Today we're going to do a quick walk around of our BOSS 9' 2" DXT snow plow and hopefully just show you guys how it's holding up after 3 years of ownership. I've been a huge BOSS fan even before we purchased our own, and I can honestly say that I love this plow.
I'd love to hear what you guys are running for snow plows and if you went with BOSS or a different brand. Did you guys go with the stainless, poly, or the traditional red steel? Let me know in the comments below!

Buy a Western if you want better features. Had both boss and western. Better / easier mounting. Higher wings Back blade option Uses a chain ( bust a hose, short link it and your on ur way ) Stronger welds Better paint Doesn’t use springs on the wings that fold in super easy. List goes on. Will never use a boss again

I'm rocking the Western Enforcer Stainless Steel. It's made specifically for half ton trucks. I have a 2014 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. It's a dream. This is my first plowing season with my own equipment/business and I have about eight residential accounts and a couple commercial, so it does great for me! Plus, when Thumbtack leads come in, I am extremely busy! I will be upgrading this week to a legit back drag edge. Will totally help with the "cleaner" look when plowing residential.

I went with 8’ Western Poly on my 2500HD. The extra weight isn’t a huge deal and not having to every worry about rust or painting makes it worth it for me. I kept my last Western Poly plow for 15 years and it still looked new. That was a 7.5’ on a Chevy 1500. That plow was a little on the heavy side for that truck and I had to rebuild the front end after 120,000 miles. I suspect the 2500 will hold up better in that regard. If you keep a plow less than 10 years, powder coated steel is probably fine, but if you don’t keep it painted and waxed the snow will begin to stick. Sticking snow is seldom a problem with the poly unless it is really heavy and wet snow and even then sticking is seldom a problem.

Use to run Boss Poly V-XTs on my trucks, made the switch to a Western stainless 8'6" MVP3 on my new personal truck. Had a Western 8'6" steel MVP2 on my 07 Chevy 2500HD and it gave me zero downtime or costs, besides a new cutting edge every 3 seasons or so. Will say I like the use of the Boss controller better than Fisher/Western/Douglas Dynamic.

I bought a good used last year Fisher XV2 9.5ft stainless plow and It's going into its 9th season and it still looks nice. If I was going to buy a new V plow I would go with a painted steel plow because the stainless plows only have a stainless mold board so you still have to chase rust. Before the Fisher I had a new Meyer SV2 stainless V plow that I suffered with for 3 years. I never made it through a season without having to do major warranty work to it. When I got rid of it only the pump, headgear, and rear half of the truck mount were original. Everything else was warrantied for cracked welds.

Black pepper and garlic salt made at home. The color of a snowplow should NEVER factor into the purchase decision making process. SS looks good with any color. Lack of rust is a nice perk but I run all steel plows. They are plows and are used to make money. Wire wheel and paint make them all look decent. As long as they are reliable. Dealer support is the biggest reason to buy a specific brand of plow

First boneless buffalo wings are my favorite. As for snowplows I have an 8’ Fisher XBLADE (stainless). I’ve never owned a Boss plow but me personally based on judgement I’m not a huge fan. I like the chain lift that Fisher has for a few reasons. The blade follows contours on the ground, the plow can lift higher and you can short chain the plow if there’s a problem. I understand Boss does have trip edge plows but most are trip blade and I’m not a fan of that. And finally I’m not a fan of bosses mounting system. More stuff to break compared to Fishers mechanical mounting system in my opinion. Regardless everyone has their own opinion. And if Brian is happy with his plow I’m happy

Anything with butter garlic...I taste it all night long so I think I'm getting my monies worth lol. As far as plows go, we've owned every style and was a huge fan of v blades but now we do mainly commercial and the expandable blades hands down move more snow. In my humble opinion, a v blade saves about 30% over a straight blade and an expandable blade saves about 20% over a v blade comparably size blades of course. We put a 8611 XL on my 2019 F350 CC 6.7L and it can move some snow! I think you have to look at what types of properties you have, mostly large lots the expandable plows make more sense, if you have a good mix of driveways and smaller lots then maybe a v blade might work better and if you're just doing driveways then I'd buy a simple straight blade. I'd also say, I'd try to buy stainless steel whenever possible although our Fisher XLS is painted and still looks good considering the hundreds and hundreds of plowing hours on it.

In my experience Stainless is the heavy plow not Poly. Also for someone just getting into plowing I would suggest a straight blade. Inexperienced plowers have enough to focus on rather than one more aspect of angles on your plow. Also they are less expensive and less moving parts as well as lighter. I have used Meyers, Diamond, Western, Boss, Curtis and Fisher over the years. My overall preference is Fisher. I think they are rock solid for the money and the yellow is higher visibility and there is a huge used marked for wiring, mounts etc whenever you make a change.

Brian, I had that same problem with my EXT lights moving. It turns out that boss had a bad batch of frames. Looking closer I could see that both light frames were cracked at the mounts. I couldn't see how I could have done that and I hadn't. I called my dealer AJ Power in Burnsville MN (nod to them). They replaced them same day. I was still under warranty thankfully. Anyone having this problem should look closely at the light housing.

I’m hoping to get into residential plowing in a couple seasons. I have a 2015 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 5.0, I want to run a Sno-Way 26V up front and an Ebling Sidekick for the rear. I’m gathering all the information I can on residential plowing from you and Grenedek. Watching all of your plowing videos multiple times.

@@markschmaus5580 what model? I was thinking 26V so I can scoop, and overall get more angles and such.

@@americantrucknation4891 mine is either 26 or 26r. Its the one made for half ton trucks. Works great! Easy to put on and take off.

@@markschmaus5580 When I first started looking into V plows for a half ton I was hoping I could run a Boss HTX or a Fisher EZV but I’ve done their plow match tech, apparently none of them fit my truck, legally anyway. I found the Sno Way and haven’t heard anything bad about them. The only thing is I can’t get a stainless, It shouldn’t be that big of a deal; I’ll use it for probably 5 ish years and get an F350 6.7 after that.

Poly is not much heavier and way quieter also snow won’t stick to it as much. The smaller boss plow is a 8’2” just FYI.

Need help from you & your dedicated subscribers... Looking for a backpack blower (name & model) that allows the air discharge tube to be controlled by the left hand. Had a landscape accident (ladder fall); broke my right hand. Leaf cleanups still must be done. Any suggestions?

Gosh I’m not even sure if there is a left handed blower? A handheld Milwaukee battery one would be legit.

Wear it on the front of your body instead of on your back so the discharge is on your left?

@@BriansLawnMaintenance The only downside is having to remove your tailgate and hitch. They are meant for a lot bigger commercial lots from what I understand and I think that's why people people like stan use them
