Among all Chinese teaware, Zi Sha became the dominant brewing vessel after the loose leaf tea evolution. In this video, I will explain why Chinese people name it after the colour Purple and how many types of clay there are in the purple clay family. I also listed three reasons that I can think of to explain why teapots show so many splendid colours.

Great video, very informative. I liked the poem. I never knew chinese nobles liked purple. I just thought they liked gold. European nobles also liked purple.

The pear duanni teapot... Might you know where I can find one like it? I have been searching, found several in the general shape, but not handmade, or without those wonderful twig elements... Any help would be so appreciated.

I watched another video of tea pots and there was one that looked like it was made from purple clay with the gold highlighted details and it was a dragon headed turtle. The person said it was not purple clay and they think it was made/carved from stone. Could stone be a better material to make tea pots out of to preserve the flavor of tea because it will not expand/contract like clay does? I also understand that purple clay tea pots can absorb the flavour of tea to improve the flavor so that is a good reason to use purple clay and it also doesn't expand/contract as much as other clays. It seems that stone would be a good or even better material to make tea pots with, however the purple clay looks beautiful but there are also stones that can mimic that color and can also have unique colors and visual chacteristics. The only reason I would ask if stone is better is because it is not as limited of a natural resource as purple sand/purple clay. I'm not really sure if it's stone or clay but in the comments a person says it's stone. This is the video of that tea pot: kzfaq.info6Rcj_htVT_g?si=Yx_tfKJmPRU_cTdR

First time commenting. I have a _zhū ní lóng dàn hú_ (朱泥龙蛋壶) for _Qīng Xiāng Dòng Dǐng_ Oolong Tea (清香冻顶乌龙茶), and two _zǐ ní piān gǔ hús_ (紫泥偏古壶) for _wǔ yí lǎo shuǐ xiān_ (武夷老水仙) and _jí pǐn ròu guì_ (极品肉桂), respectively. I'm planning on getting a _zǐ shā hú_ (紫砂壶) for either vintage _shēng pǔ ěr_ (生普洱) or vintage _shú pǔ ěr_ (熟普洱); could you tell me which color of _zǐ shā_ (紫砂) would be most suitable? Cheers from Japan.

Love your videos! Great info. Can you comment on the supply of zisha, in particular zhuni. Is there still a supply of it or is it rare now?
@EdwardQu
@EdwardQu 4 жыл бұрын
It is rare but I believe as teapot consumers, you can always find supply. Plus multiple mountains produce zhuni or the reddish clay. I hope this answer your question.

Does anyone know of an alternative for this clay, especially the texture before heating it
