Great work Jerry! I have seen many straightening jobs in real life over the 24 years I did subcontracting work with about 20 body shops. Always nice seeing it done right. I am not sure I would have the patients to do that as a living! Obviously a skill to it.

Thanks for the video, it inspired me to buy a dozer rack for the side sway I have. You make it look easier than it is. I spent about 20 hours but finally got it straight. Most issues around pinch weld clamps slipping

Hi, will hitting with hammer harm the ECU of the car ? Because it happened on Kia grand carnival 3.8lit so I had to change ECU kit which includes key, key reader, immobilizer and ECU. Here in Australia it is called Grand carnival but there it is sedona . So my question: can that happen? Or there was another reason? Cheers

Are those "frame" rails high strength steel? For as much as you were hitting them with that sledge, I'd have expected them to deform.

I take it that you are heating the frame where it buckled? Do or did you have to heat up the drivers side at all?? Or you don't have to?

I wonder if using like a big Bosch electric jackhammer with a custom hammer bit would be effective in place of a sledgehammer? Shit, goanna give it a try!!!

Is it really hard to fix a hood like that?? I take it the metal would have stretched so would you have to shrink it down somehow?? I definitely could watch you everyday. Better yet I would work for you for free. Your a true craftsman

My car that I'm getting ready to paint, has tight gaps at the bottom between the door and fender, and wide gaps at the top. I've seen a few Neons with the same issue, and suspect it's because they were jacked up in the wrong spot. (The pinch weld is also folded over in a few spots). I saw this video and was wondering if a setup like yours could fix something like that. More than likely, I'm just going to cut the bottom of the fender and open the gap up, and add some welding rod to the edge to close it up at the top....But I'd be curious how something like that would be fixed. It seems if you pulled back and up (from the front of the car) you'd have to pull the support box down at the same time.

If your hook ups are strong enough, ya, don't heat it. High carbon steel doesn't like it.Loosen up the cradle bolts before pulling. There is some slack from the factory in the cradle. Remove the hood latch so you can see better how the hood lines up without running back to release the hood that can have a bent catch anyways.

How much does this service cost?

Heating knks in frame rails is not permitted nowadays as it is not longer "safe" to do so. My 30 y/o MR2 is ALL mild steel, so you can heat it and beat it, no problem, but OEMs, pressured to meet higher and higher fuel economy standards utilize stronger and lighter High Strength Steel (HSS) and Ultra HSS (UHSS) in order to lose weight and still maintain the strength of the chassis. These alloys of steel are cured and formed using heat, vacuum & pressure under very controlled conditions to reach their maximum strength. Bodyshops have software to look up every OEM car on the road which specifies which portions of the car are made from which type of steel alloy. When you work it, you notice iHSS & UHSS doesn't yield like mild steel, not as malleable or pliable, much more brittle in the way it fails - cracks, tears, sharp kinks. Heating it with a torch and pulling it straight takes a lot of the strength out of it. How much? I don't know; I'm neither a metallurgist nor an engineer. This is the main reason why modern cars that appear to have minor "fender bender" damage are written off as totalled. The proper fix when dealing with HSS or UHSS that is kinked is to use the damaged portion while pulling to get the adjacent panels as straight as possible and then cut out and replace the entire damaged member at a mfr approved location utilizing a mfr. approved method - like back at the firewall, if at all. Heating and straightening a modern chassis rail is no longer considered a proper repair. A kinked UHSS member should never be put back in service; OEMs vary on what can or can't be done with tweaked HSS. The concern is that member will never have the same strength as when it was first built. For the motoring public, this is progress - lighter, stronger, etc.., but for the shadetree and project car guys, the price of that progress is that it makes any damage beyond the front crash bar a bit of a deal breaker.

Unibody fame , On the Driver side . the cross member bar , that holds .the stabilizer bars,and torsion bar , crack the loose .But on the Driver side , it"s about 6 inchs .From the unibody wall . I went to Harbor Freight and bought the seven piece frame pulley . But i dont have anything , holding the frame .From the bottom. Do you think ! That i can still , pull the frame .Over 6 inch ! To put the frame peace , back on thr unibody .To be welded , back as a frame .that peace has , the 2 bolt holes pins .For the cross member , to be connected .To ! THANK YOU ! FOR YOUR HELP ! These high strength steel cars these days are springy you have to pull beyond center more than the low strength steel cars of the past and let it spring back to the zero alignment. The chief easy liner with two extra towers was my choice and the insurance companies would pay us repair labor for marks left by the clamps on the pinch welds clean up because the clamps leave marks on the pinch Welds.

I use my fat wife to straighten frames,tie one end to a tree,the other around wife's neck,if I want a strong pull I put hotdogs 10 ft from her,a slower pull I put hotdogs 5 ft from her.🤷🤷🤷

I think within the next two weeks will be to paint my car after my parents get done with garage sale. Am waiting on God to give me the ordain place he wants me to live at. Place recently called me yesterday about a house but not just looking for any house want to be living what God wants me to live. A reality company called me this week I did look at apartments and apply to one though but none called me back. Then this week got a call from the reality company. They were trying to get me more in the process of buying a house but I know will know when the ordain house from God will come because I prayed on it already. But once I get the house I wanna quit my job to work for God's kingdom and do what he wants me to do and that will show God I am really relying on him because I will have left the job am doing now. I know my dad won't like me doing it this way but he is realizing now even though am in 43 that he is letting me make my own decisions. Which I have to live my own life and do what God wants me to do not my family, relatives, friends and parents. In the end God and Jesus the ones that did everything in my life and I have to go through Jesus to get heaven one day. Plus am gonna have to account for what I did for Jesus and God one day and I don't wanna live the rest of my life and had did nothing for God's kingdom. I know I have to make smart choices in life though which in the past honestly did make the wrong choices. This guy I watched on KZfaq that I believe tells the truth named Tireo but he has a real relationship with Jesus and he can hear God voice for himself watching his videos have given me a new outlook in life on what I have to do for my life and think.
