There are many brilliant demos on Scoop. Most of them better than what now is pop. Demos.

@@krollpeter I actually like the ' Call Me Lightning' demo on "Scoop" better than The Who's version (though it does have an incredible bass guitar solo)!

@@whatevershebrings I agree. Isn't it stunning how complete his demos are?

Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but this is not the demo that was included with the 1st edition of the Maximum R&B book that I purchased and absorbed back in the early-80s. On that record, you could hear Pete sniffling with a running nose and the "traffic noises," as he put it, in the background. Regardless, this is a terrific example of introspective songwriting from the man who came as close to perfecting that art form as anyone has.

Yep that's right! Not Maximum R&B though, this was on the solo album "Scoop." You are right about the traffic noises though.

I'm not sure that I'm understanding you...This video/song was NOT the demo that was included with the 1st Edition of the Maximum R&B book, correct? Are you saying that this version was on Scoop -- and not in the book?

Timberwright Svs yep that’s exactly what I’m saying. Scoops first track is So Sad About Us/Brrrr. The track opens with Pete saying something like “This is a very valuable Pete townshend recording, at his home, unaccompanied, with traffic noises in the background.” Whoever made this video cut off the intro.

Yeah, I want that intro to this piece that you can find on the box set that came out in the 90's. "Pete, alone, unaccompanied, by himself, with traffic noises in the background" That whole bit. For me, that makes the whole song.

Is there a full recording of this version somewhere? so good.

This is my truth. Never met a good rich man. Solo sad Pete that you hate me so much to sell your soul for power and control. To watch me being led into such sexual abuse by a drug that people intensionally knew what it would do. I was so naive and stupid. Not bad. I don't hate. I wish you a healthy love. Stop playing Tommy for 30 years. You are a genius of a musician use your power for love. So sad. I thought you were so special. My truth.
