Prince interviewed by Chris Rock. Filmed January 1997. Recorded by me, February 1997, Analogue satellite receiver, scart connected to Nicam hifi VHS VCR, recording at SP onto a new JVC SX E180, video tape archive number 1296. This show featured many promo clips, nothing at all rare, all have been edited out, not even a second of the interview is missing. All other versions I have found on KZfaq are partial, 480p with mono audio. This is 100% of the interview with Stereo sound and uploaded in HD

@@ScottishTeeVee As much as anyone can consider Prince a friend in a way they were. Prince showed up dressed as an old man comedically to honour Chris Rock with an award and he doesnt do those kind of things lightly. Chris saw Prince in concert many many times. Chris honoured Prince too. The one dude who never talked s&/+ about Prince and definitely had the capability to do so. Just like Dave Chappell but they havent. Thats real brotherly love 💜

I think there could’ve been something in the mid 2000s if Michael was in a stable situation all round, physically, mentally, financially, publicly, in like 02 he had this big plan to rehabilitate his image, or his team rather, he was going to put music aside and work on movies, he bought a small film company to work with, as a producer/actor, it was all set up and ready to go but then the second case happened and it destroyed what spirit was left in him, but also he went to a show in 06 and there was that rumour of Prince being petty and getting in his face lol, just think that if things were different, if there was no controversy, they could’ve made something happen, MJ excelled when he dialled his stuff down and made these slow, melodic ballads, with his own unique spin, even if the critics panned it, I imagine not many of us would have complained if we got Prince n MJ crooning and harmonising for 7 mins.

9:26 THESE WORDS always hurt to hear him say the elevator was Satan and to know that he was found dead in his elevator. That was crazy. Prince was the absolute greatest entertainer to embody an instrumentalist, song writer, dancer, stylist, revolutionary, musician, singer, producer, guitar player, businessman, all in one.
@moonpiespotlight4759
@moonpiespotlight4759 2 жыл бұрын
He says "de-elevator", not elevator. Satan takes you down, not up. Instead, consider this line "Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill".
@lukekylestanley4072
@lukekylestanley4072 2 жыл бұрын
@@moonpiespotlight4759 Hmmm.Nah.Who cares about "de" or "the elevator"??? Elevators go up and down, and he said "down." And he says quote: "Are we gonna let de-elevator bring us down?" Bring us down. He doesn't say take us up. And the elevator he has consistently stated in former interviews was never originally intended to be in the song. He replaced the word or name Devil with the word elevator only because radio in the 80's wouldn't let him say the word devil. These are his words. So....nah, I'm on point, and my interpretation or not even an interpretation, it's me using his exact words to show the connection that is. I ain't saying he went to hell. He clearly according to himself believed in God, so don't assume that's what I am in any way implying. The cryptic part is not if the elevator was going up or down it is in the change of words of devil to elevator and the FACT he died in an elevator of all places for one to die who wrote a song loosely about the afterlife where he had to change the word Devil to a word he chose "elevator." If the lyrics were never changed they were originally intended to say: "Don't let the devil bring us down." Ironically, as I showed the connection he was forced to change the word, and he chose to use "elevator bring us down." Thus the connection of him dying in an elevator going down, in a song talking loosely about the afterlife. You stay with daffodils. Either way I'm correct and the song was eerily prophetic
@biggalaxy9102
@biggalaxy9102 2 жыл бұрын
@@lukekylestanley4072 The fact that he died in an elevator was bc it was a murder & not bc of addiction. Prince was a health nut & wouldn't put just anything into his body. What people don't know is, Prince was about to get all the rights to his music but killing him off would stop this from happening. He was worth Billions. The elevator now makes sense to me bc it's symbolization. More irony, "Symbol." These people will pay for what they did in this life time & the next.

Sex gave him a great platform, and with all the hard work, it made him a very big star... Nobody wore black silk stockings or high heels around that time, at least no men! (Earlier on you had the New York Dolls, Rozz Williams, The Cramps, Marc Bolan, or Bowie wearing high heels, pumps, make up, and what not, but not the way Prince did) So if mom&dad's porn collection had something to do with that, I bet he wouldn't feel sorry. I even heard that Prince said in a radio interview that he would have loved to have done some material with mj but I believe that mj wouldn't have checked his EGO at the door and had ill intent like he did with the bad collaboration by trying to say that he was BETTER and making him the butt of a joke like he did with Wesley snipes in the video.

In the 90's again to many to name but question of U,space,5women,endorphine machine I'd rather see then radio hits. Last time I seen him was musicology tour and that was lit. If artists today had even half of this man's work ethic, we'd have much better music. The talent is there, but that's not everything.

This should be the only interview out there with prince. An artist just talking with out a sycophantic audience or interviewer. Good one Chris rock.

Prince was very cool and a great talent. Loved his funky music. The super bowl show he did in the pouring rain was one of the best examples of how cool this guy was. He died way too young.

The part of this interview where he talks about learning about the birds and the bees, & that there was a plan to initiate him as he says "hot and heavy"....the way he talks about it, it is very cryptic. If one just really listens to his explanation... Makes you wonder.

@@vanitysmirror yes and he would watch his father perform for strippers at a really young age so there’s that too it seemed to warped his mind a great deal in his early life and career being overtly sexual he said also in his memoir that his mom was responsible for his wild 😛 side and that she was a very free spirited woman who didn’t like to be controlled

You do the same as I, pick up a tape, think about using something on it, then search YT, if its already up in decent quality, I don't bother and choose something else. I did enjoy that Warren Zevon interview you uploaded recently, interesting, funny and sad all at the same time.
