There aren’t an over abundance of Lance truck camper dealers in the country. We live in far north Texas and a year ago we drove 11 hours to pick up our new 2021 Lance 1172 from a dealer in Huntsville, Alabama. The two dealers in Texas didn’t have what we were looking for so it was a road trip!

How funny that we had similar adventures! But it was well worth the drive!

The wheat and the tares. Yes it’s biblical Jesus describes the wheat as the saved, those who believe in Him and the tares those who deny Jesus, the lost.

Love this! Lance has awesome truck campers. We love how the dark color of the truck contrasts so well with the white camper and, of course, the mountains on the sides. Those are important! 😆 This is the exact setup we want to get in 3 years when we are fully retired. ❤

Thank you so much!! The mountains are the most important part 😂 And how exciting! We hope you have lots of adventures in your future rig!

We agree, campers are an investment. Luckily RV loans are treated like a mortgage, ranging from 10-15 years, which significantly brings down the monthly payment. And another money saving perk unique to truck campers is most states don't require them to be registered; you just stick the truck's plate on it.

We have owned 4 truck campers. When I took early retirement in 2004 we decided to trade for a small 28 foot 5th wheel. After three years we traded that for a 31 ft 5th wheel and then three years later traded that for a brand new 31 ft 5th wheel. Wife loved the added closet space and general comfort of a large trailer. I am comfortable with pulling it just about anywhere however there are limitations and issues sometimes. I find that it's easier to base camp and set up for a few days each place we go. Base camping in Buena Vista Colorado has worked well for us because we can be right in the middle of beautiful mountains and points of interest. Actually I would trade back to a truck camper if the wife would agree!! There are many advantages to a truck camper and your videos point that out. The Lance 825 is my first choice if I can talk her into it !! The cost of a truck camper is profane when considering what that money can buy in trailer !! There is no frame, wheels, brakes, axle, hitch, etc in a truck camper yet they cost what I paid for my new Grand Design 5th wheel !!!! It's going to be a difficult decision to get the wife to agree. We will continue to watch your travels.
@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit Жыл бұрын
Thanks! That’s quite a history! 5th wheels are wonderful - we do day dream of all that extra storage sometimes. It’s just based on how you camp, and that there’s a trade off with everything. We are so nomadic that a truck camper fit our lifestyle perfectly. Also, the price of truck campers have gone up significantly since we bought ours, so we totally understand wanting to get more bang for your buck. Enjoy your travels!

@@thewaywedidit I have a 2021 Ford F250 extended cab like yours. Mine has the 7.3 gas engine and is two wheel drive short bed. My cargo rating in the door of my truck is 3490 lbs which I think is sufficient for the 825 Lance. What is the cargo rating of yours and how does it handle the 825 on curvy roads
@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit Жыл бұрын
@@kbrowning3406 Our cargo rating on the sticker is 3279lbs. But before purchasing anything, we also talked with a Ford dealership about gross weight to make sure it would all work. Our truck and camper handles fine on curvy roads. The only times we feel it is when turning off of a curb there is a little wobble, or in heavy crosswinds, which is to be expected. PS - Dave is super jealous of your “Godzilla” engine!

This makes me want a truck camper! It looks awesome and seems more more convenient than a camper. I liked the bathroom comparison on your last video for the 650 vs the 825

We’ve had an 825 since 2016. I just traded it in today for a 2024 825. I’ll pick up the new one next week, then it’s onward to Montana and then over to the west coast. We love the new windows and the rear camera. Enjoy

Love your channel!! We are in Colorado Springs and are strongly considering changing from a travel trailer to an 825/850 truck camper. Your channel is helping us ALOT. One question, you have mentioned an inverter. I don't think either the 825 or 850 has the option for a factory installed inverter. Did you install an inverter yourself or have you found a work around? Can you share a little bit about that?

What we're your reasons from switching from trailer to camper and did you do any modifications on your truck suspension ? Happy travels
@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit Жыл бұрын
Thank you! A truck camper just fits our lifestyle better. We are very nomadic, so having something more maneuverable and easier to handle made traveling way easier! We also did not modify our truck’s suspension. Our F250’s payload is more than capable of handling the camper’s weight. We actually go into more detail about both of your questions in our first two videos if you want to check them out! Happy New Year!

Nice Video! Question - What is the overall length and with of your Truck with Camper from tip to tip? And what MPG you get when fully loaded?
@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Our length is around 21ft 10inches, width is around 8.5ft and we get around 10-11 mpgs.

With buying a new truck then camper, was financing on camper do to credit higher interest?
@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit 11 ай бұрын
RVs are unique in that they are financed similar to a home loan. The loan can be as long as 10-15 years, which helps bring down the monthly payment. And we believe the interest rates can start as low as 4% depending on credit score and the company you take your loan out with. It's important to to work with a bank that is familiar with RVs, and how to finance it. In the US, Bank of the West is a big player in RV loans. We hope this is helpful!

@thewaywedidit thank you. Forgot campers do financing like homes. Being 15 year plus loans. Because I don't have a truck.

Hey…just stumbled on your video and I am thinking about getting an 825. How do you like yours? Does it meet your expectations? Also did you purchase your tie-downs and brackets from the dealer or separately? Thanks in advance

@thewaywedidit
@thewaywedidit Жыл бұрын
@@mchace696 No, we made sure that our F250 would be able to handle the wet weight of the camper comfortably. We did upgrade the shocks to help dampen rough dirt roads, but everything else is stock.

The wet weight of our camper is around 2,400lbs, probably a bit more with our gear. We are very happy with our truck, handles the camper just fine. No dually needed for us.

This says it was uploaded 10 days ago, but everyone in all of the public places are wearing masks. Was this footage shot a long time ago, or are you somehow just going to all the places that still require masks? Also, when you were in Colorado, their is no snow on the ground, and you're all wearing shorts and what not, what gives?

The footage was shot during the summer of last year, but because it’s just the two of us it takes a while to edit everything. Sorry for the confusion!
