@hybrid32494 appreciate this video and content, very helpful. Quick question: I followed your instructions while my hybrid was fully on and it says Battery was 13.8 volts. With just the lights on, it says Battery was 11.8. .For some reason MY car is loosing Battery power, since yesterday. It also appears it's not charging very well while driving in light traffic. This just started yesterday. Do you have any thoughts. I took it to Autozone, and they say it's a bad Battery. Could it be the alternator.

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="126">2:06</a> I don’t know about your Prius but I have a 2005 Prius and if you do the same sequence to get into the menu, you can get out of it. You can do it while driving too, though I don’t recommend it. I have done it in a parking lot. Turned it on and off.

Thank you so much for this video! Took the Prius to jiffy lube and 400 bucks later i drive maybe 10 miles and the red triangle came up... then engine and coolant issue popped on w some idealing. I bought a cheap sensor with the ambition to get a game plan before im ugly w the mechanic as its an 07. Ive yet to change the transmission and the fluid was atrocious so my bf. How doa you go through the check off of the diagnostics and should i come back after reset is that a flawed full of error codes. I drive it 1x monthly on average , my bf claims i need to drive it 2x monthly to keep it in order. Any insight on how to tell the appropriate adjustments to prevent jasseming its death? Im from detroit with a decent amount to exposure n practice e Compàssion but This was next level.

Veru helpful. I am getting a message that there is a transmission p mechanism issue and to park my car on flat ground with the ebrake on. It only happens when the car is not "on" or "running" but i follwed your steps and my battery voltage is normal. 🤷🏽‍♀️

hey!! thanks for watching. You should try to disconnct the 12V aux battery in the trunk for about 30 second to reboot the system. Hopefully your error codes will go away. I;ve had to do this myself when i had some malfuctions. There is a pretty thick white cable terminal that attahced to the top side of the 12V battery in the trunk. Remove it for arund 25 seconds, and put it back. Check some vids o youtube here for more info before you try this.

I'm having the same error message, only it's so bad that the engine won't start. I think moisture got in one of the systems. Did you resolve this issue?

@@sweetabyssmusic yea I guess it was just draining the battery slowly. Once i turned the light off I never saw that message again and its been a couple months.

this was a great video. I have a 2012 prius and I'm having an ABS issue with my brakes. Do you know How I can troubleshoot the problem? I went to autozone and their scanner didn't pick up my abs issue. I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer - Thanks

hey man! thanks for watching. Let me give you an update on this car, a few months after this video I would up loosing front brakes completely, it turned out to be a cracked/broken ABS brake pump accumulator. Luckily at the time there was a Toyota Waranty enhancement and this car was still covered up to 150K at the time. Toyota replaced my Brake pump for free, normal cost would have been around 3K. Find out if your car has any warranty enhancements for brake issues. You should call Toyota of America's main number (google it) and read them your VIN, see what they say.

@@hybrid32494 I thought I dodged a bullet when I changed out the rear brake pads and added some brake fluid to proper level and reset the dashboard alarms but they came back on. Now the abs and brake lights are on and the pedal is hard. but, randomly the lights will go out and the brake pedal will be normal again. It will be fine for 10 minutes or so and then the lights will come back on and the pedal is hard again. I don't know what the root problem is. could it be a sensor at one of the wheels ? I'll try calling Toyota but my vehicle has 175K miles

hey buddy! I highly recommend you pick up an OBD-2 code scanner on amazon. For check engine lights you're really diagnosing a computer related item and need to read/erase codes.

If you hold down the display button for 5 seconds it will close out the diagnostic menu without having to restart the car. Just found this out on my own while playing around with it.

Hey bro in this ur vedio when u push the break and i heard a sound from abs pump so mine car has same when pudh the break and has sound and the break is fine never had any issue so what u think is it big problem or no. and not has any light on on the dash.

I spent 1500 replacing the brake actuator pump only to have it start making that noise again! Luckily Toyota reimbersed me but I have since discovered that the brakes are fine but will periodically make this noise for sometimes days and sometimes weeks.

hey man!! that is an issue I have never heard of before. Do you know if your prius has had any steering wheel air bag deployments? It's possible the wiring was messed up in the steering wheel.

