I'm 64 and think all these yrs, why hadn't I thought of that. I've started busting up the soil in the hole, instead of trying not to hurt the plants around it, when I dump it to the side. Very nice use of grass as a pathway through your garden. I am a new gardener and am trying to do a similar affect through my garden. I find it is tricky to get the plants in the correct space initially so your videos of digging up and moving plants around has helped me with the confidence to do the same in my garden. I love sedum. I was able to dig up a yellow sedum last year from an elderly couple who have passed on, their old house place. It’s thriving and pretty. I bought a pink sedum at Home Depot yesterday. Plant your day lily in the trees. I do that with plants I don’t want anymore and then when I walk into the trees it’s a nice surprise to see pretty plants. I do that with iris when they need to be divided. Love your videos and your amazing singing! You are a treasure for sure!

Hey Jes , greetings from SE Wisconsin. Im in zone 5A and Im loving your shade gardens and I think I will try some of these beautiful hucheras next year. I look forward to watching your excellent videos every day and love the progress you are making in your yard. Today I had a 42 year old birch clump cut down. We planted it too close to the house and the squirrels were having a hay day jumping on the roof and it was going to do too much damage to the shingles. So now we have these beautiful birch logs to have garden fun with and Im very excited about that. My neighbor will take some, I will keep some and 2 of my daughters can split the rest. And now I will also have a full sun garden in that spot also. Thank you Jes for explaining what you do and why you change things around and share that information with us. Jes, I'm going to keep my eyes open for the Neon sedum, I really like it, but I've never seen it around here. Moving the Bloodgood Japanese Maple was a good call it will be much happier where it will not get the overhead water! You have a great sense of placement in your plantings. I like the idea of adding color, pattern, texture, and shine to every area in the garden. I've always tried to do that, but I had never heard it described in that way ...I love that! I enjoy watching you so much its nice to find someone who has plant brain like me 🙂 i too walk around from bed to bed with plants trying to i invision where they should be planted. I took out my day lilies this year too. Donated them to a boy scout working on his Eagle scout project. Replacing them with some more color. Thanks for sharing your gardens with us.
