Please do not consider my comments negative. You are doing a great job showing what you are doing. Better than any other video I have seen. I'm just going to comment as I see something.

I appreciate all comments. And I always take everything as constructive. Thank you for the feedback. Yeah trying to make the videos a little entertaining and useful to anyone considering taking on the challenge. It’s a lot of work sometimes but it’s also enjoyable. The results are very satisfying.

You said you replaced the board? That board has metal fasteners for each of the rear seat metal plates. There are six on each in the front and four on each on the rear that go through the board and are "cleated" to the bottom of the board. That sounds like a real project to cut a new board (3/4" or 1" plywood) then make the cutouts for the side vents, then drill holes for the 40 total "cleats" that must be installed, then the carpet then the metal seat holding mechanisms with the buttons. Your buttons are missing in the back. That is what holds the seats in. Tell me something about that.

I saw that you kind of answered that question in another comment, but sounds like your brackets in the back are a little different than mine. The rear brackets on mine just have holes with some internal hardware that holds on to the seat pegs that insert into them in the back. I show this in the DISASSEMBLY video - ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7B-iaiE282soYE.html )removing and inserting the rear seats.

I am surprised to see a hunk of plywood Piper installed in production. I would have expected a honeycomb sandwich flooring material like Gillfab 4000 series or Teklam.

Yeah me too… I guess it was the best option at the time, for weight/strength, in 1973. Not sure if it’s different today. I would think so though. If anyone has a newer piper, please let us know.

Is the carpet flame retardant with certification?

Yes absolutely. All of the products from Airtex come with all the stickers you need for your logbook. It’s all certified. They’ve been around for decades and have a pattern for just about every GA airplane out there. And they are extremely knowledgeable about the differences between model years for installation if you have questions

That board also has cutouts for the flap spring in the front and for the seat belt hole in the back. Did you use a router to remove that exact amount of plywood? Mine was a fraying a little so I took JB Weld and any place that appeared to be weakening I applied the JB Weld and made the entire board including cutouts much stronger and as thought they were overlaid with fiberglass. I still retained the proper clearance for the flap spring and the seatbelt bolt cutout.

I did use a router. Picked up an inexpensive one from Harbor Freight. I like the idea of adding the JB Weld to that area and others for strength.

I see at 14:46 to 15:00 that the rear seat hold down plates that the seat slide into are missing. Do you have them or are they missing? They go over the top of the plates with the six screws in each one. I had to remove all of those fittings to install the new carpet and cut the hole for the rear seat belts to go through. That part seems to be about the most work intensive. I painted my plywood board black as it was from the factory. I like your detail in your videos and will likely follow them and make further comments you might reply to.

Sounds like the rear feet of your back seats are held in place a little differently on your model year. Mine just press down into holes in the rear plates.