I thought you were supposed to put the parking brake on, put it in ACC mode (without pressing the brakes) while pressing INFO button and turning on lights 4 times. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What about using a volt meter? How do I use one of those? I can buy one on Amazon?

To be clear, you are talking about the general battery and not the hybrid battery? Or… My display shows 13.8- 13.9 from start to driving. I just bought a new “general” battery last year, but I’m running on the original hybrid battery on my 2007 Prius 107,600 miles. My friend told me all the videos I’m watching are probably about the 200$ battery I bought last year, and not the hybrid. I had received the red triangle of death with break light, vsc, and engine light after making a quick turn. Now, it’s only the red triangle of death with check engine (time for that), and tire pressure. The tire pressure and air conditioner have been problems for 6-7 years. Sometimes the a/c works, others not. Same with the tire light; the dealer and a private mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong with either multiple visits.

hello, yes, I was referring to the 12V battery for the most part here. Anyways, I've had those same exact lights on previously and it turned out to be a bad brake pressure accumulator. Luckily at this time there was still a 150K, or 10Year Warranty enhancement from Toyota. I eventually lost brakes completely and they replaced the brake pump. The legs you're mentioning are exactly what I had, it wasn't the hybrid battery. In fact the failure rate of the hybrid packs is extremely low, mine has never failed and I've owned a couple of these same model year cars so far.

hey man, what exactly is your barking issue! Do they just fully not work? The prius is known to have full brake pressure failure as a result of the Brake Pressure accumulator pump being faulty. Mine had this happen.

thats is fine, you're normal on the voltage. I've seen these cars go down to 13.8 and still drive the same with no issues.

No need to switch the car off to exit the test. Just hold the Display button for several seconds.

hey buddy! You could drive with the diagnostic screen on, it won't turn off until you turn the car off. You will notice the HYB RIC battery voltage slightly fluctuate and thats normal. Generally if the car can go up a small hill from a STOP on the battery power alone, then the hybrid pack is adequate.

hello, unfortunately I am not familiar with that rare model. There should be menu option inside which will let you switch languages I would assume. Although I know that JDM cars can be a problem in this area and usually do not have options for other languages programmed.

Hey buddy, if you are referring to the check engine light codes, then you will need an OBD two scanner, pretty much any scanner from Amazon for around 20 bucks. Will tell you what your trouble coats are.

Will this method work to trigger codes if someone has cleared them? The people who towed my vehicle cleared the error codes so now my mechanic is at a loss as to how to diagnose the problem

hey buddy! unfortunately this will not help you, this cannot access the OBD-2 system. Sorry for that my dude. Once they are cleared basic scanners will not tell you any previous information..

Dash lights will not come back on. I did disconnect the battery. It is not working doing that anymore.

hey buddy! Yo have a combination meter failure, this is a common issue in many 10+ year old prius cars. Anyway, disconnect the white wire coming from the 12V battery for around 10-15 seconds, and try it again. Usually this will reset the faulty capacitors in the DASH cluster and will temporarily help.

hey buddy! The red triangle could mean numerous faults. Even if you drive with the door open the red triangle will be on. I highly recommend you first test the voltage on you 12V battery, it's in the trunk on the right side. IF that battery is dead, the car will not start and it will display the red triangle too. Let me know! lets solve this!.

Above 12v with car off, 14v with engine running....anything below 12v replace batt.

These cars don't gave a acomprehensive diagnostic mode, only a very limited, basic check screen, totally useless IMO.

hello, you're right. At best that is what I described it as, it's still useful for the basic hybrid and battery voltage you can get with it.

YES, you need a totally separate OBD-2 scan tool. I;ve done videos on those previously too, A basic 20 dollar one does just fine. This video only was meant to detail how to check the hybrid battery voltage.

@@hybrid32494 it is handy to know how to get into that screen, the problem is they come up with lots of different codes like 3190 3191 and a range of other things and it's these codes that people need to know how to interpret. You should add a link to your previous regarding the scanner.

hybrid32494 this mode is very useful in the winter as it will disable the traction control. You may already know but these things won’t move an inch if it’s icy or there’s snow on the ground.

hey buddy! Why would I make this up? you can look at comments on this video, plenty of people say this process works. You're doing something wrong. Keep trying and listen to the instructions in the video.. Good luck!..
