Lovely, you have such smooth movements. Can I ask you what kind of sport or dance you practiced before getting into pole? How many years have you been doing this?

Thank you! My heart is in the modern/contemporary dance. Honestly, I started taking dancing classes just one year before I discovered pole dancing (5 years ago). I've been through all the struggles and insecurities of learning to dance as an adult. However, I did rhythmic gymnastics for 2-3 years as a child and that's where most of my flexibility originates.

Same question I wanted to ask a soon as the video started. She seems to have amazing body awareness that suggests that she's been a dancer for most of her life. Beautiful flow 😍

It's so inspirational to see how you basically have learn most of your skills directly with pole dancing. I've started to take lessons almost three years ago and I really struggled to find grace and harmony even in the most simple movements at first, since I've been into artistic gymnastic for 10 years of my life and we have a really straightforward way of performing, if that makes sense. You are awesome!

I know what you mean. Gymnastics helps with getting the acrobatics moves, but doesn't help much for the dancing part. Pole dance can be also based on tricks only and could therefore have a similar "mechanical" effect. Indeed, pole dancing made me more self confident. Teaching made me more aware of my movement. Exploring and being curious helped my get creative and find my own style. If you're interested in my background and pole journey, you can find my story here: www.thepoledancer.com/about/

Hey Miglena, can you help me understand how you get the knee grip so tight in the transition from scorpio to dangerous bird (1.15)? When I've tried there's always way too big of a gap after the transition so the dangerous bird doesn't feel safe...advice? :)

Oh yes! Try following: FIRST thread your leg completely through and towards your head, squeeze your thighs and knees together, THEN turn your torso to the floor into bird. In this video I have a very good grip on the pole and can do it simultaneously, but it's safer when you do first the thread and then the turn. I hope this helps you. If you still have problems, send me a video per email. I can have a look.
