Potential New Stormcast and Skaven units for Age of Sigmar 4th edition!

Today we are breaking down the new Age of Sigmar cinematic trailer for 4th edition and trying to work out what new units we might see in the AoS 4.0 launch box! Let me know what you think?
As well as getting to see the Hallowed Knights in action, which is awesome, the new trailer hints at new Ruination chamber elites and a Ruination chamber Lord on Gryph Charger, as well as new Rat Ogors, new Clanrats, Warplock Jezzails and more...
Age of Sigmar 4th edition is shaping up to be quite exciting from both a lore and rules perpective, as well as promising loads of new miniatures if we are to believe what we are being told on Warhammer Community.

I think if they're gonna make new rat swarms, they're gonna be included with the clan rats like the Ripper Swarms for Tyranids

I don’t play AoS but it was an awesome trailer, I like the new look stormcast. And that they’re updating the old models instead of just pumping out tons of new ones and bloating the roster (space marines…)

GW better be giving more new units as what's shown if f all in terms of Stormcast for a launch boxset. 1 leader on griffwn, 1 leader on foot, 3 elites, 3 new flying things, 10 liberators (who aren't part of the new chamber) they would have to double up the elites or flyers!!!!!

Yeah I think given the amount of units headed out the door, we are probably going to see a lot of new Stormcast, either direct Thunderstrike updates to some, or Ruination chamber equivalents to the ones going away

@hobbywaffle though I'm kind of afraid cause we don't have any new battleline units specific to the new chamber only a elite unit and 1 on a mount. That's not enough in my opinion to make a new launch box. I mean look at the 3rd edition launch set the 4th needs to have as much as that!!

In 3rd we got Yndrasta Knight Vexalor Lord Archanam (female wizard cant rember name correctly) Lord Imperitant 3 Anhilators 3 Praytors 5 Vindictors 5 Vindictors There needs to be at least this much!! I guess we will get 10 new Liberators but that's pretty por that we don't get new battling units!

@hobbywaffle also, for some reason, the Praetors are *online only, why would that be when they were dominion units??

I think it would have/would be interesting to see Sigmar attempt to take this new soul from Nagash and unlike normal Nagash says ‘No Thief’ and the soul makes its way to Shyish. Pretty much spelling out that Nagash has discovered magic that stops Sigmar from taking new souls for the StormCast.

It's funny hearing people refer to the current clan rats, only released in 2009, as "fairly old." That's literally the year before the 40k 5th edition Dark Eldar refresh began. Unless they're ditching the limited launch box this time around, I sure hope they've got a few surprises for the box, i.e. things that weren't in the trailer like we had in the 40k 9th and AoS 4th. It's especially light on the hero models for starters. Going from the 39 model count Kruleboys army in Dominion to a 28-34 (depending on number of rat swarms and rat ogors) count, would be kind of underwhelming. Surely the Skaven would be more of a swarm/horde than the Kruleboys. I'd hope we see some kind of Warlock Engineer/Grey Seer or Packhunter/Master Moulder... but even with both of those, it would still be smaller.

Yeah I hope they do have some surprises for the Skaven, and maybe there’ll be some sort of standard bearer for both we haven’t seen too.

@@hobbywaffle There should be plenty of stuff for the Skaven after the new starter set/launch box. I'm just hoping there's more in the box. I have actually see a list around which seems to have a few things lining up with what was in the trailer at least. Could be legit, in which case it'll be a bit of a mixed reaction.

I think they are a certainty. The way they worded the Warhammer community article saying they ‘provided the developers with the designs for the new Liberators, which they’ve faithfully recreated for the video game’ - that to me implies they had already designed them for the tabletop.

I love to have better rat swarms, I love the idea of rats just running under skaven and on skaven.

biggest criticism of the old clanrats: -almost monopose with only one arm that can be changed new models: -monopose OK...

You've called that fairly sensibly I think it'll compare similarly to Leviathan for 40k. For SEC I think you're right in terms of troops but I can also imagine an extra foot character or two. I think you've called the Skaven well too but again I can picture an extra foot character or two like a Warlock engineer

The most important thing that worries me right now - is the disgusting rumors about "BoC genocide" true? How can GW technically do this? Like, “Sorry guys, but the Old World is thirsty for blood and miniatures, so all the Beastmen in the infinite universe of the Mortal Realms suddenly died of a heart attack"? In fact, in the entire history of Warhammer, beastmen did not rise above the “lubricant of the heroic sword” role. Only in Warhammer Age of Sigmar did they have interesting lore for the first time!

I don’t think they will drop them, they will be in both AoS and Old World, as it’s two separate avenues for sales and they fit well in Age of Sigmar. Plus you are right, how would they write that into to the lore, it would be awful for the story if they suddenly vanished.

Skaven are getting new minis? They haven’t shown off rat swarms yet but I think they will be coming

SCE yes. But Skaven is an L take. 80% of their Range is 30 years old. They will remove most of them from the AoS range and keep them for Old World and replace and update the majority in this update.

I remember reading/hearing somewhere that this set will contain mostly of updated sculpts instead of new units. The skaven contents seems really plausible and that just gives them 2 new units. The stormcast side looks to contain some new stuff but also mostly updated things. Maybe the stormcast line is getting cut down a lot in terms of leader characters.

@@OlrikMeister Definitely plausible, and there’s annihilators spotted in the trailer too that could be used as box filler units.
