I grew up with some of his folks and knew Don from a young age. Havent seen him in 35 years but for a short time he was as good as anyone in the sport.

@@PugilismCompany I think he would have matched up pretty well against both. Once he got rid of David Gorman as his manager his career went downhill quick.

Donald Curry was my favorite boxer for a brief period in mid-eighties. He was a silky smooth technician in the ring. And he seemed unbeatable. Most people don't remember him or don't know how good he was during that period. It was always a mystery as to why his career went bad so quickly.

Curry was never the same after his upset loss to Lloyd Honeyghan. That loss, together with management problems as well as drug problems, really hurt him as a fighter. Still, he remained good enough to get in the Hall of Fame. It's what he did as a welterweight that made him a great fighter. Not as good at the junior middleweight division.

Milton was a unification bout not his first title fight

Philly fight Doctor he meant to say your first unified title bout, in the next sentence he did correct it by saying he was the first since Sugar Ray. Jesse is doing a great transitioning from football commentating to understanding the terminology of boxing. Good pick up and we appreciate you listening. Stay tune more content to come.

Super class act !!! I 1st saw him fight when he came over to my country of England to defat our very tough and Rugged Colin Jones. Jones was world class going twice the distance with Milton McCrory and getting a Draw in there 1st encounter. Curry made easy work of Jones. It was unreal. Loved him ever since.

Yep, Jones was a tough night for anyone - he knocked out Kirkland Laing with explosive left hooks, twice. But Curry cut him to pieces, a great win...

You need to correct some of your facts. That wasn’t his first champion fight. He was already WBA champion. That fight was for The Undisputed Welter weight championship.

They didn't mess up too bad. Milt was the first standing champion he beat. He got the other 2 belts fighting for Vacant titles. Did make him.the undisputed though.

Dude not training for Honeyghan and having all team conflict going on and money issues too has a lot of parallels with Tyson vs Douglas. It's like them two almost beat themselves in them bouts.
