@Leon Poel nobody discriminated against Russian speakers. Saying this as a Russian speaker myself. The biggest danger to the Russian language, is Russia itself. I have seen people that didn't even speak Ukrainian before, starting to learn the language and rather struggle in this language than to speak Russian again. Having your language not as a state language does not mean you're being discriminated against. Their current president is a Russian speaker. About the rockets pointing. Okay.. so when does Kaliningrad get demilitarised? When does Russia move it's rockets away from the border? Or is Russia allowed to do it and the rest isn't? Hypocrite.

What is democracy? If you do allow foreign interferences in your country then you have no sovereignty. Democracy cannot happen if you do not have sovereignty. Well, given how badly Germany screwed over Georgia and Ukraine in 2008 and disregarded Warsaw's frequent warning thereafter, that's not reassuring. Putting one's faith in Germany is ruinous. There's a core group of Nato and European states that are reliable allies: Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Czechia, Romania, UK, Finland, and US. Many others waffle or cower from the sidelines. Germany has been dragged kicking and screaming, only doing the right thing after each poor decision blows up in its face.

There's a BIG difference between joining the EU and joining the EU/US/NATO military system. And unfortunately many Georgians -- just like many Ukrainians -- don't realize that the above two are connected, that the former alone presents a (legitimately) desired induction of the country into the West, whereas the latter makes the country a desired proxy to Western interest in conflict with its big neighbor.

@@jas1049 Indeed there was no mention of NATO here. Nonetheless the question of NATO membership is the "elephant in the room" her, because except for Austria's maintaining strict neutrality, all of the other EU states have joined NATO or, in the case of Finland and Sweden, are soon to join. And no, NATO is no longer the defensive organization it began as and was during the Cold War. Since the end of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact it has embarked on war after offensive war. It is a threat to any nation that does not cater to American firstly but also European interests.
