For those who care, the original setlist is: Paddy Phase#1, The Nine Points of Rogarry, The Limerick Lassies, The Hunters Purse, Farewell to Ireland, The High Reel, The Kosher Reel, The Laird of Drumblair, Jean's Reel, The Musical Priest. Just imagine a stick with one end.

Johnny's gone, sadly. But Phil is very much alive and well, performing, composing, producing, teaching - he's only just barely 50! I saw them many times back in the day, and even this many years late they still amaze me...

As an old Punk Rocker I have to say this is more hardcore than any punk band. Mindboggling speed, Phil's accordion has difficulty keeping up with him. Brilliant, the stuff that legends are made of.😃

Becoming a SW fan was the beginning of my Celtic journey (okay, I'm Japanese - American and not very Celtic) and my Celtic addiction. In fact, last December, I gave a lecture on Celtic music at my church and included SW in my musical selections. Cheers to Johnny's memory \_/

It's not just their technique, although that is staggering in itself, but the fluidity, expressiveness and sheer musicality with which they imbue(d) their playing. Lots of musos play fast; it's the fashion. But a computer has technique: it will always be able to do it faster, cleaner and more in time and tune. It's the amount of music in your music that counts, and these two are/were real musicians in the only way that matters. Oh, and a sense of fun too ... music is all about good times!

I sat a meter back from them on this tour and recorded it. And I've played about a meter away from Johnny in a live sessiun. Including Phil's deliberate wrong notes. In front of about 29 people. It was quite a relief later to hear the live in Boston double album where they had a decent sized crowd to appreciate them.

Don't know when this was made, but I saw them play at ODU in Norfolk, Va. and they played this very set and looked just like they do in this video. Thank you for posting this, brings back such great times. Johnny was still playing on his Wizard fiddle and he let me play it, what a thrill, such a magical instrument, it was stolen in N.Y. at the airport is what I heard. They were a great team, funny too.

We saw just the 2 of them tour USA a year or 2 later with this exact set in their show, post-Phil-mustache evidently. I'm pretty sure it's on Silly Wizard's live from boston album. I think this video is sped up, but it's pretty amazing how they were playing in this era at normal speed. I was playing Irish pipes in a music workshop sessiun once when Johnny sat down one seat away from me. Trust me, I shoved my beer far far away and thought very carefully before joining in with any other tunes.

Saw them several times at International House and the Cherry Tree on Penn's Campus. Even after he left the group, Johnny would show up and join them on stage. Their show became cheidhlis, with people dancing at the back of the room.

I remember those shows vividly. And their Green Willow appearances in Delaware. One of my best memories of Johnny was him closing the Philadelphia Ceili Group's festival in 1982 or '83, when it was still held outdoors at Fisher's Pool near Lansdale. He was part of a pickup band with Gerald Trimble, Tim Britton, and Mark Simos, and their sound just thundered through that perfect P.A. setup they always had at that festival.

@darragh1980 "Limerick Lasses," "Farewell to Erin," "Sandy Duff," bit of something deleted, "Laird of Drumblair" done as a reel, accordion tune whose title I forget, closing with "The Musical Priests." I heard them do this set with Silly Wizard live just a few feet away in a small pub concert setting. It's among those on the outstanding "Live in America" album.

Ok it's not sped up in the way a tape would do it. Digital time compression is another matter, doesn't need to alter the pitch --but I won't press the point. What's 2% among friends? I must be at least 10% slower than either one of them.
