This one is live recorded according to Dimash himself as well as the two crews flight from Japan who did the camera works. And not only it’s live recorded but also only took one take. During the TV airing they interviewed the crew who said it was surreal experience when Dimash started singing in Japanese. His pronunciation is spot on 99% of the time considering it was his first time singing in a language he doesn’t even speak.

This is Japanese not English. Vowels are pronounced very differently. Mouth shape is different when producing Japanese. As one Japanese reactor (a professional singer) stated, Dimash's pronunciation is perfect. Japanese have what he called a lazy tongue so nothing is "hard". Nothing should sound "clicky" against the teeth. All soft sounds mostly in the back almost slurred. So your reference points to mouth shapes are going to be off a bit. Also, for those of us who have watched Dimash sing soprano in live concerts and appearances, how he shapes his mouth when he goes high does not look at all how you do it. But you can see how his soprano teacher shapes her mouth and it's very much how Dimash does his high notes in classical style. (He sang a duet with her at the Bastau concert.) A very good fancam where you can view closeup of Dimash singing Olimpico live in concert is on Dimash 48 youtube channel. You can catch every single lip and mouth change to each note in Italian which has Western language Vowels and consonants which should be more familiar to you.

This is totally live and in one shot by two Japanese cameramen sent by the organizers of the Tokyo Jazz Festival, since due to pandemic issues they could not do the festival live, so the presentations had to be as if they were live in the festival. Remember that Dimash uses countless techniques, supports and resources that when singing and making transitions and changes of genres, example of pop / opera and vice versa, the collation of the mouth is different, that's why he is considered the best at this time.The Japanese have said that if they had not seen who sang this wonderful song, they would have thought he was a native, perfect pronunciation. This interpretation has been considered by the Japanese author of the song as the most beautiful interpretation made by a foreigner. I think that little by little you will discover Dimash more, because he makes the difficult easy, the ordinary extraordinary. On the other hand the mic he was using is a super sensitive 10k mic, that's why Dimash moved back and forth, he's a master at using the mic. Greetings from Panama.

This is a very strange story indeed about the cameramen that dears like telling, that so far was collaborated nowhere and nobody can supply me the link to any such info. Why would Japanese cameramen be needed? And during a pandemic too. Any professional local cameraman can do the job. This specific performance was presented as a music video by the presenters at the festival. It was probably shot in more than one take to create a beautiful video. Why does it make a difference? We know Dimash can sing it live just as beautifully.

Dear, this information was given on a website where Dimash was talked about, I don't remember which one! Of so many that talk about Dimash. Any questions, you can contact the organization of the Festival. I don't care if they were Japanese, Chinese, Kazakh cameramen, the important thing is that Dimash can do it in one take and that has been shown thousands of times in his concerts. Greetings. @@DiaLinwen

@@rodrigorra3153 He no doubt can do it in one take, and therefore I think this preoccupation with whether this is live or not, both by the reactor and the dears, is pointless. It doesn't matter at all. At the Festival it was presented as an MV, not a live performance, and it obviously has some postproduction of adjusting the volume in the quiet breathy parts to the louder full voice parts. But why it matters I will never understand. I have been to 5 solo concerts myself, he is out of this world.

Those who say he didn’t sing live, I suggest you all go back to his channel and watch this original video of this performance (from his channel) on a very big TV screen as I just did,. Not a computer screen but on a giant TV screen. Look at the closeup of his barely open mouth at exactly 3:28- 3:30 mark (the timemark I am talking about is in the original video, not the timestamp on this reaction video) and you will see that his TONGUE (I am not saying his mouth or jaw. I am saying his TONGUE is vibrating in his barely open mouth at that moment) is literally vibrating which you would totally miss if you watched it on a computer screen. If he was lip syncing, that would not have happened. The tongue vibration at 3:30 is when he sings the very soft “-ide” part of the word…. And even though you can barely see it because it is a soft moment of the song and his mouth is barely open but the tongue is clearly vibrating to give a soft vibrato . He is definitely singing live. But whether this track belongs to this one take or maybe it belongs to another take can be arguable, but he is literally singing. Now, does he sometimes lip sync? Yes, when the situation calls for it. (Like when he sang at that Russian talk show, that was not live). But most of the time , he sings live.
@kenhamaker

I can buy into that, 98 percent of the time he is definitely singing live and he is so good people say he is lipsyncing to many songs its not true, plus singing in many languages will make you change certain mouth and tongue ways to sing like a native speaker

