In today's video, I watch some of my old vines and make faces and words in response. I am the first person to ever do this, so if anyone else does it, let them know they are stealing from me. It was my idea that I had and if someone else does it they should go to jail. I’d love to be the one to arrest them too, so if anyone has some handcuffs I can borrow for when someone steals this idea from me and I have to incarcerate them myself, let me know.
Edit: just saw that there are literally thousands of videos like this one. Sorry about what I said before. If I could delete it I would, but unfortunately I can’t. Also, can no one arrest me, please? I know I said originally that that’s what the punishment should be for stealing a video idea, but I’m now thinking we should just issue a warning instead. I’ll consider myself warned.

I went on a road trip with my boyfriend and we both quoted “road work ahead” every time we passed a sign. After the section of road work sometimes I would see a little sign that said “end road work”, when I’d see that I would say “babe, they’re protesting!”

And they called me back and I start in August. @@YourPalJamieEllis I think I had around 80-85 wpm on the test for the application. And they also explicitly said something to the effect of "you can't make more than 3 mistakes" that worried me more than the speed tbh

@@camerontjoe5535 it's going well! I learned all the short hand and all the speed typing techniques. We use a software called TypeWell so there are certain rules like we use the letter J to mean "th" and you can omit vowels so the word "things" shortens to look like "jngs" and stuff like the letter X represents the word "and" just to save keystrokes and increase speed obviously. It's kind of like learning a new language. But I'm pretty proficient now and I got my first shadow coming up in a couple weeks! Thanks for asking!

I believe that "Road Work Ahead" is the perfect vine. The subtleties of the clip are so interesting, from the play on words of a terrible grammatical mistake to the Vengaboys' "We Like to Party" softly playing in the background. @@maya_yaser The quote was that they were "bad" at the first attempt, not everyone who tries things on the first try is bad, they may be ok, good, or more rarely excellent. Personal example- the first time I ice-skated I was, not to toot my own horn, but pretty good, I think the fact that I had been rollerblading before helped me have my balance down. So while the rest of my peers walked, slid into a wall or fell over, I was just gliding about then testing how fast I could go & what rollerblade tricks could be applied or tweaked. My sister has some amazing skills, like she can just look at an object & tell you its measurements. She only noticed this superpower in her teens, & obviously by then she has learned cm/inches but even as a child she could choose clothes to fit her dolls perfectly. Like be in a charity shop & see a random toy dress then buy it for a doll she had at home, Back at home she would excitedly get out the dol, put the dress on & it would fit perfectly. She also did the same thing as a kid when she would give her art as gifts for family members, she went & bought cheap photo frames & didn't even need to bring the art with her, she could just memorize its size, to the mm. Interestingly her memory is generally below average, she has dyslexia but for some reason her spatial awareness & some visual memory is well above average. Another example is my childhood friend is a gifted musician, at 3 she started the violin & the piano. She was able to play full songs after just a couple of lessons, she is just naturally talented. Yes this friend went on to practice for hours & did work hard but she is now in a world renowned orchestra where she plays first violinist. Even with all the effort in the world, not everyone can get to that level. It is unfair but some people often have a natural advantage.

@@maya_yaser It also has to do with what the four year old can learn, realize is relevant & apply too, before even starting the task for the first time. Luck in what activities build skills are which are applicable to an activity the child might happen to try. Like children who regularly get read to by their parents/guardians are better at creative writing. For some sports if a kid, say rock climbs, then they are going to be good at getting around on a playground climbing frame. Some people are instantly good at things, yes they are the tiny minority but some people are gifted. Seriously search "child genius" there are abilities that scientists are unable to explain. Like a man can just fly over a city & then draw it all perfectly from memory. Someone can be born with perfect pitch, where they randomly know the notes in music & can identify & replicate them. A baby may have a perfect sense of rhythm & be able to tap along to the beat, give them a drum & they can match a piece of music they have only heard, no training, raw talent. The same with dancing, or copying another's dance without formal training. Or someone is able to name the day of the week of any date for the past like 200 years! Maybe shes born with it? Maybe it's inexplicable!

I'm learning so much in this video. Drew went to improv class? That makes so much sense. I've noticed Drew is a lot better with off the cuff remarks than some others may be and they usually have more nuance to them. That improv class definitely paid off. I'd love to take classes like that. I'm not great at coming up with things in the moment. Like when someone asks me a question I'll just say yes then immediately turn and walk away from them. Even if it isn't a yes or no question. You'd be surprised at just how annoying most people find that.

Never saw any of Drew's vines before now. Gotta say, still pretty good. Roadwork ahead is one of those ones that seems obvious in hindsight, but had never actually been done before. And the clones one tickled me. Read "The Man Who Folded Himself", a classic sci-fi novel about time travel that includes a fair bit of (inevitable as far as I'm concerned) him fucking himself.

I'm incredibly late to the game because I always watch your videos when KZfaq recommends them to me, so they're never in order. I didn't know you're the road work ahead Vine person. It's my favorite Vine because when I moved to America, that sign was the one that confused me the most. Like why did it not say construction and why do American sings have words on them. Coming from Europe, we rarely have words on signs and heavily rely on pictograms. I must have spent hours upon hours of my life, laughing about this Vine. Thank you for contributing to so much happiness with less than 10 words!
