Florio is delusional. You could give McDaniels or Patricia 10 years and they wouldn’t turn a franchise into a winner. Not giving them enough time wasn’t the problem, hiring them in the first place was.
@Windupchronic
@Windupchronic 8 ай бұрын
That's not what he's saying. He's saying that if the owner was going to have them on a short leash he shouldn't have hired them to begin with. Not that they'd be successful if given more time, just that the owner shouldn't have hired them to begin with if this outcome was on the table. Either be prepared to give them a long leash or don't bother hiring them.

The Raiders were more concerned about getting a big name head coach then hiring the best candidate for the job. McDaniels proved in Denver he just doesn't have what it takes to be a Head Coach. Maybe McDaniels could be a good college HC, but he's not qualified to be an NFL HC.

Since their Super Bowl appearance, Raiders have been to the playoffs twice. Once with Rich and Mike after a lot of team adversity. MD needs to stop meddling like his dad always did (when he got too old). MD seems to be unable to recognize how inept he is at hiring coaches. If AD does well, I expect him to be out the door the same way Rich left.

@@bocagoodtimes1460 Tebow was awful. One of the biggest 1st rd busts in NFL history. His 47 completion % is bottom 5 in NFL history for a 1st rd pick. He averaged 69.2 passing yards per game for his career. That is terrible. Denver had the 32nd ranked passing offense. They had a top 5 defense and run game. Treated like crap? He was a 3rd string QB with the Jets, Patriots and Eagles, who all quickly ditched him. Go read the Elway book on how much of POS Tebow was. How he was lazy, didnt know the playbook. How he charged $30,000 to appear at Broncos charity events. Go read comments from Jets players who said he was lazy, a bad teammate. He also refused to listen to his coaches and refused to come in on wildcat plays designed for him because he felt he should be the starter. With the Eagles he didnt make the roster but didnt stop him in camp from holding press conferences because you know 3rd string duds always do that, right? He was a great college QB but lousy egomaniac who craved the media attention and money in not just the NFL but in minor league baseball where he sucked, took a roster spot from a deserving player all because he was a media circus and made his team and other teams money. Tebow also refused to switch positions. Refused to play in other leagues. His NFL career would've lasted longer if he converted to TE or FB. Of course years later when his minor league career failed he went to the Jaguars and converted to TE for his terrible college HC. That didnt last. Tebow was cut, his coach was one of the worst ever in the NFL. 35 games 2,422 passing yards 17td/9int 75.3 QB rating 47.9 completion % 69.2 passing ypg 12 rushing td 14 fumbles

@@dylanstreibig9234 Denver went 8-8 that year. They won a division where 3 other teams went 8-8 and one went 7-9. Worse division in the NFL that year and had Denver played in another division with that record they would've missed the playoffs. Three 9-7 teams missed the playoffs that year and 8-8 Denver made it. Denver also had a top 5 defense AND run game. They had the 32nd ranked passing offese. People hype his playoff win. Rex Grossman nearly won a Super Bowl. Want to hype him as a good QB? There is a LONG list of average to even bad QB who actually won playoff games. Erik Kramer is the last Lions QB to win a playoff game...and that was 1991 and they made it to the NFC title game. He was a horrible QB. Had 1 good year and it wasnt even 1991. People also ignore how Tebow and Denver did in the next game. 45-10 loss. Tebow went 9-26, 136 yards.

Tom Brady in 3 years with the Buccaneers has more playoff wins than Bill Belichick in 10 years without and him AND his entire coaching tree combined. They have 4 playoff wins, he has 5. Brady had 32 wins with Tampa Bay in those 3 years. That is more than 9 of Belichick's assistants who became head coaches and one less than Mangini who won 33 games in 70 as a HC. With McDaniels being fired, it is a pretty safe bet nobody from Belichick's coaching tree ever gets another head coaching job unless someone is promoted from his staff when he retires or is fired...and that is very likely I would think McDaniels or O'Brien maybe...or Bill's goofy son Steve lol who resembles Sloth from The Goonies with a mullet. Right now Brian Daboll is the only Belichick assistant to currently be a head coach and he has a 11-13-1 record. He absurdly was given coach of the year last year and has proven in 2023 he is headed towards being another failure from Bill's coaching tree. Tom Brady with Tampa Bay: 32-18, 5-2 playoffs, 1x Super Bowl Champion Belichick without Tom Brady: 74-80, 1-2 playoffs (his lone playoff win was 1994 with the Browns) Belichick's coaching tree in the NFL: 248-346, 3-7 in playoffs Bill O'Brien: 52-48, 2-4 playoffs Eric Mangini: 33-37, 0-1 playoffs Romeo Crennel: 32-63, 0-0 playoffs Jim Schwartz: 29-51, 0-1 playoffs Brian Flores: 24-25, 0-0 playoffs Josh McDaniels: 20-33, 0-0 playoffs Nick Saban: 15-17, 0-0 playoffs Matt Patricia: 13-29-1, 0-0 playoffs Brian Daboll: 11-13-1, 1-1 playoffs (2022 coach of the year 🤣) Joe Judge: 10-23, 0-0 playoffs Al Groh: 9-7 Of course Nick Saban by far was the biggest and most successful name from his coaching tree but that was in college. Groh also was a better college coach.

