What up CT I agree with you the lc 6000"s and this yea Bro plus an M1 mac and the Mackie thump Go"s all battery powered that a great setup i use the Lc"s and and my s11 with a power bank just a killer setup i might really check this out for sure. Oh by the way next time you stuck in Detroit give us a holler we got you bro lol.

hi, I have tested it yesterday and for the price a reloop elite is way better. Maybe an used rane. The problem here is the price. 900 Euros here in germany, thats insane for this kind of mixer. Nice video man!!! :D

The Mixer powering the Macbook is what I have designed it to be capable of. The 12 Macbook from Apple only has on USB-C Port.

Hey Cleve....thanks for all the info, but I do have a question. Have you notice if you turn the trim knob to 3' o clock you get a reverb sound? or am I not doing something right. Thanks again man.

I struggle to call this entry level at the price point. It's obviously a great mixer, it's just a tough sell at that price for me if I'm entry level I'm spending that money on a controller

We have to not think of the price. Think of the quality and specs. We have ridiculous inflation now, so the price is based on the gas/energy price and chip shortage situation.

I use the Numark scratch and while I like that mixer, the horrible mic quality and the inability to use the other 4 pads per deck have me looking elsewhere. I know you compared this mixer with the "big brothers" the s7 and s11 but how does it compare to the s9 for you?

I want this mixer but no cut in adjustment for standalone? What if I wanna scratch on vinyl? I know you can adjust through serato but you can't without using computer?

Currently using the scratch and as much as I love my baby she numarking it right now and I need to upgrade. This will be my upgrade because the others are to pricy for my blood. I’m on budget my guy.

I have a Numark Scratch as well and don't see the value in upgrading to a S5. I would def upgrade to an S7 or Rane 70 though

I use the scratch also and if there was ever a proper verb, Numarking is it.

Did you use a powered hub for the LC6000 and S5 setup? Or was it a non-powered one that you can just plug into your laptop? I also have a MacBook Pro 14! As for the mixer question, I use a Rane Seventy-Two, and sometimes I'm overwhelmed by the amount of features that mixer has.

No hub, straight into the MacBook.

While not recommended, if you absolutely have to use a hub, make sure to plug power on the second USB-C port. That way, you offload drawing power from the Mac and it won't fight with other devices. You can use a USB charger or battery bank like the one you use for your mobile devices. 5V 1000mA

Pioneer tax makes this too expensive. I bought a Scratch + a single Turntable and once I bought everything else I needed I had spent like $1300. And I got the mixer a new open box for $400. I do love it's bus powered and has Scratch Bank though. I would consider this if it ever droped in price, but it's from Pioneer so who am I kidding? Lol

Can you use it for both vinyl playback and DVS at the same time or does vinyl playback have to go through the computer first?

Vinyl is vinyl and has nothing to do with the computer. DVS requires a computer. You just have to switch to line in when playing traditional vinyl

@@ClevelandTerry Perhaps I need to clarify my question. The end goal is a setup capable of playing both DVS and vinyl records. Some of these systems require that if you want to play just the vinyl record (not the control record) the audio has to get routed into the computer first, and then back to the mixer. Some of these DVS capable devices, allow you to switch to vinyl playback with the audio directly routed to the output within the mixer (no DA conversion). So, perhaps the better worded question is, when you have the "computer input" enabled in the respective mixer channel while using DVS, does the DVS signal get routed to the computer automatically per channel? It seems like it would, but the documentation doesn't explicitly state this.

@@prospectnyc Hi. Did you ever get an answer for this anywhere? Have been trawling every website/video/comments section etc. Nada. There's mention of THRU mode in Serato DJ Pro, but that is hardware dependant with zero info on hardware compatibility. It also reeks of latency. There's a broadcast mode but that again seems to be just a route into OBS with no mention of traditional vinyl. With a traditional vinyl collection and faulty mixer I figured this would be a great way for an old hand to wander into the DVS world. Presumably the sound card in the mixer will allow the standalone vinyl to be played directly through into a laptop etc for streaming. Maybe? Like you said, what if a combination of traditional vinyl and DVS is used? Can it? There's just no one out there that covers the sort of info needed for this use case. There's also no way that there isn't a huge number of old school bedroom djs out there across the world that will probably make this jump when their kit fails or whatever and no one who seems to consider the information important...

Very good review, this helps me and my research. It looks like a decent mixer, but it doesn’t seem like it’s worth $800. Especially if it’s on the level of entry / beginner. I think more along the lines of $600. Also, it technically doesn’t have split queue…, but; as an option, to activate the split queue in the settings?? 🤔 … I guess that’s OK, as long as the split cue functions correctly after going into the settings, because if it didn’t have split cue, it wouldn’t even be worth $600

I have a Numark Scratch. What bothers me most about it is the poor vinyl amplifier. How is the vinyl amplifier from the S5 (sound quality and volume)?

Did not test but mojaxx did and said the vinyl output was fine.

The s5 requires an xp1 etc. It’s doesn’t work with rekordbox out of the box

Im sorry but this is NOT an entry level mixer... it is almost the price of the reloop elite, which besides the usb-c port has NO value over the elite. Seperate pads modes are really not something to brag about... especially at around a 1000 dollars (!!!) My two cents for beginners: Dont buy this mixer. You will quickly outgrow it and you wont love that you have to use shift waaay to much and also you will probably either buy an accessory controller like the pioneer ddj xp2 or a more advanced mixer to have all the controlls... dont listen to these dudes trying to sell you two mixers at the same time.. bc you WILL outgrow it pretty fast and its not even that cheap.. Its also shitty to sell beginners a mixer, which is way more cumbersome to control everything in serato... I mean just look at the way you have to change modes... I mean come on dude... I would love the mixer if it was maybe 100 dollars more than the numark scratch... but as it is..: This is an overhyped stepping stone beginners will quickly outgrow. The only reason people are actually looking at this is bc serato and manufacturers are not making any seperate serato soundcards anymore -.-

I’ve never had a problem with any USB C connection. Mine don’t wobble. Been using using USBC for years.

@@ClevelandTerry First MacBooks to incorporate USB-C were terrible. My Lenovo is better but still this connection is a smaller contact area and doesn't seat securely.
