One of my all-time favorite guitar oriented songs. Frampton's guitar lines, chord choices, etc are just so damn melodic and beautiful. His guitar tone and technique is truly impeccable. One of the most criminally underrated guitarists of all time. He way up on the list for me.

Peter Frampton was called "The Face" in his day. Many Teenage girls had his poster on their walls, and some mother's too lol. Don't let his good looks fool you, he was an incredible guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was one of the few Rock Guitarits that can rock and get melodic and jazzy as well at that time. "Frampton Comes Alive" was one of the most played live records in its day for many years. It might be still number one.

He is rightfully celebrated for the song "Do You Feel Like We Do," but this is the second-to-last track on "Frampton Comes Alive," and for my money, it's the best one on the album. His playing here is absolutely sublime. And as far as the lyrics go, I wore this song completely out when my first marriage fell apart. It sounded really, really familiar.

The guitar he's playing & played for 10 years exclusively was taken in 1980, thought to have been burned up in a plane crash. Almost 31 years later a friend of Peter's found it in Venezuela, where it was stolen, bought it & returned it to Peter... return of the Phenix! Amazing

I had no idea when I first heard this song, decades before I got married, that it was actually written about my first marriage. Protip, people: if you are not the polyamorous type, and your spouse suggest bringing other people into the bedroom to spice things up, or joining other people in their bedroom, just go ahead and call a lawyer and pack your shit, because your marriage over. That line about "She spoke of strangers that don't sleep two a bed"? Ol' Pete is trying to warn you, friends.

Back in the day and small-town America, people would krewstown and just go around in circles and passed by each other over and over again. I remember doing this with my sister because I wasn't old enough to drive yet LOL... Everybody cruising around with their windows down was either listening to Peter Frampton live or Bob seger live or kiss live... Those were the days my friends I think you all missed out on that...

Man, that song…..my fave Frampton track (Comes Alive version). The thing about Peter is that every solo he performs is improvised, so he never plays the same solo twice. so every time, thru the years, when i hear him play this track live, i’m always disappointed because I’ve never heard him again reach the heights that he did that night in San Francisco.

KSHE95 in St Louis played this regularly for years from when it came out, and then well into the late 90s. They also regularly played Do You Feel Like We Do, the long version. KSHE95 is an iconic radio station. Much of my formative musical years in my youth were spent listening to KSHE or it was playing in the background, all day every day throughout my teen years. Good times.

I've flat out been brought to tears by Peter, both in concert and just listening to him since 1971, somewhat like David Gilmour in that you don't have to play fast, just with the kind of feel that goes to your soul. Those dudes just take you away. I've seen most of the very best rock guitarists and he was no doubt one of the best. Try Changing All the Time from his brilliant self titled 1994 release. It gives me freaking chills. He was always great! 🎸

This was from one of the top selling double live (two records) releases of all time. The amount of years this stayed on the charts selling away was phenomenal. This was definitely one the most beloved tracks on this release right behind "Do You Feel Like We Do". The man is pouring out his heart and soul vocally and through the guitar...pure magic! I was only ten, going on eleven when I bought this, back in the day. All the older kids and young adults were certainly into him. Even though I was too young to be hip to the lyrical content there was no problem connecting to that vibe and understanding just how special this expression through music was. Was just beginning to play guitar and to this day I have to say it's one of the most beautiful solos ever to be laid down in time. Thanks for the reaction🙏🏼 Asia, part of Peter's guitar rig consisted of a Leslie speaker cabinet...where the high end horn on top would spin and a baffle over the speaker would spin too real slow or fast. It was like his secret sauce, so to speak. Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour were known to use them too. They were huge and weighed as much as an NFL lineman🤣

Peter Frampton is a British Guitarist that plays Melodic, Jazzy and Rarely Riffs around in the Pentatonic Scale. Peter played in Humble Pie before he went Solo, No Doubt you can hear his Jazz influences, He's with Jeff Beck being heads above alot of Guitarists. The Double Lp "Frampton Comes Alive," released in the 70's demonstrates his Prowess on the Fingerboard. Jeff Beck, Mick Jones & Peter liked Les Pauls Guitar Playing. I prefer the Version of "Lines on my Face" from his Double Lp "Frampton Comes Alive" My friend Walter & I jammed "Do you feel like we Do & Show me the Way," With Mark Plades from LA. Bob Mayo plays Keyboards & A Sweet Walnut Stained Stratocaster on the Lp, Bob is a great Musician, Peters Band on The Double Lp Kicked Butt. Peter Frampton played a Custom Gibson Les Paul "Black Beauty" with 3 Humbucker Pickups, Peter & Bob have Sweet Guitars. I tried to get Walter to Jam "I'll give you Money" by Frampton, We both liked "Doobie Wah, Baby I love your Way & Somethings Happening." I totally agree with Lee & Doc. Peter knows Chords, inversions and his Lead Voicings are Melodic, The Talk Box enabled Peter to be demonstrate his Lyrical Voicings on a Les Paul, That is Awesome. I absolutely love Peter Framptons Guitar Greatness.

And he's playing what is now known as the "Phoenix" guitar, his favorite guitar, a guitar thought to be lost in a plane crash 30 years before. Turns out someone saved the guitar from the burning plane, but then ended up keeping it and playing it for like 30 years. No one even knew it still existed until someone spotted it and thought he recognized it. That person bought it, and presented it back to Frampton, it was his guitar, and then Gibson fully went about setting it up and fixing it, but they left the burn scars and visual imperfections and again, it's now called "The Phoenix" because it rose again from the ashes. True story, there's lots of videos on KZfaq about it, just a crazy true story, and today it sounds just like it did on Frampton Comes Alive.

It is nice to be reminded of this. I was there, maybe a little old, a bit wistful for the 60s but I totally loved this record. As a musician I also loved the Rhodes piano and Bob Mayo plays really well. This is the only major rock band lineup I recall that combines the two instruments in a live setting. (Another example, Ray Manzerek of the Doors plays a Rhodes on "Riders on the Storm"). Just lovely and brilliant.

I loved that album, we saw Peter (first of 9 shows from 1973 - 2008 or so) open for J Geils and Humble Pie and he was on fire, he looked like he was set free to do what he wanted and put on a guitar clinic, soaring notes into the twilight. That was a killer hour long set to warm us up for the manic Peter Wolf and the J Geils rock and blues machine and then we get Steve Marriott and his unique voice. That tour is on You Tube, Search for Humble Pie, Live at Winterland, you will be oh so glad you did. Great tunes and times, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

This song here IS THEE BEST if you want to listen to the true genius and talent of Peter Frampton. The way he plays from his soul and heart on this song listening to the lyrics this must have been a real personal experience for him i.e. to a woman/wife leaving him. Don't know if this really true or not but the way plays and writes these lyrics you can definitely hear and feel his pain for sure.

Also, I heard him say in an interview that early on in his career, after his huge success album, Frampton comes alive, someone, perhaps his manager, led him astray, and got him doing pop music, rather than the fantastic music that he had already written, and played. He said that’s when his career went South.

One of the greatest albums of all time. He sounds better live than most artists sound in the studio. You should listen to his "Do you feel like we do" from this album. You did a live performance from the Midnight Special show, which was very good, but this album version will blow you away.
DEFINITELY NOT HAPPENING ON MY WATCH! 😒