Agreed. Partly to blame is the owner Fcuk Davis. He decided to change a good Raider team under Bisacchia which overcame multiple adversities to reach 2021 playoff. Raiders was a playoff team heading towards 2022. We barely lost to AFC Champs Bengals who got some help from the officials. Fcuk Davis should’ve stick to Bisacchia because he earned the HC job and never should’ve hired MacDummie. 2022 would’ve been a great season for the Raiders but Fcuk Davis & MacDummie spoiled it. This is also karma getting back to MacDummie for the way he treated Derek Carr until Carr unceremoniously left the Raiders. Carr was never the problem and now we know who is the real problem is. Really sad for Davantae Adams who just came to Raiders to play with his college QB but again MacDummie spoiled it.

Could we all, for the love of God, STOP pretending like a coach being from the Belichick coaching tree is a reason to hire someone? Not saying nobody from that system will ever have success, but we do now have a pretty decent data pool telling us that the Patriots imprint doesn't mean somebody will be a good/successful coach outside of the Pats (who also haven't been very good since Brady left).

Raiders still have terrible scouts that were awful under Gruden picking players . Until scouting department is gutted the Raiders will be awful at drafting players.

Josh is great at game planning & play calling but He doesn't have the Head Coaching Personality Needed to Win.

McDaniels went to the Rams after the Broncos fired him. He was their offensive coordinator, called the plays and was awful, got fired after 1 year. He has accomplished nothing without Brady.

If right- what about the details that when McD couldn’t get Brady to play for him at the Raiders- he called back Carr & tried to get him back? If the 4 or 5 years to get the crucial new players in place and acting like soldiers- then he wouldn’t have tried Brady. He wouldn’t have tried getting back Carr. And little soldier theory- do you remember Brady screaming his frickin head off at McD when he came off the field? Remember it happened pretty frequently. Remember sports casters saying how brady yells at him more than all other QB combined? C’mon man. Smarten up. Haha

Guys that won with Brady are not good coaches they listened to the greatest player ever that often gave input to better his career and not leaving his career in a coaches hand that’s why tom was so dominant in 2 minute drill/ end of game because it was all him and we go as i say not these coaches. They get looked at because you came from a winning culture like anyone couldn’t have won just letting tom takeover and Bill focus on the defense

It doesn't take 3-4 years to see that McDaniels, Joe Judge, or Matt Patricia are not NFL head coach material. Turning over the roster in 3-4.years will not make either of them a quality head coach..

How do you know? There is basically no data whatsoever.Shanahan started 10-22 as a SF head coach. BB has the Patriots in the 16th seed in the AFC. Coaches need talent and a winning organization as well. Neither LV, NYG or DET are.

Same as the Raiders shouldn't have hired McDaniels, the Lions never should've hired Patricia. Giving him more time would've made a bad decision 100 times worse. And as a talent evaluator, Brad Holmes smokes Quinntricia.

The raiders get good coaches but they never keep them. Jack Del Rio finally gave the Raiders winning records and they threw him in the dumpster for John Gruden who got fired anyway for saying things 25 years ago. Then Rich Bissacia takes over and wins and they throw him in the dumpster for Josh Mcdaniels who started his own dumpster fire. Even Dennis Allen , they weren’t a playoff team, but he won more games than he should have with no QB and a lackluster depth chart. Be weary of coaches who had top talent, Adam gase, Matt Patricia, Nathaniel Hackett, and now josh Mcdaniels
