Piper Tomahawk Update - Close to Taking Flight!

Here is an update of what I have been up to with my 1979 PA38-112 Piper Tomahawk Project. The annual inspection is nearing completion and I'm getting so close to taking to the skies!
In this video is mention of the cowl repairs and painting that was completed, the oil pan heater install, ELT (emergency locator transmitter) install, and all other tasks required to complete the annual inspection.

I like T-tails also. They can be blanked in a spin. If I were designing an airplane I’d be a bit afraid to make it T-tailed. There is a lot of info on spinning the Tomahawk though. From memory: it was spin tested like crazy, then when a first customer did spins he (and his student?) had to unbuckle and scoot forward to get the thing to recover. A structural change was made in the wing between all the spin tests and first delivery. A trip device was added to the leading edge on each side. It was a while ago that I read about this, on line.

Stall strips were added to the leading edge of the wings. They make the stalls a little more benign. I'm looking forward to doing spins in this aircraft soon. I spin every aircraft I fly which prior to owning this Tomahawk has been rental Cherokees and C172s. When I do some spins I'll be sure to collect some footage.

Are you an a&p mechanic or you just work on it yourself?

I'm not. The work I did was under direct supervision of an AME (aircraft maintenance engineer) which in Canada is similar to what you would call an a&p. My AME encourages owner assisted work under his supervision (depending on the skill/capability of the owner)
