Codys such a fan favorite for so many reasons. Personally Cody's not my favorite but I still like him. He's a geeky, socially awkward boy that I feel like a lot of people relate with. Cody is creepy to Gwen on a couple of occasions but it's only about 2 scenes (the scenes mentioning Gwen's bra mostly). I feel like the Boney island episode highlights Cody at his best in season 1. Cody is rejected by Gwen while they're paddling to Boney Island and he handles the rejection well. He's not upset at Gwen or feels like he deserves gwen and in episode 22 it confirms that with him saying "as long as she's happy I'm happy." Such a refreshing take on the whole "nerdy guy gets the girl" stereotype. In world tour he gets a taste of his own medicine by having Sierra around (imo I feel like Sierra being extreme) and towards the end of world tour he feels like an underdog and kinda like a voice of reason compared to Heather and Alejandro. He was rarely the centre of drama giving the viewers a break. I feel like because of his nerdy, socially awkward persona he was relatable to many fans especially those in fandoms (plus skinny white boys get super popular in fandoms) also I feel like Noco is also a big reason why he's so popular. (Btw it's like 3am when I'm writing this so it's super sloppy and rambley sorry)

I absolutely agree with your take on Owen I think he’s massively overhated (I know he gets love from fans but lately everyone has been hating on him) and I get the fart jokes aren’t for everyone but I think he’s optimistic nature and friendliness are super overlooked and I wish more people acknowledged how sweet and sunshiney he really is! :D Everyone mentions how DJ, Bridgette, Lindsay, Zoey, Bridgette and even Cody are some of the nicest contestants on Total Drama (which I agree with…except Cody) but I feel like everyone ignores Owen except when people talk about his friendship with Noah which is understandable they have great chemistry and bounce off each other amazingly but I wish more people acknowledged his likeable traits C:

I disagree on Wally Darling being overrated, purely because the Welcome Home fandom mostly seems to hold pretty much all the characters in equal regard. In a lot of the fandom content I've seen, they're all kinda treated as a group rather than as individuals. I think most of the reason there's so much focus on Wally specifically is just because he's the main character and clearly set apart from everyone else.

To be fair I don’t think the way that Ken is the most talked about is an issue with society or something like that. I see it as he was simply that heaps funny and endearing and they perhaps just, even incidentally, ended up making a character that audiences liked more because of how likeable the character is. Margot was amazing in the movie but I think the way they wrote Barbie as a character it really could’ve been any toy character from any franchise and it would’ve been the same. I reckon there was more they could’ve done with the character and Ken just happened to be so much of a character audiences could just latch on to

Not really a fan of the word “overrated” my main issue is that people use it very loosely, meaning that “oh I don’t like the character” or “they’re to popular, overrated” which leads into the most of the characters I disagree How is Caillou and Eric overrated? Whoever submitted it must not understand it. SpongeBob, Hello Kitty and Pikachu being overrated feels like people don’t like mascot characters, saying Megual is overrated because fans felt unjustified for me. For TD how is Duncan, Gwen, Cortney, and Owen overrated? They all have there purpose in the show and they have fair amounts of haters so I say there divisive especially Cortney. Cody and Julia being overrated felt like “they popular” when yeah I do understand, but they can be fair reasons to like these characters So not really a fan of the word overrated at least in my opinion. Also based Dawn placement, was supposed you didn’t know since I’ve seen people call her overrated multiple times

I remember as a kid both Courtney and Duncan were my absolute favorites so when their relationship started developing I went absolutely feral and was so hooked. I then saw the whole love triangle thing develop and it made me so infuriated I just never watched the other seasons because I was so in love with what they both had previously. It actually kind of shocked me to see that people think Courtney is overrated because I’ve actually seen a lot of people hate her? On another note I am very passionate about debating wether hello kitty is over rated or not. See she has infact been the face of Sanrio literally forever so there’s always merch of her but I never really see anyone call her their favourite? People only tend to purchase kitty stuff when they aren’t genuine Sanrio fans and just remember her from their childhoods n such. It’s actually rare to come by Sanrio fans who actually have kitty as their favourite. I would understand a statement like cinna or melo and kuromi being overrated but I feel like it’s an odd word choice for kitty. Oversaturated? Good god yes but I don’t think she’s rated that highly in comparison. My favorites are also characters like Purin, monkichi, kirimi, hangyodon, usahannah ect who get way less love but recently I’ve started to just love kitty herself due to watching the show and playing roller rescue as a kid and appreciating who she is as a character when people seem to think of her only as like a blank cardboard character who’s just used as a face for the company… sorry for the rant

I haven't seen Across the Spiderverse, but... as someone who isn't a super conventionally attractive person... actually, at all, tbh (I am fat, scruffy haired, with a bulbous nose and my face is covered in acne, I could go on forever), I think calling it "pretty privilege" when a morally gray character is popular is a bit of a stretch. From what I can tell, Miguel is also a character who taps into peoples' love for somewhat evil but also angsty characters and I think that's really valid. I don't think saying "God, Miguel is so hot, I wish he would [censored]" is the same as saying "He did nothing wrong". Also, as for Amity, I think "the other characters didn't get as much time" is a perfectly good explanation. Imagine there's a movie and there's two characters. Character A gets all the development and focus and character B, while likable and may have an interesting backstory, just wasn't as deeply explored because they ran out of time. Like, yeah, maybe they were planning to do more, but unless someone is really into the behind the scenes of the movie, they may never find out and just think that A is much more interesting than B and like them more because that's all they got. So on that front, no, I don't think Amity is overrated... Also, to be completely honest, I hate the word "overrated" anyways, lol.

my relationship with Kokichi is interesting... I really like some of the V3 cast (namely Korekiyo, Miu, Kiibo amd Maki) but Kokichi? I love how chaotic he is but he's kind of just a combination of Nagito and Celestia. He's very interesting of a character to analyse but he's just too similar to better characters! Nagito is a geniusly written "antagonist who thinks he's a good guy" trope and I guess Kokichi is the inverse of that being a good guy who thinks he's evil. Overall, I love his design and voice but there's just better written characters namely Maki, Shuichi, Mikan, Nagito, Kazuichi (before he reverts in Ch.5), Gundham and Akane notice how DR2's cast is listed a lot? well, I personally think they were the best written. my full opinion is: DR1 had the best writing, DR2 had the best cast, DRAE had the best humour and character dynamics and V3 had the best story

imo the danganronpa anime’s r shite i never watched them i couldn’t get thru it 😭😭 but it’s v subjective because i don’t like anime but love the games, i think only the first got adapted into an anime but kokichi is from the 3rd game (danganronpa V3) minus the spin off. it’s prob right to call him overrated but the same would go for nagito in danganronpa v2 lolll, i think he’s a tad more popular but i wouldn’t say he’s more deserving of being called overrated bc it’s generally agreed he’s a slightly better written character . still it’s not really comparable because he’s prob one of the best written characters in the franchise. i highly recommend watching the gameplays of danganronpa or playing them!!
