I built a small dividing wall in my shed and am doing more on my Brooklands model in Meccano.

The weather looks so beautiful. Very similar to Pennsylvania. You have so many irons in the fire that anything you get done is fantastic!!....Great idea for a whiskey and cigar lounge. If I lived close I would come over and help work on the car and have a couple cigars and a couple snorts of good stuff.....(I hear the old timers always saying that and I believe they are talking about shots)....lol

It's nice in the sun but now when the sun goes down it gets cold fast. And by cold I mean NZ cold so not freezing. And funnily enough I did just buy a bottle of shed Whiskey, it's sitting in the little metal safe box under my Meccano desk. I don't actually have anyone around who can come and just hang out. My mentor used to have shed Whisky. He also smoked small cigars. And other things! Could never do that myself, always makes me feel sick.

@@asciimation That would be great to get together and have couple shots and enjoy a fine Cohiba or something. I am not a big drinker or cigar smoker but every once in a while.....

Great to see the Meccano. Built that gantry crane and pretty much all the models in their mag as a child. My late uncle won an international competition held in South Africa, with a fourteen foot model of the Eiffel Tower complete with lifts. Awaiting the Riley body build with anticipation. Best from the UK.

I am finding the Meccano amazingly good fun. I spent all day on it today. It's very relaxing but still stimulating. Pain nearly gone now so body work soon. I'll do some welding practice first and also try to film some of that since I know people find that interesting.

Can't believe some of the stuff people throw away. At least they put it out for collection and didn't just burn it. Love the setup.

It was kind of a garage sale so not quite thrown out. But it was there at the one they did last year so no one else wanted it apparently! I remember looking at it last year.

@@asciimation Ahh. But I stand by my statement. I'm sure you've seen it happen. At least they were trying to sell it. So much character to be enjoyed.

I like your Mechanno desk and nook. I have a drop leaf desk with a bookcase on top with glass doors. It passed down to me from my Welch great-great grandfather. Still has his books in it, some as old as 1870.

I like your little hobby lounge. I'm pretty excited about the Meccano Riley. I suppose that's the next thing you're going to drag me into. Ha! Cheers P.S. I need that quarter back...

The Meccano is great fun. I basically spent all day today messing with it. Running out of parts already though. It's a great 'keep busy while recovering from injury' thing. I might need the quarter. Find out next week how many people are being made redundant where I work.

It's nearly good now. It's an odd thing, the more pinched the nerve is the worse and the further down your arm the pain is. It's nearly gone now.

Re: MDF I use a laser cutter and find the glues are harder to cut than the wood is. So when cutting MDF is Harder than Ply. But with Ply it's not consistent all the way through so sometime the layers of glue will slow the beam down. really notice it with a low power LED Laser cutter.
@asciimation14 күн бұрын
My little laser cutter is too weak to do anything more than foam or gasket paper which is mainly what I use it for. Cutting masking tape stencils is useful too. I have used bigger lasers in the past but even then only on 3mm or so MDF.

@@asciimation yea. I have had my 5w laser for a number of years now. I find I prefer to cut eucalyptus 3 play with it. I like to work with 2.3 - 2.5 mm. It seems to be stronger and doesn't de-laminate like Bunnings pine ply does after a while. And it's much more attractive. Apparently there is a 20w LED laser module out now but it's very expensive. Might still be cheaper than the CO2 though, but still not as powerful.

The thumbnail for this video looks a bit like the top view of Star Treks Voyager. :)
@asciimation14 күн бұрын
Not quite sure I see that! Never really got into Voyager. Saw bits and pieces of it when it was on but never gone back to it. I did re-watch all of TNG at one point. The first season or two are a struggle!

@@asciimation yea most shows take a couple of seasons to find their footing. The mental image I see in your thumb nail is a lateral slice of the ship and drawn in plan detail. The front wheels I didn't immediately see. The real wheres are the nacelles and the body is the hull.
