook pullers. Thumb and index finger is super important for toprollers.

About a year ago, inspired by that video you included here, I bought one of these forearm rings and cuz I work a desk job and have down time at moments and I just pump my thumb like in the video, all day every day, no consistent reps, sets or rests, just at random when I don't have anything particular to do, and I gotta say, people that used to be able to hold my hand comfortably, now when I close my thumb say that it's either really hard to contain my pronation or they just feel powerless from the very start. It really works, buts you cant just rely on the thumb alone, you have to have every other base strength to go with it imho

I'm skinny as fuck, but my thumb muscles are massive, people always ask if I have an injury because they look swollen, guessing it comes from a mixture of hobbies and work, my job requires good clamping force and grip, and my hobbies of mountain biking, which involves digging the trails and I also do some climbing. Maybe I should man up and join a local AW club, scared of injuries though.

One of the number 1 exercise for arm wrestling is pull ups, 1 or 2 sets of hammer curls and 1 set of arm curls for 20 to 50 reps. I Also would work out on a arm wrestling machine like Travis B. back in the good old days! God bless!

I think his thumb is one unique part of his arsenal. I think the most unique part of his arsenal is how is childhood forearm injury healed and allowed him to later on catch people in hooks or posts, way above his weight class. I don’t think the 2009 Cyplekpv super match would have looked so dominant had John Brzenk not grown this type of arm-lock, if you will, among many other matches of course.
