"You never know" is my favorite track because i've been a blink since 2016 and i've personally experienced and seen all the hate they got, defended them, fought so many on so many platforms and at that time, i never knew they were gonna get THIS popular and now just seeing them at such heights achieving so much and speaking about the hate they got, especially jennie from all the 2018 one month thing really hit me hard

“Fans” literally made Jennie apologise on her birthday and she said “im sorry these days im a little lacking I’ll try my best to improve”

When Jennie sings her part "Cause everybody sees what they wanna see, it's easier to judge me than to believe." it hits different because she's the most hated girl in kpop for some reason. Out of all of their songs, I think this one is the most personal to all of them and probably means the most.

I'll always be waiting" is about her trainee days, when her mother used to send her flowers to make her feel better when she was depressed in the competitive environment. They put a lot of their hearts and their memories in the songs (Stay also talks about those days and Jennie also heped writing it). These kind of things show also how they are part of the creative process of the songs, but almost doesn't receive credits. They show their hearts and their soul, but they are not recognized for it.

I just think it's so sad that Blackpink gets so much hate. They're just trying to survive and do their best like everyone else so it sucks to see bad people purposefully hate on them, bring them down and discredit all their hardwork and dedication. I got into kpop because of blackpink. They made me fall in love with their music, and personalities. I'm a new blink and seeing the division of the fans and how they celebrate one member and bring another down just breaks my heart. They all work so hard. They have all gone through so much to get to where they are and some "fans" don't see their hardships and just criticize. The girls care for one another so much and I just hate how some fans want to create some sort of problem and conflict between them. They blame what happens to one to another and its just so sad. I just hope the girls stay strong and continue to be themselves, and not listen to those who try to paint them as someone they aren't. I hope they keep shining individually as well as together. I hope they know how much they have changed lives including mine for the better. And I hope that they're happy and healthy. And I'll continue to support them all and celebrate all of them because that's what they deserve.

The best thing about "The album" is that it does not have b-sides, they are all hits, so there are only 8 songs, because blackpink is quality and not quantity, and what I liked the most was the great interpretation of all the girls, but especially the excellent voice of Rosé.

Crazy Over You is actually my favorite song of the album hahaha the song is supposed to be kind of junny and kind of sensual haha I LOVE the drop, it's so sexy the way Jennie says "I went crazy over you" and the rap part of Lisa saying "don't you know I'm loco" (crazy in spanish), they ended me me in those parts haha

I cannot possibly appreciate you enough. I love blackpink but that was mainly because their mvs and songs are such a bop that it's always stuck in my head every minute of the day. But I never really paid attention to the lyrics and watching your videos has changed that for me. I love blackpink for so many reasons now that I've literally lost count.

Jennie vocals really shined this album and it shows how much she has improved since ktl, but I did wish Jennie had a lot more rapping lines since she is the groups main rapper. You never know hits really hard. Its my favorite song from the album. Pinks really go through so much ever since their debut. Jennie got so much hate during her solo because of the dating scandal with EXO member and called lazy dancer but it is because of her health issue, she mentioned in their documentary. Lisa got so much hate and unfair treatment just because she is not korean ever since her debut, She experienced racism from korean people every single day, Lisa also got so much hate during ice cream era for her almost first time having a lot of lines in the song, Lisa got so so much hate during her solo debut because of jelousy and up until now and some so called blinks were just faking their love for lisa and left her hanging whenever there is circumstances and speak ill about her. Rosé is not well appreciated by her fans and been called "weak voice" in kpop and Jisoo who always doing her best in everything but still got hate for no reason and saying she is just a "visual". Blackpink as a group being the punching bag of kpop. And blackpink being hated because the fans of their seniors (2ne1) saying that blackpink is the reason why 2ne1 disbanded which is NOT true. When The Album was released, I found that Rosé and Lisa really stood out. My initial thought was that highlighting them was intentional to help ramp up to their solos. No doubt, Rosé's vocals blew me away. I also felt that "You Never Know" was the perfect ending to the album. It wound the listener down. I love BP b-sides!

