I was MISINFORMED ABOUT QUINOA. 🥺 I gave away 4 bags of Quinoa because I was told Quinoa was full of starch, and it was more Starch in it. Watching this video has really helped me. On my way to the store to repurchase my Quinoa. I would eat the red Quinoa or the yellow one. Thank you so much for this valuable information . Thank you so much

I like how transparent your review is. In view that quinoa is more costly then rice in general, would it bee better to substitute quinoa with other food source to obtain that amount of body needs?

Red Quinoa is electric food. You must first soak it overnight to remove the phytic acid and anti nutrients. If you soak two cups, you must add four cups of clean water. and cook in the rice cooker, not forgetting to add some turmeric powder and black pepper. I do not eat rice as it is arsenic but red quinoa for lunch and dinner.

Have you done a comparison video like this with regular brown and white rice (non-basmati) as well? I'd like to see how all the rice types compare in a chart like this.

Thank you for this comparison. The video highlights several metrics that are sometimes ignored in discussions of staple grains, such as accessibility and arsenic content. Any discussion of healthy dietary choices *must* include a consideration of what the client or patient can reasonably afford or find available on a regular basis, otherwise it is not a good choice for their health plan. Thank you!

Thanks for your insightful comment. Whenever my patients at my clinic or my students at my training programmes ask me, "Doctor, which diet is best for me?"; I would tell them, "Let's focus on getting YOUR diet better, in all aspects and to the best degree that you are WILLING and ABLE to." Thanks for dropping by my channel and taking the effort to leave a comment. Blessings, Dr Chan

Price in the US for quinoa last I checked was significantly higher than say beans, and of course the standard brown or white rice we see on shelves here. I would eat it if it was an option at a restaurant for sure, though. I only eat whole plant foods, though, without oil so that rules out a lot of restaurant foods without a custom order. I'm on Mcdougall's Starch Solution, but I found specific foods which I eat almost everyday, and these include: black beans, whole wheat pasta, romaine lettuce, bananas, oatmeal (with sugar and salt added), and tea. Oatmeal isn't everyday. I also consume hot chocolate: cacao powder and sugar, and some other fruits.

Yes, even here in Singapore, prices of Quinoa is still significantly higher than other grains or staple option. But Quinoa does not need to be the main staple, it can certainly still be part of a group of food - be it beans or rice to form one's staple. Thanks for dropping by my channel and leaving a comment. Blessings

Thanks for making a clear and easy to understand video. I had quinoa instead of white rice with my meal tonight and I felt less full in my stomach but my appetite was satisfied and I did not get hungry later. The added nutrition and slightly lower GI helps, but I don’t know if it will help me lose weight which is my goal.

Is quinoa a rice grain
@fatoumfatoumeh

Quinoa is unfortunately high in oxalates, and brown rice has arsenic…so my choice is regular basmati rice, I mix it with shredded cauliflower so that I will eat less of the rice, for eg, 100g rice + 50g cauliflower. Eat with one cup of green vegetables, some colorful veges, 3oz of animal protein, and a little bit of healthy fat like extra virgin olive oil or cow ghee or coconut milk…and you will get all the nutrients and fibre you need in a meal. Combining the rice with protein, fat and fibre will also lower the glycemic index of the meal and it won’t be an issue.
