"The Cat With Ten Lives" is probably one of the more intriguing episodes of UFO, but also the most fun to watch too!❤❤❤

What a fantastic childhood Samuel must have had, what with his Dad working on Professionals and The Avengers. I wonder if Samuel met Conductor Laurie Johnson, who died earlier this year.

For me The Cat with Ten Lives is a 5 out of 5, as indeed i would say were all the Pinewood episodes that followed it except maybe a 4 for Destruction which was just a touch below that exceptional standard. It's not coincidental that this also marked Vladek Sheybal becoming a regular member of the cast. Quite possibly he is the most magnetic actor to appear in UFO - his voice, his look, he dominates the screen and almost every line he delivers is so memorable. Alexis Kanner gave probably the most eccentric display in the whole of UFO. I'm not sure how much of that was purely down to him or the writing or direction (both by the excellent David Tomblin) but it all contributes to a very powerful episode.

The Avengers became increasingly surreal, almost gothic. Anyone remember the horizontally challenged character ' Mother?' Strange individual.

Dick Spanner in HD! That'll be good. And yes, 4/5 for Cat from me too. It needs to be shown late in the series rather than third which was where a lot of TV stations in the UK and US stuck it.

My Grandad met Brian Clemens during production of The original Avengers. Brian signed a pound note and gave it to my Grandad.

For me the concept of the aliens in this episode which suggests they may be Mysteron-like who take over human bodies to carry out their missions fits events better than the organ-harvesting narrative (even though that is more chilling). It could certainly explain why aliens would go on so many missions where they were likely to be killed by SHADO, not so much an issue if their bodies were expendable and their minds could just be inputted into other bodies (which also echoes Joe 90). Obviously it isn't consistent with the earlier episodes but it fits better with the later focus on mind control by the aliens. There could be other explanations - maybe the aliens do have physical form but feel it is too risky to visit Earth or perhaps there are different alien civilisations or species, one that still has physical form and needs new organs and one which only exists mentally.

I liked;The cat with ten lives,also!It was filmed….brillantly in those day’s!I also like how Jim plays around with the 💂 guard at the bridge 🌉,or whatever you call that thing?And,want’s to thumbprint him on the shoulder!That’s 🥰 cute!The cat 🐱 was very pretty,too!And,I didn’t know that Alexis Kanner was in;The Prisoner?My older sister’s favorite ❤️ show,in the 1990”s.A friend of my mom’s who I knew,didn’t like 🛸 Ufo,because,it was;alway’s about the same thing…..shooting down the UFO’s!For myself,it didn’t really bother me to see the show.I just watched what I liked!
