I just wasted 45 minutes trying to follow the owner's manual in my 2014 GT only to find this video and link my car to the garage door in about 1 minute. You're a life saver! I wish I could give you 100 thumbs up!!

In my 2018 GT I merely backed out of the garage, held the opener up to the buttons on the visor, pushed them both until the little light blinked rapidly. Done. Opener is belt drive Craftsman, about 6 years old.

Sounds like a good option if your opener will allow it. My opener is about 16 years old so I had to do it the hard way. Does your opener use a rolling code? Thanks for the comment.

Video works but for some stupid reason mine only prefers the middle button. I have reset multiple times and it just does not like any other button other than middle lol

I did this same procedure on my 2013 Lincoln navigator and I must of done it over 45 times and after pressing the learn button I go back to my car and select the button I want to learn I hold it down until the garage moves and after it does you let go for a second and press the button again. I know this is the procedure for my car because I looked at the cars manual. I'm seeing other people programming it differently like holding the remote with on of the buttons in the car I don't know if it matter or not. Please help if you can thanks.

Is it not working for you the way it's supposed to? I'm not sure I understand your question. Make sure you have the CAR2U system and not the HOMELINK system in your car. If you can't get it to work correctly, I would contact your sales associate where you bought the car and see what they tell you. Sorry that's not much help, but let me know what you find out. Good luck!

These directions were awful. I had set one button and forgot how to set it another. So I watched this. It told me to hold the outer buttons until they flash. Guess what that does? Erases all the ones you already set! Thanks for helping me wipe the memory so I can't get in the house. Fantastic advice.

Pressed the red button on garage opener, then held down the middle button with home icon for a few seconds. Pressed the same button again and it opened the garage. The buttons on the side did not work like it did for the person in the vid. I have a 2018 mustang, home built ~2000.

Holding the two outside buttons deletes all presets and nothing else. Only thing i learned here was to read my manual before listening to some guy on youtube

If you have a newer Chamberlain opener you need a repeater sold separately for around $30 for it to work.

@@billyfowler9423 did you have to program the repeater? I just got it and I’m trying to program it but it seems like all you do is plug it in, straighten the antenna, then follow the steps that you normally would to program the garage door opener. Just didn’t work for me.

+Josh Herald it didnt work with mine either. I have a 2013 and what i did was I held the outer buttons, which just removes the other stored codes that might have been on there, for about 5 - 10 seconds until it blinked and then I went to the garage door opener and held down the program button ( i had a genie garage door opener) for maybe 2 -3 seconds and a light started flashing on the garage door opener itself and then I went to the car and held down the button on the old remote right next to the button in the car and the button i wanted to program and after a couple of seconds of holding it worked. I realized it was working when the garage didn't open when i pressed the button on the old remote.

Reading the directions in my car manual really threw me off, it isn't right at all. These directions aren't exactly right either for my 2013 Ford Mustang GT and Wayne Dalton garage opener. You don't need to hold down any buttons in the Mustang. Just press the program button on the "head unit" for the garage door opener then go into the car and press the button you want to use. That's it. Press the garage button in your car again and it will operate the door.
