Hey Peter.... What do you think about these JL XD amps compared to the Hybrid Audio Unity amplifiers? Are they around the same in performance/ Sound Quality? Looking at the XD 1000/1 v2 or the Unity U1A. Same power rating but here in the US the JL XD is $129 more than the Hybrid Amp. Wondering if the JL is worth the extra price or if even better at all? Now I see you have had the chance to hear them both. Thanks for your help!

Where is the stock amplifier? Where would you tap into to get bass signal on a base model mk8

Love your videos! Could you show how you got around the factory amplifier?
@pssound97492 жыл бұрын
Hi, This car was first built by another shop and the fed the speaker lines from the system to the DSP, so we just extended the cables and did the same, but we had no reason to trace the cables down where they originally came from. Probably behind the HU.

Great Work! Question, Dose the Mk8 GolfR have the same depth in the boot for that JL subwoofer enclosure? Thanks for any help.
@pssound97495 ай бұрын
This sub box was sold to the client by another shop and the boot floor needed a slight raise at the back to clear from the sub.

Phoenix connectors.....my my....what to do? I've recently used the smallest ferrule possible, crimped, then removed the plastic colored piece. I've then sourced some thin ( no glue) heat shrink and cover up the connection plus not allowing the ends at the connector to touch side to side. the problem is just lack of room, and that the connector close at an angle from back to front. Some times I think bare wire would be better since as you tighten, it will push a ferrule back out. Dean Beyett of 5Star here in the US wires tons of the AudioControl amps which have TONS of those connectors. As long as you have a strong angle coming out, bare wires will stay in. You can still heat shrink like usual to keep the look uniform. You could even every so light "tin" the tips of the wires to be crushed. This would assure them staying together as you inserted them in the corresponding square holes (yeah!) and the solder would mold under the pressure of the installer's screwdriver! I do appreciate the dedication once again to the customer's needs and wants and just not "shooing" him/her away but yet coming to an agreement. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO THEY MAY SEND YOU!

Hi Peter, quick question from where did you get the remote wire (from the speaker signal though the dsp I guess, not from the head unit) ? thanks in advance for your help
@pssound97492 жыл бұрын
It’s switched by the speaker level which is fed into the DSP.

I’m building a similar set up in my MK7.5 GTI. For a spare tire located sub, is it better to fire up or fire down into the spare tire well?
@pssound97492 жыл бұрын
If you were firing down, then you’d need min 2” below the sub and then you loose space. Also, down firing usually has less upper bass.

Do you use relays for multiple amps turn on?
@daahoo2 жыл бұрын
Another youtuber tested that. 8 car audio amplifiers used half the amperage of what a standard relay pulls just to engage it.

Do you think its possible to put the mid speaker in the small Window Right to the pillar?
@pssound97492 жыл бұрын
Anything is possible, but you’ll need to tint the window and mount the build somehow too.

How is this subwoofer? What amp is it running?
@pssound97492 жыл бұрын
Considering how record breaking shallow it is, it works very well, but the price can only be justified if you really a shallow installation.
