I just wanna say smth, blackpink do help in writing their own songs. It’s just that yg doesn’t give them credit. Jennie mentioned before that she wrote solo and also stay. Lately yg started adding their credits in their past songs which shows that they’ve been helping in producing/writing since the beginning. In the album Jennie and jisoo helped in writing and producing specific songs.

Whoever left that comment. Blackpink members wrote songs like Stay, Lovesick Girls, Solo (English rap), On the Ground, Gone, Clarity (korean lyrics), SG. Stop discrediting the girls. They trained hard for 6 long years and had to write songs and make their own choreographies. Both Teddy and BLACKPINK members on many occasions have said that they work together really closely and the girls would tell Teddy what messages and feelings and thoughts they want to express. Teddy would put those into the songs he writes for them. So, eventhough BLACKPINK might not write the songs but the messages in the lyrics are coming from them. Teddy just "puts it on paper".

"Pretty Savage" is definitely one of my favorites when it comes to the The Album. Honestly didn't expect a diss track (apparently I really love my diss tracks lol) to the haters coming from them lol but I loved it! We got OT4 rapping too and it's just everything lol. And everything you addressed at the beginning about that comment I completely agree. What I find funny too is how some people say they don't write their own lyrics or aren't part of the music producing process, but you get something like Lisa's "born skinny bitch" line and it does make you wonder (which btw, "Pretty Savage" is Lisa's favorite lol I wonder why 😂). They don't have to write the lyrics or produce to contribute and I'm sure they do. There's like two more songs in The Album where it's the same thing! Thank you for addressing that comment you posted at the beginning. Haters always say that BP is shallow and manufactured and such. They get a lot of undeserved hate and they had to constantly prove themselves more than any other group. It is almost as if the coolest thing to do is to hate on them. Do you know that they said one time that they don’t search themselves on the Internet to protect their mental well-being because they know how much hate they receive. And to think they receive it because they are doing what they have trained and worked hard for for years and years. People overlook that they have talent. Just because they don’t write most of their songs doesn’t make them less of an artist. You can have the best song in the world but if it it’s not sung and performed by someone good, then it can become average or even mediocre. And it’s like saying that you don’t like the actors in a movie because they didn’t write the script. Ahhh this was so fun to watch! I couldn't stop smiling the whole time, your reactions to Ice Cream and Bet You Wanna in particular was so entertaining😂 Loved it! In terms of sexy lyrics or using swear words Blackpink has always pushed boundaries. They never go by the rules of what a K-pop girl group is allowed to say or do, even outside their music - they mostly won't do aegyo, their fan service and interactions are more similar to Western artists than K-pop idols, they wear what they like despite criticism from netizens sometimes... I could go on. They are certainly very bold, especially for a popular girl group that gets as scrutinized as they do. And I love them for it😌 In HYLT the bird and the plane is a reference to an iconic scene from an old Superman movie - their own superwoman moment, if you will. You mentioned wanting to watch a live performance of Pretty Savage and they have an excellent one in The Late Late Show with James Corden, highly recommended! Another recommendation: Ice Cream and Lovesick Girls, which you will react to in part 2, have music videos so I strongly suggest checking them out, watch the MV for LSG in Part 2 if you haven't filmed it yet, you can react to lyrics as well since it has captions. It's a gorgeous MV! Another suggestion: Since the girls have a relatively short discography, it will be quite easy for you to go through. After you have completed The Album, you should look into their previous EPs - Square Up and Kill This Love EP. Both have 4 songs (KTL has four new songs and one remix lol). I think you have already done their singles before Square Up (Boombayah, Whistle, Playing With Fire and As If It's Your Last). As for that comment about writing lyrics and putting on personas, Teddy has written and produced their whole discography and he has known them since they were teenagers, they always mention how they are in the studio a lot with him, brainstorming ideas, telling him about stories they would like to tell in their songs, giving ideas, even with the beats and music production they give a lot of input, Teddy plays them the demos and they choose the songs themselves, even change or add certain things like Lisa suggesting the traditional Thai instruments for her solo Lalisa. So that comment you read at the beginning about the girls being "manifactured robots" couldn't be further from the truth. It is true that some of that "bad bitch" vibe is a persona since all four are extremely sweet in real life, but it is a persona THEY choose to put on themselves, it's not forced on them and I don't doubt that they have their savage side in real life as well, they are genuinely nice girls but they don't tolerate bullshit and all four have shown that on certain real life occasions too. Also I know YG has had some issues with giving the artists credits in the past, some 2ne1 members had spoken out about it if I'm not wrong, Blackpink members have also mentioned participating in the song writing process despite the lack of credits so make of that what you will🤷‍♀️ Either way, all the girls were trained to write lyrics as trainees, especially the rap line (as evidenced with the rap verses they wrote and added for their Sure Thing and So Hot covers) and all four finally have official credits now as well - Jennie and Jisoo for Lovesick Girls (Jennie also credited as a producer), Rosé for On The Ground and Gone, Lisa for SG (her collab with DJ Snake).

