Hey Esme, love the podcast! I don't know whether or not you can relate to this with any horse you've ridden, but I have a pony who is really chill and always looks after me. She is sensitive, forward, and smart and loves jumping. Lately though, even though it's summer here in Australia, she has constantly been quite fresh and fighty and I feel like we are going backwards. I've checked her food, tack and she gets exercised 5 times a week. I don't expect you to reply to this, but just trying to get some advice. Sorry for long message💖💖

That's a good description of hunters, actually!! Equitation is judged on the rider, hunter is judged on the horse. It's all about looking fancy. At least that's how it was when I grew up doing it in the 90s - early 2000s. Divisions usually had 4-5 classes. Hunter under saddle, equitation under saddle (both with no jumps), hunter over fences and equitation over fences (self-explanatory!) and sometimes there would be a medal class tossed in there. The two rider/horse combos who got the most points in their division got champion and reserve champion.