This was performed live, as is. The Tokyo Jazz festival sent two videocamera people to Dimash’s home studio to film this live, as the festival was ‘online’ due to Covid. At one point, the camera person had the camera so close we could see straight up Dimash’s nose, so both the Japanese festival side and DQ’s side decided an edit of the footage both camera-people took would be used for their on-line presentation after the fact. The camera people were Japanese and were both shocked when he started singing so perfectly in their native language. I’m not sure why this is what you decided to focus on, but there’s your answer. His performances in the Chinese SINGER competition in 2017 are 100% live. Unfortunately his English pronunciation at that time was a bit different, may be due to the fact that during those years, he does not know how to speak English and he only had limited hours to memorize the lyrics of the song he was to present the following week. By the way, the competition was done on a weekly basis but the contestants were required by the program to do other things other than practicing and preparing with his team for the next episode.

No live streaming, you can tell as he had to get in the power stance, his head shaking from the resonance and really I think it would be quite hard to emote so well when lipsyncing. Also notice how he is having to come in and back away from the microphone on high pitches. It was declared it was live streamed and I have no reason to think otherwise. You could hear his breath when he wanted you too. Dimash has versions of his songs as he changes up to dispell the lipsyncing accusations as well he will have his microphone back and forth and one show he took the microphone totally away from his face on a high note and still filled a huge auditorium with his voice. My opinion is Dimash has too much respect for his audience to fake it. I look closely when accusations of it are made, but I come away with enough proof for me not to buy into that, I really believe he deplores accusations of lipsyncing. That microphone is super sensitive and pics up almost everything.

You are forgetting he is singing in japanese- do you think they mouth sounds the same as us when their language sounds are broken down into sylables totaly different to english?

I really like you, but! I have 2 master's, a doctorate as well as 27 years as an A&R. There is an internet obsession with is it live or Memorex. This was shot with 3 cameras and was impossible to lip-sink because of the dynamics. Was there more than one take, probably? I seldom looked at an artist until I could feel the music, without that there is nothing. I say this in kindness and understanding of the good and bad of internet dialog. Cheers, Doc

Dear lady, as some other already reacted, in my view you were to much focused on prerecorded or live.. I believe when you get to know Dimash better, you will never doubt this again 😅 First because you will be convinced that hè really never needs prerecording (😂😂😂 hè is not neat or good…. Hé is the best vocalist alive!!! Also 2 masters in music 😉 sings in 14 languages, plays 9 instruments, gives sold out concerts worldwide and being known by the professionals in music as a virtuous and biggest talent in centuries 😌😄) second hè wants to sing live himself and third and fourth and so on 😅 I hope you keep reacting to him and maybe you will become A Dear too. Just went to his concert in Düsseldorf! All his songs live and soooo easy! I am blown away and still in AWE!!! Cant wait to Go to another concert of his!!

8:30 In classical style singing you often have the same mouth shape and still tho you can produce different vowels. When it comes to different instruments we also have to aknowledge that someone like Dimash with his ability and range often looks effortless and uses different mouth shapes than others will have to use to produce the same vowels, high notes etc. beside that it could be pre-recorded, like pretty much all other bigger studio recordings. It is 100% not lip sync just may be a different take they put on top of the video or dubbed afterwards after the sound went through the mice / studio mix.

Loved how you crushed his thin strained stretched male high notes. For high sopranos those high notes are natural easy and therefore quality is on a whole another level. He is so strained, so how to save his voice from ruin, he lip sings those high notes in concert, understandable. Between. Did you notice he uses an interesting way of faking vibrato with shaking his head, lol. around 6:23.

I understand that lip syncing is not allowed at the Tokyo Jazz Festival... even he himself had to clarify that it is live... it is recorded as many times as it is and the best version is used... some singers will put their mouths in one way to pronounce a vowel and others in another, Marcelito Pomoy barely opens his mouth very much...and Dimash does it as he wants...what happens is that we humans seek a quick answer to what we cannot understand , the most common that comes to mind..

It seemed like you were more interested in trying to find ways to say this was lip-sync instead of just enjoying it. I would expect much better from a “professional singer” I think next time just save everybody time and make a short video that says “I wish I sang like this and I’m jealous”

I think you may be right about the mouth shape, but bear in mind these notes are not high for Dimash. I don't think it's pre-recorded. I've seen him live doing this song - he is always relaxed when he sings. There are many techniques used by singers to access the notes they need, but Dimash knows all of them and can access a massive range of notes and timbres at will and with apparent ease. Plenty of live performances out there - go see! Thanks for your comments.