But i also think maybe because their vocal positions (Jennie: Main rapper/lead vocalist Rosé:Main vocals Lisa:Lead rap/sub vocal Jisoo: lead vocals ) and the type and genre of the songs (like for example rap/hiphop song like pretty savage Jisoo might have less vocal time compared to something like love sick girls or you never know) Jisoo definitely needs more lines her voice is so unique!!!

I don't know if someone already said it, but here it goes: A lot of people are calling Jennie YG's princess, because they think that she gets the best solo promotions, outfits & had the first solo out. And therefore she doesn't need to work as hard (referring to the whole 'Jennie lazy' scandal, that happend some years ago) So the "Didn't wanna be a princess, I'm priceless" line is probably an answer to that. She is saying, that she is not more privileged than the others & is just as hard working.

My ranking of The Album is probably: 1) Pretty Savage 2) Lovesick Girls 3) Love To Hate Me 4) How You Like That 5) Bet You Wanna 6) Ice Cream 7) You Never Know (The lyrics are beautiful, but I'm not into slower songs 😅 I listen to it on repeat when I'm in the mood for slower songs tho 😂) 8) Crazy Over You And this is my second favorite album from them! Maybe you don't know but Lisa is Covid positive (despite being fully vaccinated, it's a "breakthrough infection") and the other girls are in self isolation waiting for their test results. So thank you for this, it provided some positivity to us blinks in hard times! Your interpretation of Love To Hate Me being about toxic fans is really interesting because Blackpink is probably one of the most hated K-pop groups, if not THE most hated, the hate they receive is really at insane levels especially Jennie and Lisa's, but a big portion of that IS coming from toxic solo stans, people who are fans of just one of the girls and view the rest as competition or even enemies of their favorite. Blackpink fandom is unique that way, we probably have the most amount of solo stans, probably because all four girls have solo gigs and high super star aura and individual fame and all four have distinctly different personalities that can appeal to different types of people. So great observation, you are very correct. The way I see it, The Album songs could all be about a relationship - some of them about the flirty, sexy initial stage (or the "hunting" lol because as you said with Crazy Over You, even the lyrics of their sexy songs demonstrate control and the girls being the "predators" choosing their "target") and the subsequent toxicity and fallout, showing both their anger and revenge and more vulnerable side with Lovesick Girls and You Never Know. But that "love" they are chasing could easily be interpreted as fame and the love of the fans' as well, viewing it as a game at first, determined to win, flexing their power once they get it, but then their response to toxic fans and with You Never Know, how they sometimes have trouble handling this dark side. Either way, even though at first glance the songs look all over the place in terms of both meaning and genre, it is still possible to view The Album as a cohesive body of work telling a complete story. About Jisoo's lines - if we look at the overall line distribution of their discography, Jisoo has always had the least amount of lines, so this is not really a new trend sadly. But it is improving! I would say the overall line distribution of The Album is the most equal, compared to their previous EPs. Of course it can improve more, and we just need more rap lines for our main rapper Jennie

You mentioned that people keep things inside, and I've found that applies especially to sadness; they don't cry where others can see, because they are afraid of being emotionally attacked in their moment of vulnerability. I genuinely don't like judging idols cause of the same case in "you never know" we don't know who they are as a person and we don't know what they're going through. I was new to the fandom when the lazy thing goes off. As a new fan, what I have in my mind is that Jennie is a human being. Imagine constantly doing good on stage since debut and a couple of stages where you didn't do a certain routine people are quick to point it out and judge you. Idols are human beings and they go through stuff that we don't know whether it is physically or mentally. I just appreciate them so much that I don't want anything but their safety and happiness tbh. Blackpink can take a 1-2 year break per album and I will be fine. Let them live their lives, they literally put their teenage years training just to be the idols we're watching and admiring right now.

Crazy Over You is about obsessive love, almost psychotic. You’re right when you said that it’s “scary”. You may notice the horror undertones in the melody. It is can make you uneasy. The bass and the eerie tone like in horror movies. Jisoo’s “eeee-eeee” is like that laugh in horror movies. Also you can imagine that laugh like those of witches mixing a potion in a cauldron, probably to make the man they love just their own. This actually reminds me of Lorde’s Writer in the Dark.
