They said "Bullet Heaven" that is literally the genre of "Vampire Survivors" and similar games. this wasn't a surprise.

I feel like the main reason people drop new gamemodes a while after they come out is because the league community always looks for the best way to win the game and once a clear top 10 or so champs have been established the games become extremely monotonous.

We actually already have an example of turning a survivor game into 3D models via DRG Survivors. It works very well.

They showed a new Malphite model in the Skarner theme video, surprised they didnt talk about it yet

Easy solution for the visual limits of the VS mode: Just make the event Arcade themed and replace all the enemy models with 2D sprites moving in the 3D space.

I really hope that the solo option for the game mode is that, if players like the mode, they would make it permanent. 🤞

It would make sense for them to be working on a Vampire Survivors, since that's what's been most played on the DotA arcade for ages now, and last time a custom DotA game got a disproportionate amount of attention it became a permanent feature to clog up the league client, though this time it hasn't taken 80% of the userbase hostage for long enough to make valve think it's a good idea to release it as a standalone failure xD

Vampire survivors game genre is bullet heaven and with them saying it is bullet heaven it basically means vampire survivors in league

"What do you mean this is your first bullet heaven game? do you not remember those velkoz in those game modes" The thing is, Bullet Hell classifies to the gameplay like those Vel'Koz, Touhou being like, the most primordial example to a Bullet Hell Bullet HEAVEN, however, is a contrast of the opposite, where the mobs don't zone you in tons and tons of bullets, but you're the one to bring the bullets and so the contrast is that you can toss everything you can at them while they can only just walk you down and swarm you in numbers, than in projectiles With one of the more popular examples being Vampire Survivors as you yourself mentioned, which is the one who brought the genre up and sprung some inspiration to other games such as Holocure (which is in steam go try it, it's completely free I'm totally not biased here) so, technically, yeah it's their first bullet Heaven

the problem with rotating game modes is that you get nothing in return. once the fun points are over theres no reward or insentive to continue , even the "eternals and archivements" are usually disabled for some reason. if riot wants people to play more just give people something. the 2nd we got nothing while the 1st we got the emote rank

Actually, you can see that the 3d sprite horde of enemies are fine in Deep Rock Survivor game, which is a game from the same genre.

I would love to see different team sizes in arena. You could maybe even queue into multiple at a time and just get matched into whatever the game found for you first (to lower queue times) you could probably go up to 4 teams of 4 or down to 8 teams of 1. I think that would be alot of fun.

16:01 I'd assume they drop support of DirectX 9 just for that exact reason, so it will be easier for them to optimise and have better performance in this new pve mode.

FWIW Deeprock Galactic Survivors also isn't 2D. I'd say their polygon/asset fidelity is about that of what league uses and has pretty great performance from my perspective. You can kinda test the impact of this in practice tool by fast-forwarding and stacking minion waves on target dummies

with the minimap being like that i'd assume heavy inspiration from warcraft 3 custom games which would not mean vampire survivors but rather kill a wave then buy some upgrades and repeat with occasional pvp.

I wouldn't be affraid LoL being 3D survivors like game, because exists a game called "Deep Rock Galactic : Survivor", which is an already existing 3D survivors like game, and it works quite fine

Bullet Hell is what SG event was. thats where you dodge enemies bullets. Bullet Heavens are where you ARE the bullets, and you mow down hoards of enemies IE vampire survivors.

Another problem with the concept of Vampire Survivors for League is... you don't move with WASD in League. You use the mouse. Meanwhile in VS and similar games you DO use WASD or the arrow keys to move around, because it's simply way more functional that way. You can aim with your mouse while being able to move freely in all directions. It's... kind of required for such a game.

I'm still cautious about what the mode is gonna be like, but I would be lying if I am not excited, bit by bit of what I love about league is coming back slowly.

I've played my share of Saviors-like games that are 3D and they have all played smoothly. If Rito can patch their bugs and spaghetti code(probably not) it can be a good game.

For someone who does a lot of research and reading you seem to have missed the reason why vampire survivors come up when you look up Bullet Heaven. As most comments have pointed out it's like looking up what a Metroidvania is and being excited it could mean similar to Castelvania/Metroid.

I'm excited for Split 2! I have yet to pull a Sona skin (she's my main for support), and I've been trying to pull once.

I’ve seen trailers for other 3D bullet heaven games so should be doable Worst case scenario they just make everything tankier including the player so they don’t have to have too much on the screen without lowering or increasing the difficulty too drastically My main 2 questions is how will melee champions work and will items be full random or will they go with anvils and we have to buy components and combine them into full items

10:58 This scares me. Riot could've planned this better and waited until the end of the year. The release of the PvE game mode will affect the numbers of players playing Arena. This would mean it's less likely to see Arena as a permanent mode.

wtb all pick all mid, with different maps, different and varying objectives and puzzles/challenges/boss spawn events that are random for every game. I want innovation and unexpected surprises. People want something new, something unexpected, something new, something to be excited about working towards is also fun and engaging. Replayability is key.

Love the fact that all arena mode is - basically a bridge between TFT and aram modes takin the best parts of both and throwing them together...speaking of aram are we ever gonna get that ranked aram thing they talked about a while back? any news on that? I do have to say, I thought that Brightmoon would have gone away already. I mean, it made sense to have him back when Meddler was out for his wedding, but he had already said he'd be out since last year...

Hearing Necrit acknowledge that bad matchmaking causes people to quit was music to my ears, because in Season 10, I quit because the matchmaking hit its worst for me. 10% winrate across all game modes, Ranked, Normals, even ARAM, caused me to leave the game for one year. I know people adored Season 10, but I had a miserable experience for most of it.

I guess I'm the only person in the world that rolls their eyes at "random items". It makes strategy the equivalent of just rolling dice and seeing who rolled better.

One of the reasons why i think you see a big spike and then a drop in playerbase for arena is exactly because poeple know it is not permanent. (this is the case with me) I would want to play as much of it as possible because i know it will be gone after a while but after playing so much i het burned out from it and want to take a break.

Necrit, i'm sorry for being that guy but "Bullet Heaven" is a twist on the "Bullet Hell" genre, the velkozes (?) from the Star Guardian event were a Bullet Hell, a lot of bullets shot at a fragile you. In Bullet Heaven you are the boss who shoots bullets everywhere and kills the hordes.

Of course there will be spagheti at the core, you will probably get stuck at mobs, because you can't pass though them
