Here is Bas explaining why it IS good for professional Mixed Martial Artists, in act, for every martial art it's good, but, needs t be done correct and by a person who actually knows what he is doing

Would you rather "fail to never learn", or "never learn to fail? ...Keep an open mind! Van Damme combined the art of ballet with his martial arts training throughout the years. Without a doubt, the dexterity, the stretching, and grace ALL helped him become a greater martial artist... and actor!

I think the problem with crossfit is in that the most people are half assing their workouts. Back in the day when I grinded my training, I did something similar to what crossfit is.
@Thesavagesouls
@Thesavagesouls 6 ай бұрын
They are "half assing their workouts" because they only care about doing the most reps as possible. That's mainly why crossfit has a bad rep amongst people that actually know what they are doing in sport.

Yea CrossFit has a lot of great equipment to use. I just feel they don’t utilize them as much as they should and like the guy above me said they heavily focus on the amount of repetitions to the point they’re willing to sacrifice form for reps and end up with unnecessary injuries

I think people push back against cross fit training one its popular to be against it, I think it’s a great way to workout if you focus and learn proper and safe form in executing exercises, but a lot of people got into it and didn’t learn and got injured just like any sport and exercise that is greatly possible outcome when you aren’t practicing proper form

If I'm remembering it correctly, Greg Glassman started CrossFit while training clients in the back of a BJJ gym. The idea that it's not good for fighters is silly. There have been fighters doing CrossFit from the start of it. It would be cool if you got a chance to talk to Sevan Matossian or even Glassman himself about the start of CrossFit.

I would like to train with you, Bas. I live near Austin, TX. Do you have a gym near? I'm over 40, and I haven't had much physical activity in the past couple of years since some people tried to murder me in Oklahoma. That's how I ended up here. I took Taekwondo as a kid and wrestled in school. I always took up for other kids and myself, but as I got older, people stopped trying to fight me. Thank the Lord! I'm 6'6" and weigh about 250lbs. I'm over 40 now, so I don't expect to be in any fights. However, I would like to get into better shape than I am now without getting too bulky and losing my swiftness. Would you be interested in helping me? If so, how can I make contact? Thank you, sir, happy New Year. I always say everything happens for a reason, and I noticed you say the same.

Bas, are 24 kg kettlebell workouts worthy? I normally do a lot of weighted pull ups, then messing around with a 16 kg kettlebell (uppercuts, jabs)until I've got no strength and the whole body's shaking. Built stamina but that seems like a ritual, no progressing. Godspeed.

@@kainickname Sorry but I'm doing it for myself. Not denying that's an idiotic way to train but it improves the punch power a lot. Doesn't improve stamina, that's it. Can't have both.

Crossfit I think is almost perfect for MMA, it does everything pretty well but generally emphasizes mostly muscular endurance & cardio first and the rest like strength and power secondary. The Olympic crossfit lifts albeit amazing, might be a bit too technical to go 100% and maintain form for MMA. It's super taxing on the body & a bit injury prone for most fighting athletes on top of MMA. I'm no expert, I've coached both lower and high level individuals. What I've noticed is that generally for all people, it works best to separate into strength, plyometrics, fighting related stuff and once or twice a week the all out conditioning similar to crossfit you've mentioned works best. Like you said bas, it's tailored to the person. However there are crazy outliers like you who can go 100% every session 5x a week like, but it shows haha... You're in the hall of fame.
@OfficialBasRutten
@OfficialBasRutten 6 ай бұрын
No, I only did4 times a week 100%,learned that the hard way. I use to train every day, never a break, two times a day hitting a bag as hard as Could. Then one time I just dropped on the ground during a workout, had about 4% body fat.That's where the doctor explained to be that muscles need rest and protein to get stronger, haha, who knew? I didn't. He said it, "you are going be so much stronger when you do this", and boy he was correct. I am the knucklehead who knows things because I made huge mistakes!
