I use 5-20 full synthetic in mine, it's all original as Ford (and Dodge bros') made it, I want oil fast in that tray, oil down to those bearings fast, forget the 'upstage engineering', got my first Model A in 1948, driven 'em a lot of hard miles, modern oil is the secret, use it.

Thanks, Randall, I got a lot out of it too. Our coupe has the full flow filter on the valley cover. When I change the oil, I have a clear plastic hose on a small funnel. The hose line I.D. fits near perfectly into the return hole in the valley cover where the filter screws on. I hold out the last new quart from the oil pan, then add it to the galley, screw on the filter, and immediately start the car. Your comments about finding the galley partly full of oil when removing the cover tells me that the mains and their .0015 clearances don't let the valley drain to nothing very quickly. For me, the hot oil tests seem to tell the real story.

Hello Randall. Thank you for going to all the trouble of setting up an excellent demonstration to prove the efficiency of the Affordable oil filter kit. I currently do not have an oil filter on my 1930 Fordor but you may have just convinced me to add it. I also found that there's a lot of chatter back and forth about adding an oil pressure gauge. Some say it's just another thing to worry about and others feel that it's a must. What do you think? Thanks.

I have a question concerning tapping the oil gallery. By sending oil to the filter element, is there any risk of oil starvation to the pressure fed components? Is the crank mains the only pressure fed item? Thanks for the video and the work! I too want to filter my oil and I am trying to learn as much as possible.

What if you hade put oil in the filter before starting?

so no oil to the lifter area and bearings tell the filter is full and it only took only about 2 minutes ! mite be the reason oil was coming out of the cover was the motor had 50 to 80 years of crud from none detergent oil with a fresh built motor and modern oil that is changed that is not going to happen

If your trying to protect your engine use better quality filter fram is one stupid choice But fram filters keep my machine shop going when idiots ruin engines and use 30 wt oil not 15 /40 thinner is better for break in just think of damage to that engine using heavy oil and crap filter.