"Crazy Over You" is my favorite BP song. the music and lyrics are the best so please check it out (not the live version because the music is different in the live version). "You Never Know" and "Hope Not" and "Stay" are deep lyrically and show the girls vocals the best. Do the "Stay" live version where Jennie gets choked up and Jisoo and Blinks finish her lines for her because that is the best version ever. Lisa barely holds back her tears and Jisoo gives Jennie magical cheek pinches to get her to calm down enough to finish her lines.

My favorite thing is waking up in the morning and seeing a notification that you posted a new video. By watching your reactions I feel as if I'm discovering these artists again for the first time! If I'm not mistaken, Ice Cream was written by Ariana Grande, which would explain the lyrics. But yes, this Album definitely showed us a very different side to the girls.

When you see "you never know" and "love to hate me," you can understand what they have gone through and all, and yeah, YG didn't give credits, but they say Jennie is the one who wrote lyrics for "you never know" and "stay" and they gave credits for lovesick girls. And for "sure thing," it is a cover song, but Jennie and Lisa wrote the rap parts of this song when they were trainees.

When you give a script and a director to a great actress, while she didn't write the words, she must create the character for the screen. Similarly, whether or not the Blackpink girls wrote the lyrics or music to a given song or not (and increasingly they are directly involved in that process too), they have to bring the song and characters to life in videos and endlessly varied life performances. Otherwise it's just an idea on a page. AND THEY DO IT BRILLIANTLY.

When BP collab with western female artists they showed their seductive side of them (Kiss and make up with Dua, Sour Candy with Lady Gaga, Ice Cream with Selena, and Bet you Wanna with Cardi) in all of those collab songs hidden the sexual innuendo as well ofc for those who understand and pay attention to the lyrics. And you the only one who realised this tho😆 Yes YGE formed and trained them to be superstar with lots of strict rules and certain image persona..but if those didnt suit the girls then it gonna be a failed mission. So for those who thinks they acted to be like that or faking their persona then they didnt pay attentions well to the Pinks. We all have two side images within ourself but its depends on how we able to navigate it. The pinks succeed with that and thats why they are pretty and savage girls who inspired many people esp women. In real life Jisoo is more mysterious than her cute and shy image on stage, while Jennie is more shy and upclose than her sassy image, Lisa is more cheerfull and goofy than her swag image then Rosé is more sassy and outgoing (she paid attentions to Blinks comments and updates and didnt affraid to answer them in her own way) than her sweet and innocent image. You're so intuitive and intelligent and I just love your reactions! And about the intro, we do know that the girls have actually helped wrote some of their music. Jennie + Jisoo co-wrote Lovesick Girls and Jennie helped produce it as well along with David Guetta and their main producer Teddy. For their older song, Stay, here's a quote from Jennie in a Soompi article: "We were working on ‘Stay’ even before we made our debut. When I thought about the lyrics and such, I thought about my members and the fact that we were able to come this far and I got emotional." So, she helped write it as well. Lisa wrote her rap in As If It's Your Last. For many of their covers, they rewrite the lyrics such as Jisoo mixing in Korean lyrics into Habits (Stay High). And Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé have all written at least some part of their solos. Now here's some speculation that's just my opinion: they're in YG so of course they have a specialized team for writing lyrics, but even if they weren't credited on some songs, do we really think they just sit outside of the room as Teddy works on some ideas? Especially Jennie? I have seen an old video in the past where Jennie was sad because her notebook which had 70+ songs randomly disappeared from a room in the YG building. It would have been lovely to see what she wrote, but us blinks knew since then she has some love for writing.

As for the initial commenter, I think they're overlooking the obvious fact that every "manufactured" group isn't successful, which means that they all need to bring their own unique qualities to the table no matter the level of corporate input. The fact that Blackpink was originally intended to be a 9 member group like Girls Generation or Twice clearly shows this group has its own magic and almost every reactor pretty much says right after listening that Blackpink feels different to others. And they definitely utilize all their western collabs to explore their sexy side more freely, from their Dua Lipa collab, Kiss & Make Up, to Lisa's solo collab literally titled Sexy Girl (SG). Definitely highly recommemd you react to the Ice Cream MV and behind the scenes videos, as well as the MBC performance of Pretty Savage (the one where Jennie is wearing jeans that spell "censored" across the front).

The Song Ice Cream sounds really dirty at fiirst, but the lyrics have actually other meaning: “Snow cone chilly” is a reference to jewelry, being “coldhearted”, and just having that “icy cool” demeanor. “Willy” is a reference to the classic 90s kids movie, “Free Willy”. “Jeans”, while an obvious reference to the classic Michael Jackson song, is also a play on the word “genes” and being born with that “it” factor.” -Bekum Boom (writer) Moses parted the Red Sea for anyone not familiar with that story. So basically… I’m gonna need you to top that if you’re my man. That is the standard. If you can’t part a sea… then you can’t party with me. “Keep it fresh like roses” has two meanings in a way.
