While wearing a belt, knee sleeves and wrist wraps. And since you are in the squat rack doing wrist curls can I suggest only quarter curling? It would only be appropriate.

"Just because your back hurts, doesn't mean that deadlifts are going to make it hurt worse." This has been my experience. I've had days where I've rolled out of bed with my back stiff as a board, ready to spasm at the slightest provocation. And many times I've thought twice about deadlifting because of it. But then I get warmed up, do my squats, and then pull 5lbs more than I did the last time for a set of five on deadlift. And it feels great during my work set. The back pain flares up now and then, but ultimately, the process of increasing my squat and my deadlift has gradually diminished the severity of those flare-ups to the point where they're just a minor nuisance.

You don't even need to squat or deadlift, my back was too much of a wreck to risk it for a long time. You just need to load it regularly and your back will be able to fix itself.

Age 51, I have never had any back pain. So, there you go, I must be the exception to the rule. But I have had problems with my knees and shoulders. It's just that my back has always been very strong. It's may also be about body type where I am 6 feet tall, 210 pounds(36 inch waist so a bit flabby but not overweight), short 'Torso, longer legs but with a normal Femur and very long lower legs.

3:43 Thoughts on hitting the heavy bag or speed bag for general conditioning? More or less effective than the prowler? (Rip prefers you hit on the girls instead and stop wasting time in the gym, trust me.) 4:58 Any programming tips on strength and conditioning training for martial arts? (Rip's answer: Wrestle girls. Add that to your training. Or maybe it was have girls hanging on your wrist. Something like that. I listened to this only half awake on Friday morning. You do the full listening. By the way, also do hip thrusts, but you can do those with the girls, consensually and sensually.) 5:50 Magic is in the air. The smell of coffee didn't completely waft through the screen, which is a pity. I have my own coffee, though. 6:04 58-year-old geezer loving Starting Strength for 9 whole weeks and that's without the girls in the program. He asks what's the difference between soreness you can train through and the kind of soreness that tells you that you're not recovered enough? Practical telltale signs of either one? (Rip's wisdom: If you can't get it up in the morning, it's time to lay off for a while and definitely spend less time with the girls. You need to recover and adapt first. Redheads are harder to recover from than blondes. Redhead only once a week; blondes every other day of the week. Brunettes and raven-haired beauties for active recovery.) 8:48 Optimal level of body-fat percentage range in order to gain strength and muscle mass? For example in a 30-year-old male. (Rip's answer to this stupid question is that you should never ask a fat pink man what's optimal in terms of body fat.) 11:01 Thoughts on massage guns? He who asks the question writes they feel wonderful, but they are rather heftily priced. (Well, pleasure is not cheap in this day and age. Rip says to get a blowjob instead. Much cheaper. Use protection when you don't really know the girl and she jumped into your pick-up truck at the gas station or some back alley you were passing by randomly late at night with one hand leaning drowsily on your stick.) 12:19 Shaming Rippetoe for wasting some fine Irish whiskey (down the toilet). This is a reference to the now classic episode everyone should watch and especially drunks and winos of all sorts. But remember, Rip is armed, so don't show up all in a hissy fit at his gym and he shoots straight (between the eyes). Another classic episode is about upright rows, the best exercise you can do in the gym (in the squat rack). Superset those with wrist curls and you're on your way to become a bodybuilder. This question is about a stomach virus and that you should learn how to cook, i.e. get a girl in your life and especially your kitchen, because where else is the cooking going to take place? Actually, the question is about Rip's observations on shorter males and their advantages. Yep, you read that right. I mean under the bar, of course. Get your mind out the gutter. They for sure ain't more successful with girls than taller guys, mainly the 6-foot+ monsters with blue eyes and black hair blowing in the breeze on Friday morning. 16:25 Damn those silly paediatricians. I hope I spelled that correctly. Question/statement is about a paper that recommends increased skeletal loading for adolescents to prevent bone loss later in life. Rip's rant about these pedo--I mean paediatricians. Also about loaded farm kids, big ones. 23:32 English not first language? Deadlift 370, squat 400, and rack pull 485. This could very well be about anthropomorphic issues, but maybe not. There is definitely a language issue. 26:18 Is Rip a fan of the fiction of Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan stories)? Do they have shared character traits? (Ummm, Howard committed suicide fairly early in his life and so far Rip has not even considered pleasing the haters that way.) Rip recommends the 2009 movie Solomon Kane, based on a character created by REH. Now I do wonder myself if Rip has read the Kane stories by Karl Edward Wagner or the Elric stories by Michael Moorcock? If I may be so impudent as to ask these questions? In fact, I will stop this post short here because I want an answer first. And now I will listen to the Who's Behind Blue Eyes, the volume cranked up to the max.

Absolutely! I’m a bjj blue belt but I’ve got over 10 years grappling experience I wrestled, middle school-college. 100% the program helps I’m not a big guy only 182lbs at 5’7 getting my squat and deadlift up into the 4’s helped tremendously! My top control improved significantly and my scrambles from the bottom became waaay more explosive. I never really trained with weights because I was trying to avoid weight gain for wrestling but now it’s not an issue do yourself a favor get as strong as possible you won’t regret it!

sarms are very similar to steroids but are more specific as a sarm is a specific androgen receptor modulator. They are research chemicals and have been studying to be used to prevent muscle wasting in the same way that steroids have been. There isn't as much information available on them and lots of the ones available are fake. the only thing is that they are currently legal to own but illegal to use which makes them easier to obtain than a steroid. some of them are more risky than others. for example yk-11 has almost no information available about it but ostarine has more information about it. They are potentially toxic, will upset your cholesterol levels, as well as other risks. whenever considering to use a drug you need to be able to make a full risk to reward calculation.

Massive disappointment “haters” where have you gone? Have you given up? Have you run out of fresh content? Rip is still a good target, with his single minded, self opinionated, bigoted view on life, combined with a physique only the morbidly obese would desire. There, done my bit 😀. Now for a compliment, of all the weight training coaches in existence, no other person has studied and written about movement patterns, so completely as Rip. Maybe consider future content to include going through each major compound movement, of course in great detail as per the book.

You should pronounce Five and Drive as the EDUCATED Englishmen do, NOT like John Oliver does it, and definitely not like the east Londoners speak ... why?? americans love how the Educated ACCENT of the english talk sounds ----->> they buy any crap on infomercials shown in late night tv, if the asshole selling it has a strained voice and makes them feel part of the circle. Scottish accent works for that too... but for my taste, I'd say that instead of your pronunciation, which is very UNDERSTANDABLE, I would suggest working on NOT running your words all together when you get angry or exited, eliminating the understandable part of your speech; which other than your great knowledge, is the best part of the thing you do.

Dont know how much (your PR) you have actually deadlifted or squatted in your time, guessing you're under 6' tall and haven't squatted 700lbs or cleaned 400lbs, but deadlifting even in moderate volumes above 85% beats the crap out of you(nervous, skeletal, muscular), more than 1-2 times per week is the max capacity for a sub 700lbs deadlifter, majority of 800lbs plus lifters can only train the lift heavy every other week(alternating periodazation).
