awesome I ran my summit brushless with a 2000kv 6pole motor for many years on 4s. Stock gearing, modified cogs in the transmission so there wasnt a ton of play between power and free rolling, which really helps the drive train. Only ever broke a couple axles at the diff, easy fix as there is so much material on them. Drill a new hole and ran for a couple more years. One of the best all around rigs I ever had. Obviously I didnt bash it like my other monster trucks, but it was a trailing/crawling beast. Heck of a floater too ;)

Your drive shafts should be ok for a while I'm running hobbywing xerun pro 6s esc and a tenshock 4274 2200kv motor sensored and my gearing is 14/64 and I can crawl slow as stock or wheely all over. I have hot racing metal drive shafts and leading edge machine V2 transmission dog carrier to take the slop out. And rc4wd 40 series mud slingers . And rpm rod ends. But I never did break a stock drive shaft before I switched. For sure get the 7mm toe links and rpm rod ends. The weakest point on this summit is the rear links and the slop in the transmission. I love mine man it never breaks anymore. Keep the summit video coming man.

Nice one! The prob with ballooning is that you end up with nearly zero contact with the road, and it raises the center of gravity, so almost zero control. Belted tires would solve that, but then the reduced diameter also reduces the top speed. But at least there's less chance of breaking the truck! Oh! I just though of something else to improve control. How about doing what they do for shipping the new ones. Zip tie the suspension links so the ride height is reduced and stiffened?????? 👍
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
That definitely would probably help if I zipped tied the suspension down….I’ve done that with my 1/16 e revo when doing speed runs….it seems to work pretty well

If you want to take out some of the body roll, you can try the E revo's cantilever pivots, there are 4 of them (one is specific to the Summit), and 3 of them you will loose (I believe) about 30mm of compression travel at the top end of the compression movement (are progressive). The sleight outward toe can help a little with stability, but will really shorten the life of your tires by scrubbing the inside edges, they'll wear much faster.
@RCKnockout3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recommendations! So you mean the cantilevers or the e revo shocks?
@drog3433 жыл бұрын
@@RCKnockout Yeah, the plastic pivots that the tie-rods connect to, and screw into those metal posts on the chassis (there are 3 90mm ones for the E revo, and the 1 120mm long travel version for the Summit). I forget what the part is actually called.
@RCKnockout3 жыл бұрын
@@drog343 so if I put them on my summit it will essentially give me less suspension travel?
@drog3433 жыл бұрын
@@RCKnockout Yeah, that is what they claim anyway. It is also in the manual, and I decided to try the different ones out myself, and Hot Racing used to have (maybe they still have them) an aluminum one that had all the adjustment settings, and you just get progressively stiffer settings the closer in towards the mounting posts that you attached the pushrod, otherwise if you get the Traxxas ones, they just have 3 fixed positions to choose from.

"Will it hold up to brushless?" Well, yeah, its basically a V1 erevo 😅
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Actually it’s not the same as a v1 e revo at all……doesn’t share the same diffs or transmission
@ManuelOrtizification2 жыл бұрын
@@RCKnockout actually internally, the transmission is functionally the same, 3 stacked gears(basically a remixed emaxx transmission) It just has a low range set of gears and shifter in there. Pretty sure you can do a 2 speed conversion on the old Erevo too. Strength of the diffs is pretty much the same too(made of cheap sintered metal) the only real difference is you might shred the diff lockers with the extra power if something jams up 😅 Plenty have gone brushless with the summit and the failure points are the plastic drive shafts, rear diff, and final drive gear in the transmission(same as the V1 Erevo) - you've got the added problem of wheels that cant handle high speed though. Have a look at the Louise MT 3.8 range, you'll want the Rocket style for speed runs, and the Pioneer are a decent all rounder for off road use
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
@@ManuelOrtizification yeah the stock summit driveshafts aren’t good for power…..neither are the diffs…..I’ve never owned an E Revo…..but I don’t think it is nearly as weak overall as the Summit…..it’s just not good at taking very much power
@ManuelOrtizification2 жыл бұрын
@@RCKnockout they actually run the same drive shafts too, about 90% of the drive train is shared between the two and much of it is shared with the E/Tmaxx as well (good thing if you own all 3) You can run the spiral cut diff gears (5379R, also fits the slash 4x4) and the steel drive shafts (axles and center - 5451R/5650R respectively) also uses the slash 4x4 slipper clutch so you can run a 46T spur gear for even more speed. The only thing you cant fit from the V1 Erevo is the output gears in the transmission or the center diff. transmission case on the summit is longer in the bottom end to make room for the high/low gears.(you can swap out the entire transmission though. Erevo 2.0 transmission fits too) Basically all of the RPM upgrades for the V1 Erevo and the 2.0 fit as well (true track set up eliminates the issue of rod ends pulling off in the back) Traxxas has exploded views on their website which can be helpful to see whats compatible 😉
