Short vlog (it's been awhile). Just finished building Stronghold Pro CNC, wanted to do a quick overview of the kit. Wiring and cooling setup videos coming.

The good thing about this being one of the first reviews is I bet Rat Rig will see this! Thanks for the review! I have a killer bee and contemplating upgrading

Well, never thought about that too but yes somehow RR presence in youtube is somehow poor. 3D printers kinda gets reviewed, CNC machines do not. Regarding killerbee vs stronghoild... unless you're milling aluminum I'd say that the spindle is the biggest difference. Fast, powerful, watecooled :)

Thanks for this video! I'm also currently assembling the Stronghold Pro so it's very useful for me.

You're welcome! Have you done the wiring already?
@KubaKoristka22 күн бұрын
@@techbytch Not yet. I only finished building the table for the CNC last week. And right now I'm assembling the frame of the Stronghold. I'm looking forward for the wiring though :D

Thanks for the Video. Waiting for the next ones. ;) Did you report all issues you had to Rat Rig?

Thanks! I'm getting through the electrical and cooling slowly, trial and error. I wrote them about print quality and I'm also commenting a bit on the manual (especially regarding the VFD setup which was not covered at all).

Thanks! Wiring in progress, yes, I'm currently moving into new space so this takes some time.

@@techbytch Good luck with the moving :) I'm waiting on your opinion to press the trigger and buy it

Great Video, I'm in the middle of self-sourcing a stronghold myself, any tips?!

Best of luck to you, mate! First of all I'd take a bit longer cables because the stock are like for blackbox 1m away from the router. I'd go either with Igus chainflex or flat cables or at least a bit thicker silicone cables (18 awg when rr suggests 20 awg, 22 awg where they suggest 24 etc). Everything else is pretty well designed, you know. Just stick to the BOM and the build manual and you are good to go.

I have the same set up. Been running for a few months now. The issues i have are 1. The blackbox wifi connection is temperamental and 2. I can only get 3 m/min before the steppers stall. I've look everywhere but cannot see if you can simply upgrade the psu to 48v and i think 24v is under powered. Let me know how you get on.

Well thanks, I finally set up the VFD (thanks to the error in the RatRig wiring manual, LOL) and we'll see how it goes from here. I don't thing BlackBox is capable of handling 48v per stepper. Have you tried to ajust the current on the blackbox?

power of steppmotors? speed of machine?
@techbytchАй бұрын
G'day! Motors are LDO-57STH86, around 25kg/cm. Speed...well it's a router, so speed varies depending what you're cutting.
