As someone who's been to numerous sex parties, I can tell you that good ones are mostly chill, with a good deal of mingling, limits being clearly defined, safety required, clean bill of health from an STI clinic required, and enthusiastic consent required at all times by all parties involved in sex. Sometimes it's private sex, sometimes it's performative sex, sometimes it's group sex, sometimes it's one-on-one, sometimes some folks just want to masturbate. Sometimes it's no sex at all and people just want to chat. They're never called sex parties. Sometimes they're called Wine & Board Games, or Movie Night at [Name]'s Place, or Sunday Munch, or something of that nature. tl;dr: Sex parties are just mature gatherings where people happen to have sex.
